Tim Vicary is an author and a recently retired university teacher from the university of York, England. His legal thrillers about a tough British barrister, Sarah Newby, have been compared to the works of John Grisham and Scott Turow. The second book in the series, A Fatal Verdict, was awarded a B.R.A.G Medallion for an outstanding independent novel, and the third book, Bold Counsel, was awarded the Awesome Indies Seal of Excellence. He is currently writing a fourth book in the series, entitled Broken Alibi.

His four historical novels have also won praise. Nobody's Slave, a novel about the Elizabethan slave trade, won first prize in the young adult category of the Kindle Book awards 2014. His three other historical novels, Cat & Mouse, The Blood Upon the Rose, and The Monmouth Summer, are all available individually or as a boxed set of three, entitled Women of Courage.

Tim has also written about twenty much shorter books, graded readers for foreign learners of English, published by Oxford University Press. In 2010 and 2011 two of these - Titanic and The Everest Story - were each the winners in their category for the Language Learner Literature Award for the Extensive Reading Foundation.

Tim lives in the English countryside, near York. When he's not writing he likes horse-riding, cycling, and swimming.

First reading and listening to the audio in early 2016, second at the end of 2016 and now third in 2018. Level 1 is easy, but when I read and listened at the first time, it was a bit difficult for me.

This story is very good and I really like it. This story tells of a mother who comes to prison to meet her son who is in prison and convinces her child that his mother will free him from prison and catch the perpetrator. So initially his son was in prison because of a drug case that was found in toothpaste on the plane, then his mother and the inspector felt that his son's ex was the perpetrator because he was with his mother's son and his new girlfriend, then in the end his ex was arrested and the story ended. My favorite part was when his ex was found out and arrested.

White Death is a mystery story written by Tim Vicary. In this story ,Sarah Harland is in prison. At the airport, she finds the drugs in her bag. The "White Death ",they call it. But her mother believes she is innocent. She goes to the court and see a young man, Hassan.

The first good point is the part of the story where the trail of situation is written. Because you can feel that you are at court. You can enjoy the trail of situation. There are many people of feeling in the court. You will be excited for them and deeply absorbed to read this book.

The second point is the part of the story where you can know Sarah's mother's feeling. She loves her daughter. When Sarah was in prison, she believes her daughter is innocent. It is important for her to think about her daughter, Sarah. You will be impressed by it.

The bad point is not a lot of the story where Hassan's feeling is written so you cannot know Hassan of feeling.

People who like mysterious and interesting stories will like this book. This book is easy to read because this book is made by easy words. So, people who are not good at reading English books will easily read this book.

1)Tim Vicary,Oxford,Level 1

2)7/16=82minutes

3)1.airport 2.heroin 3.love 4.court 5.mother 6.hatred 7.boyfriend

4)Who do you have a hatred of?
-I hated a classmate in elementary school. The man made trouble for me, so he was nasty. I don't want to meet him all my life.

5)Hatred and love are correlates. Their love turn to hate if they deeply loved each other. I think so after I finished reading it. This book is written not only heterosexual love but also family love...you will be impressed by mother's action to help her daughter.

-Oxford readers, level1
-Time: 80minutes
-Seven words summary: toothpaste, heroine, X-boyfriend, innocence, telephone, rich, white death
-Discussion question: What would you do if you were involved in trouble?
→I don't want to give up if I'm innocent. I would like to insist until they know the truth.
-It was easy to read but some of the expressions were childish.

2.5⭐️it’s like a good book to read if you need to catch up with your Goodreads reading goal ( like me). But don’t expect too much from the plot and stuff like that cuz it’s a book of 40 pages. I read this bc it’s a mystery ( my genre) and my mom read it when she was as old as me, found it at my grandma’s. The English in this book is not difficult bc it’s a book too learn too read in English so yeah not perfect but I did enjoy the full 40 minutes.

My opinion for this book that this book had a simple story. So it's easy to understand, but the plot on the story was too basic for me. So I'm not that much enjoy it. The story was about there's a girl that suspected carrying a drugs on an airplane by her own boyfriend. Shortly, her mom proved that her son was not the real suspect, by it was another guy that is her boyfriend.

Finally, I finished this book today. It is a good story for English beginners. The book is long enough before I lost my interest in reading it. The book has made me more aware how people smuggle drugs into a country.
