BUYING ADVISORY: MS, HS – ADVISABLE

AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH

Kevin and Jesse are high school friends on their way to spend a weekend at Jesse’s cabin. When a car accident leaves them stranded in the woods, they have to figure out how to work together to survive.

Part of the Road Trip series, the charm of this book is that for reluctant readers, its high interest and a super fast read. It’s not great literature, but it will pull readers in.

I am currently on Page 9,

I just started this book and it's about two teenagers who go on a drive to a cabin. Jesse and Kevin have two conflicting opinions on how they want to spend there weekend. For example, Jesse wants to stay inside all day playing video games and "pigging out" where on the other hand Keven wants to hike, fish, and do real camping.

I like this book so far because I feel like I can really relate to Kevin in the fact that he would like to spend his weekend camping and fishing like he used to with his dad. I also like the feud that Jesse and Keven are having because of this, one wants to be inside and one wants to be outside, and they kind of let the reader decide whose opinion they like better. I love outdoorsy type books like this because things never go how you expect them to, one second they can be on they're way to a cabin to enjoy the weekend and the next they could be stuck in the wilderness with no way out fighting to survive.
