True or False? Tecumseh challenged a future U.S. president face-to-face.
True! In 1810, Tecumseh met with William Henry Harrison, then governor of the Indiana Territory. Tecumseh angrily questioned Harrison about dishonest treaties with Native Americans.
Tecumseh's name in Shawnee means "shooting star." A meteor streaked across the sky the night he was born.
He was an expert in tracking and shooting animals for food. One day he shot sixteen buffalo with arrows while sitting in a tree!
He always walked with a limp after being thrown from a horse and breaking his leg.

I read this book from my elementary school library after I watched a History channel program about the time period around the War of 1812. I wanted to see how it compared to the portrayal of Tecumseh from History Channel. This book is written for intermediate grade elementary school children, but many of the facts were similar! I'm curious to see how it compares to textbooks for 5th grade specifically covering US History. This is a book that I will recommend to students with my personal review, and I'm looking at others in the series now. Good book!
