Smart girls know two things. Don't pick up hitch-hikers and avoid dangerous men.

Down-on-her-luck trader captain, Drew Roberts' fascination for dangerous men is equal to her need for a crew. When the sexy alien kith pair, Ashwin and Kormec wanders onto her ship with the offer of passage for repairs, she knows trouble is not far behind. But a girl's gotta do, what a girl's gotta do—And getting back at her rival, the kith Captain Larissa by taking these two on, seems like a pretty good idea at the time.

On the run, Ashwin and Kormec, know that the best way to avoid a political marriage is one of another kind. Is Drew Roberts ‘the one' for them? Can she survive an encounter with Ashwin's mother, the fierce Captain Larissa? The three of them may generate enough heat to power a sun, but question is, will they survive it?

Starts off well and h is strong, snarky and independent, which I liked. Plot suffers from too many threads introduced too late into the novella, with many events too sudden to be understood. Why was the bad guy suddenly helping them, that was a real WTF moment, as was the epilogue. You also don't get any of Ash's thought processes and the ending wraps up far too quickly. Smex was brief and unsatisfying. Overall, contemplating a refund.

I read this in the "Star Struck Anthology". Mara is visited by 2 kith - Ash and Korm, who are on the run from an arranged marriage. When entering the ship, Ash automatically recognizes the "One" which someone foretold. Really good story. Wish it would have been longer. *****

Really liked this book.
Only one thing I was never able to figure out and I'm hoping that question will be answered in the second book.
