I'd say this would be a good graphic novel for 9 to 14 year olds who are into sci-fi. There really aren't a lot of words, considering the length, which might make it a good choice for reluctant readers.
Personally, I found it missing that something that would make it fun for adults to read too. I would suggest giving this to a kid, and moving on to something else.
This really doesn't go anywhere with any mystery, conflict or trouble. If the first act is this smooth, how could the rest of the show be at all engaging? It's like "god mode" in a video game - no real challenge, and not much to do but admire the scenery.
I really liked reading this book. I had finished the regular series, and this graphic novel captures up the idea of the first book too. I expected Daniel to look like how he is on the covers of the novel series, but how he is in this book is still great. If you haven't read the novel series, then you are missing out. This is as great as the first book and the series, and I hope to see more of stuff like this.
Daniel is an Alien Hunter. He has the ability to create anything with just a thought. While this is a pretty impressive talent, it is important that he learn how to choose the correct thought when in the middle of battle. The task he inherits from his dead parents is to hunt down all the bad aliens on earth from a secret list left for him. To help him with his quest, he has created a group of friends that provide him with companionship and help. Daniel is hunting a group of aliens that use the cities of Earth as a hunting ground for a poaching game. The leader of the group, Number 7, is a bad guy comprised of millions of ants. Daniel befriends 7’s son, Kildare without realizing he is made of ants as well. Daniel is almost defeated and Kildare is lost. In a desperate attempt to save his friend, Daniel goes to battle again. Kildare finally breaks free of his father’s colony and in an act of true sacrifice he destroys his father and thereby killing himself. Daniel is left alone again with only the friends that he creates himself.
This is a fun adaptation of James Patterson’s Daniel X series. The drawings add to the action and allow the reader to see the magic and emotional reactions taking place in the story. I think this book would appeal to teens of both genders. I would recommend this to a teen who was looking for something with a lot of adventure without the gore of some graphic novels.
I guess one thing here is that I just am not a big fan of graphic novels. I suppose they have their place and I'm always finding one and picking it up. I read the first Daniel X novel and I have the second laying here waiting to be read, so when I saw the graphic novel I got it from the library.
Not to bad as graphic novels go, I've read a lot worse.
Daniel is again after an Alien threat, one from "The List" and of course he ends up on the receiving end of the "hunting" himself. Of course anymore and I'd be giving spoilers, so suffice it to say that the adventure holds up, the art isn't too bad and then you get the action. Actually having read the novel and then this, I think the action art in a way limits things. Description of shape shifting aliens and their combat can be imagined pretty graphically. Still, not too bad.
This graphic novel was interesting and enjoyable. It was a pretty easy read with some very detailed artwork. The story follows the protagonist, Daniel X, who looks human, but is actually an alien. He has no relatives remaining alive and he has the power of creation (as in he can form anything out of thin air with the thought of his mind), he can also shapeshift, where he changes himself into a different form. I felt like the novel was a bit childish for my level of reading. The words were really simple, the graphics were obviously put into more effort than the build up of the story (in my opinion); and overall I felt that the plot was too simple and that it is more of a young adult/middle school novel. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the book, a more relaxing novel, away from the more challenging novels.
I have only ever read half of this graphic novel before, so I decided to come back and finish it, mostly because of my previous respect for the series.
Warnings
Rock 'N Roll- aliens, some disturbing ideas Violence- blood (this is a graphic novel, so you see the stuff)
Overall Review- Pretend this is one star for one specific reason: plagiarism. Now you might be like, "Wait, really? What did this author plagiarize?" Well, the answer may shock you: himself. Book 4 of the Daniel X series, Game Over, is the EXACT same plot as this from what I remember. There's some minor differences, but if I remember right, both books take place in Tokyo, both deal with some type of game as the reason of their danger, both books have sons of the antagonist which die in the end because of their parents, and both antagonists are made of smaller organisms that form one hive mind. (This one was ants while the other was some other creature and took two different forms, but still.) Sad thing is, Patterson tried to pass this off as original... but it's literally just a recopy of book four. Exactly. Now the drawings were good, but it did look like a kid drew a lot of these drawings, the style wasn't really for me, and Patterson loves tragedy for no reason by killing off an innocent creature, which I deem unnecessary. Anyway, the novel was good, but I can't bring myself to give him a decent rating because he just copy and pasted story. If I were to continue the series again, I would leave the review on book four, but this came out last I think, so this one gets the boot. (This book is SUPPOSED to take place in between 1 and 2. What makes me more upset was that he wrote four after he published this one and just stole the story from this one for that one. Again, this story is good, he just uses the exact same plot twice. That's sloppy writing.)

For the artstyle, I love the artistic lighting and colors, though the faces and expressions seem borderline caricature, which may just be intentional, but it sticks out to me, as I haven't expected it from the cover alone.
The story, however, feels a bit rushed on pacing, bland and shallow in characterization, with a spattering of plotholes and unexplained reasoning for some acts, but mildly enjoyable. It seems fit for a middle-grade reader, which I was not aware of when purchasing. I usually read children's stories as it's some of my guilty pleasures, even so, I did not quite "like" it, but kept reading for the art. I find that I prefer YA to Adult in Fantasy, so it may be that I am just not the right audience for this.
