When Big Bears Invade

Rate this book
Manitoba artist Nyco Rudolph and Alberta writer Alexander Finbow join creative forces to reveal the myth behind how the Benevolent Bears came to rule over us all. An illustrated children's book for adults featuring beautiful Godzilla and King Kong inspired paintings of Giant Bears attacking major Canadian cities and landmarks. Includes Grizzly Bear Colossuses attacking the CN Tower, Spirit Bears surfing the tsunami into Vancouver, a huge Bearnado ripping into Winnipeg, giant bear cubs playing jump rope with the Eastern Gateway pipeline, Polar Bear Behemoths dropping a glacier on to the oil sands, and the Giant Bears delivering a very Canadian wall to keep the Americans out. At least that's what Granny says really happened.

When I'm not publishing wonderful stories written and drawn by fantastic creators, I am writing and collaborating on stories from my imagination that I want to share with readers.

You'll find me over at http://www.renegadeartsentertainment.... most of the time, as well as instagram https://www.instagram.com/alexanderfi...

Currently working on the follow-up to When Big Bears Invade with Nyco Rudolph, as well as Bloodlight with Al Davison (need to get past the writers block and get this one finished, sorry Al!) and Sand, a novel.

Delightful :D When Bears Invade is a very Canadian story of giant bears getting quite cranky because we're messing up the environment. They overrun Montreal with poutine and other such delights of illustration! It's ridiculous, but still has an apt message for kids. Or adults who just enjoy pictures of bears destroying most of the country...

This is a wonderful Canadian book, just in time for our country's 150th birthday. Fabulous art work and clever words, delivering a great combination of contemporary commentary and enormous fun. Look closely and you will see famous and not-so-famous local celebrities. A great read for all ages.

I love the other Renegade graphic novels (check them out online if you haven't already), and my favourite of those is The Loxleys and the War of 1812. Should be a part of the curriculum, in my opinion.

Giant bears attacks place around in Canada. There is good and bad in this book. The good is that the illustrations are truly beautiful, it presented different parts/informations about Canada and it's kind of funny. The bad is that it clearly have a political/ecological interest in it, but too subtle and too dense at the same time for a book made for kids, they won't get any of it, maybe they're parents, if they read it together, will enjoy it, but I just find that message/public is really on point.
