Spelljammer, while a flawed concept in more ways than one, does have more than a few strong points and in my opinion, this is one of them.
There are a handful of great plug and play modules to be used in any existing campaign, or to form a new campaign. My particular favorite is the ship graveyard with the stranded being. I can spend hours going over the ships there and figuring out how to bring enough materials into the graveyard to take a small fleet back out with me.
