I live with my husband, Tod, an artist, in our newly adopted state of South Carolina, USA. We enjoy long walks, then stopping off at our local coffee shop for coffee, tea, and a most necessary piece of cake. (Random fact: My surname rhymes with "peppy".)

I have been longing for a Brit Chick Lit book that was of the caliber of Rosamunde Pilcher. I miss the quaintness, the comfort of sitting by the Aga and having a cuppa, the hoovering . . . everything sounds so much better when they do it in England. Bliss! I also appreciated the certainty that while the characters were not angels the sensuality was left - as the publisher so graciously puts it - behind closed doors. Call me a prude, but it's hard to find romance books that concentrate more on the romance than the sex. Rosamunde was a star about that and so is Michele.
The hop from England to Texas surprised me but was pulled off with such style that I had no trouble dropping right in to the South and finding characters there that I liked as much as the ones I fell in love with in England, which also surprised me. And it made it difficult for me to guess where the plot (and especially the romantic aspects of it!) was headed. And drat Kindle I can't easily read ahead.
I was tempted to take a star off for length because I wanted to read more and, as books do, it ended. But that would be like giving a four star review to a box of chocolates because you wanted another when the box was empty. Still . . . I hope Michele is beavering away at another novel because I'm excited to read more by this brilliant new Brit Chick Lit author.
If you are looking for a summer beach read that will have you curling up in the evenings and making tea while you daydream about things like pegging out the wash and walking down the high street you won't be disappointed. But don't expect to be able to guess who will end up with whom because you just might be surprised. And expect to think in Brit-isms for awhile.
I loved reading Minding Jackson as it weaved so many different personalities into a story of finding strength and belonging for each character. Completely charming!
Good clean romance. Jane Quinn is proud of the florist business that she’s worked hard to build in the quaint English village of Hartsbury. But when her world is rocked by tragedy, Jane finds herself seemingly without a friend, or even a home. Worse, an estranged parent who lives an ocean away suddenly lays claim to Jackson, a little boy that Jane loves as her own.
Bewildered and running out of options, Jane discovers that the man that she had least expected to capture her heart becomes the one who will help her weather the storm, and lead her back home.
