Timothy Michael Dolan (born February 6, 1950) is an American Cardinal prelate of the Catholic Church. Appointed by Pope Benedict XVI, Dolan serves as the tenth and current Archbishop of New York.
Cardinal Dolan served as the President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops from 2010–2013 and was granted the titular position as Cardinal-Priest of Nostra Signora di Guadalupe a Monte Mario (English: Our Lady of Guadalupe of Mount Mario) in Rome.
Dolan is widely known for his conservative values and charismatic media personality. He previously served as Archbishop of Milwaukee from 2002 to 2009, preceded by service as an Auxiliary Bishop of St. Louis from 2001 to 2002. Time Magazine named Dolan one of the "100 Most Influential People in the World" for 2012.
Reading this concise, well-planned book about the essence of Catholicism has given me a much better understanding of the religion. Cardinal Dolan is a brilliant author and is fulfilling his mission as a humble servant of God.
I was lucky enough to be able to watch the installation Mass of the newly appointed Archbishop of New York Timothy M. Dolan at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on April 15. Arch Bishop Dolans homily was powerful and gave Catholics a good understanding of where archbishop stood on some of the most important issues, from abortion to a city still dealing with the 9-11 tragedy. What really convinced me that Timothy Dolan was the right choice to guide the Catholics of New York was his expression of joy. Archbishop Dolan stood outside the Cathedral as the procession into Mass passed, he took the time to greet each person in that procession and seemed to know many by their names. Dolan also began to wave to the crowds of people on the street. The absolute joy in his face was like a light or beacon that I am sure will draw many to Christ’s Church. On a recent visit to the book store I noticed the Archbishops book titled Called to be Holy. The book was written for Seminarians and those contemplating the Priesthood. The book is not only for religious, this book is a lesson for all Catholics and gives a clear message about virtues and what we are ALL called to be; good Catholics.

If only I could hang out with Cardinal Dolan! Since I can't, it's a treasure to glean from him in his writing. I should re-read this book on a regular basis, or maybe just gather up all his writing and sit down and read. This book is on the level of life-changing. I needed every bit of advice in the book and he gives it in such a way that I believe I can apply it.
One of the best books I've ever read. Cardinal Dolan is an amazing storyteller and has an amazing perspective that will truly change your life. Very easy to read, but at the same time, very inspiring and thought provoking. Cardinal Dolan has become one of my favorite authors. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone.
This book had some very practical advice and was extremely straight forward. I recommend my sister read this book, since it helps you put basic Christian principles into practice in your daily life, which I think she does without realizing it!
Archbishop Dolan's simple, straight-forward, and practical book was an easy read. With clear language and good examples, the Archbishop puts us on a road to holiness, the call we have all received.
This books contains no new insights that writers for centuries have not penned but how it was presented in such a practical manner was worth the read for me.
