I like Rachel Hauck a lot. This is her first story and you can tell. It’s a sweet story of forgiveness, but you can definitely tell she has grown a ton as a writer!
This is such a tender story that beautifully shows young women how important it is to keep the Lord at the very center, no matter the circumstances that come our way. Belle has been deeply hurt, devastated, and disappointed by the man she had planned to spend the rest of her life with. Despite this, she did not allow this grief to pull her away from God but allowed Him to draw her even closer. Rachel created a character who is strong in her faith, devoted to her father, and not susceptible to being pulled into relationships that would not be the best for her. Well done!
This seemingly unrealistic story is filled with love, forgiveness, and the rebuilding of trust. I appreciate how the author keeps the characters Christ centered and not just the story. It shows that love and forgiveness go a long way to rebuilding relationships - but the fact that trust has to be rebuilt before the relationship deepened was wise and true. Also, I adore the alliteration of their names...Belle and Burke!😍
This Time is a deeply Christian novel. The characters are both passionately chasing a relationship with God/Jesus Christ first and looking for love second which I personally found inspiring. Hauck often mentions that characters have spent significant amounts of time praying or worshiping, which impactfully binds those activities into who Belle and Burke are as people. Hauck keeps it short, sweet and succinct.
This Time is told in duel perspectives, enriching the story through understanding both Belle and Burke’s thought process. Belle has been deeply hurt by Burke in the past (actions he regrets) and doesn’t trust him anymore. Despite this, she is still deeply in love with him and misses her best friend. It was a beautiful love story of second chances, with Belle having to decide if it was worth risking her heart again and if Burke truly regretted his past actions. Overall it was well written and incredibly sweet. I’ll happily read This Time again.
I was surprised to find this book and didn't know what to expect since it was an earlier writing but I really liked it. The story line was entertaining and I kept wanting to read more. I like books that are clean reads and this one is. Love lost can still turn into love found.
Ms. Hauck’s first book is evidence of her gift and ability to reach deep into her characters hearts and minds. I love the feeling of communion with the Lord that permeates the story. The struggles are real and the victories great. I always enjoy Ms. Hauck’s work.
I love the way Rachel weaves a story with love and spiritual growth of her characters. Her books are never boring and are small twists that keep you wanting to find out more. They inspire me to want to deepen my spiritual life.
I've read many of Rachel Hauck's more recent books, but had never read this. When I saw it was being re-released, I had to get it! Like she says at the beginning, it is different than her more recent books, but I LOVED this story!!
This was short, sweet, and somewhat predictable but I still really liked it. A little football, slow forgiveness, and a rekindled romance and I’m all in. Glad I took a chance on an early Hauck novel.
This is a sweet story of second chances and forgiveness. Although it’s a bit different than her new works, I enjoyed the characters and the setting. And the sweetness of love restored.
This book deserves 5 stars. Belle and Burke grow in their faith and demonstrate God's faithfulness. God doesn't let their pain go to waste. This story encourages me to put my trust in the Lord even when life seems unfair and hopeless.
I'm a huge fan of Rachel Hauck! This book was the first book she wrote (back in 1999), but it has just now been published. It is a sweet, Christian story about forgiveness and putting Christ first in your life. It definitely doesn't have the polish or literary quality of her later work, but it was a quick, easy read.
Rachel Hauck is an accomplished writer; there is depth to her writing. I wept with Belle; had a little problem with the story of "cold feet." I'm glad that their loved was renewed. I felt sorry for Grace.
This was such a good book. I loved the relationship between Belle & her father. Mostly I loved that the characters always prayed & asked for God's guidance in all aspects of their lives. It helped remind me to ask God for guidance in every aspect of my life.
This Time is an e-book written by Rachel Hauck from the early days of her writing career. It is one of my favorite stories written by Rachel. The story is about a love lost from years gone by that has been given a second chance...but will it be different this time around? Retired NFL player Burke Benning returns home and is reunited with his first love, Belle Jamison. For Belle, his return uprooted her life and made her confront feelings she has buried for years. After all, he inflicted the ultimate pain, something not so easily forgiven or forgotten.
This story made me feel hope that all wrongs can be righted and that something you believe is gone forever can come back to you. Rachel created good characters in Belle and Burke. When reading their stories, you feel a comfort when they are together and look forward to the next time they meet up or run into each other knowing that each time they do, a little more of the wall is chipped away that looms between them.
I recommend anyone who has an e-reader of some sort to purchase this book and enjoy the story of Burke and Belle as they discover what this time around holds for them.
I really enjoyed this quick read. I liked the main characters a lot. I was a littlt frustrated with Belle at times, but the author developed her character well. It's a story of love and forgiveness--and very romantic.
I would have preferred to rate it 3.5 stars. It was a good book, but I guess I'm not as forgiving as our leading lady. The guy dumps her, lives his whole NFL career without her, then wants her back? I suppose I would have liked to see him suffer a bit more. Too easy for him.
This is a good book! I thought it was fun to see the friendship redevelopment and then the romance begin. The dad was fun to get to know. Loved the way he was encouraging and supportive of his daughter. But secretly wanting Burke and Belle to get back together. great book
