basic leveled reader; no chicks, no twist, no grace of rhythm... definitely skippable

I liked the fact that the hen stood up for herself and did not share the bread. It teaches us assertiveness.

Wonderfully classic story in an early reader edition. Nice version, although I'm going to stay on the lookout for one with slightly more modern illustrations or story. While I love that it makes clear the steps to making bread (important to know where your food comes from and how it's made), it may be a little distant for some young child's understanding. That is was an easy reader was good, though.

This was a very book book and an easy reader for young children, but it has a powerful meaning. I would use this if I was having trouble with students not wanting to pick up the classroom or not wanting to help in certain ways.
