In this award-winning story, Digging Bones, Snooper decides to open his bank with digging a hole to store his bones. He talks to Shadow, telling him banking will help to save for a rainy day, and is a must because of a looming financial crisis. Will Shadow bank with Snooper? Will Snooper convince him to conserve? Will they have enough to eat? They discuss ways to cut costs while trying to assure themselves there is enough to go around, - they hope.
Its a good lesson about job loss and how it can affect everything you do. However, I cant help but think I am missing some of the story. I mean it sorta just ended like maybe she will write more but I dont know. It was sorta humorous but not really. I think it needed a little more to make sense to me 100%.
I had a hard time reading this. I'm not sure what it was but some of the wording was hard to read through. It's supposed to be a children's book and there was a little bit of a good lesson in there but it was hard to read for me. Maybe if it was edited differently or flowed smoother it would've been easier and clearer to read.
This is book 3 in The K-9 Boys and Girls on Locus Street. Snooper hides his bones in this book buy digging a hole in the ground to hide them. He tries to explain to Shadow that this is helping him "save for a rainy day". Shadow always carries all his bones around with him in his mouth because he thinks that this is the only way that he can keep them safe. Will Snooper be able to convince him to try to "bank" as well?
Since it is a short book I cannot share too much more without giving away the book. The drawings were adorable. I love the way that Shadow is obsessed with talking about food and I can totally imagine dogs thinking like this. Also snuck into the book is some interesting facts that are placed in a way that kids won't even realize they are learning. For example how the author explains that Siam is now called Thailand.
Cute short story about not using up or eating everything in this instance right away. Save some for a rainy day. You never know when that will be. The illustrations are really adorable.
