In the sequel to Timespell, Yan Tanafres and Teletha must prove themselves in a battle against the bregil, beastly creatures who wear moonstone amulets and draw their powers from a dragon-like wizardry.
(Fantasy 1996) Book Two of the Chronicle of Aelwyn. Yan continues to seek knowledge to become a Wizard, and still seems incapable of realizing there are other people with real feelings and needs around him. His withdrawal from those who aid and protect him is even stronger in this novel, yet they continue to help him. Strange. He is captured by the enemy and ends up working with their wizards while seeking to uncover their secrets, for his own knowledge. That he is instrumental in helping his fellow travelers seems to be a lucky accident rather than an intent. Since I have the third book, I will read it, but don't expect much more from him. He is surrounded by interesting characters, but they seem to be loyal without anything in return, and generally end up getting killed.
