The little red hen finds none of the lazy barnyard animals willing to help her plant, harvest, or grind wheat into flour, but all are eager to eat the bread she makes from it.
Wonderfully classic story in an early reader edition. Nice version, although I'm going to stay on the lookout for one with slightly more modern illustrations or story. While I love that it makes clear the steps to making bread (important to know where your food comes from and how it's made), it may be a little distant for some young child's understanding. That is was an easy reader was good, though.
This was a very book book and an easy reader for young children, but it has a powerful meaning. I would use this if I was having trouble with students not wanting to pick up the classroom or not wanting to help in certain ways.