I love how they managed to create looks for all the characters. Each person Daniel creates has their own personality, and the particles look really cool. I just wish there were more content in this book. It was a great book nonetheless, but I just wanted it to be a little longer. I especially love it since Daniel was finally able to be drawn as someone you don't expect to be doing what he does.
this book is very good because is a alien hunter and he can turn into animal and he loves animal he is in tokyo and his mom and dad die he have no one he save people and he don't like bully and when he get mad he turn into a black dot on this body like little dot all over him and hurt them he try to think that he hurt people a lot o he try to hide from people and his name is Daniel he have a best friend and is 1 girl her name is kildar she daniel best friends and they are alien.
As a fan of the Daniel x series... I can honestly say I hated this book not only was it missing major context to the story the art was poorly done and I feel like they missed a lot of the story of Daniel x and the character they chose to change major aspects of the story
No idea why I borrowed a graphic novel back in 2015 - not really my thing but at the time I was determined to read everything written by James Patterson.
it was so good, i liked the part when he was hunting all the aliens after he found the magic script just to get to the last one the one that killed his parents

I used this for my high school special education class. The kids enjoyed the story and had fun writing their own comic strips based on an alien and an alien hunter.
This 127 page comic by James Patterson tells the story of how one boy, Daniel X who has the superpower of creating anything on his mind, must continue his fathers job of exterminating all evil aliens. In this book, Daniel X is on the mission of destroying alien number 7, which means he is getting very close to the end of his mission. After discovering alien number 7's hideout, Daniel X realises he has a son. To get more information on Alien 7 Daniel goes to school to try and confront the aliens son. After obtaining information from the son, and becoming friends with him after a couple of days, Daniel tries to find a way to exterminate Alien 7. He eventually realises from the son that the alien is made up of ants, which helps Daniel with trying to figure out strategies on how to kill the alien. One night while Daniel is outside on a hilltop with Kildare, the aliens son, Alien 7 finds Daniel which results in long battle between the two. In the end Kildare sacrifices his life to exterminate his father so no more destruction will occur. The author of this book made this book in a very creative style. The book is filled with colour and detail. The author put a lot of time into detailing the characters from facial expressions, to the background scenery. The colour and detail enhance the mood of the book. For example during a night scene, the is a lot of detail to make the scene look creepy, and the colour just increases that effect even more. In the end I did not really like this book. This genre is not one of my favourites, however I usually like comics. This book would be good for young readers with a big imagination, also for those who love science fiction and stories about extraterrestrials.
James Patterson’s hero, Daniel X, is the perfect character to be represented in a graphic novel. The science fiction adventures that Daniel X finds himself ensnared in are perfect for this format of storytelling. One does not have to have read THE DANGEROUS DAYS OF DANIEL X to enjoy or appreciate the eye-catching story depicted in DANIEL X: ALIEN HUNTER.
Daniel isn’t your typical teenage boy. He’s an orphan. And, oh yeah, he’s an alien. His parents were universally (and I mean that literally) famous alien hunters. Number 1 on their list murdered them when Daniel was a small boy. He has followed in their footsteps and won’t rest until he has done his job and avenged their deaths.
In DANIEL X: ALIEN HUNTER, Daniel faces off against the Game Consortium. The story takes place in the dark corners of Tokyo. Daniel is after who he refers to as Number 7. To complicate matters, Daniel discovers Number 7 has a son, Kildare. Daniel somehow knows that Kildare isn’t evil like his father. If he can get to know Kildare, maybe he can discover a way to get to Number 7.
But before long, Number 7 is onto Daniel, and Kildare and Daniel are fighting for their lives. Number 7 may be too strong for the two boys to defeat.
Through clever storytelling and brilliant artwork, the story of Daniel X comes alive for the reader. Even if you’re not a fan of graphic novels, the story pulls you in and captures your attention. DANIEL X: ALIEN HUNTER is a nice addition to the series. It stands on its own accord, but also enhances the first novel by Mr. Patterson & Mr. Ledwidge.
A young adult graphic novel, Daniel X: Alien Hunter is based upon the book series. I haven’t read the book series, so I’m not sure if it’s the same storyline or not. The best part of the graphic novel is the quick moving action scenes and I love graphic novels that keep moving. I would have labeled this book as children’s graphic novel as it is slightly less complicated than the Artemis Fowl and Percy Jackson series of books. While many things are left unclear and caused confusion in our household upon starting to read the graphic novel….he’s an “alien hunter” does that mean he’s an alien who is a hunter, or a hunter of aliens? Actually, both are true. He is an alien who hunts aliens. However, that was unclear in the first few pages when he is fighting humans. Yeah. So if the kids can see past that, they can get enamored with Daniel X’s cool skills of imagining things and making them happen. That’s a useful talent to have, so useful you would think that he would never face any trouble that he can’t get out of by just thinking it, but apparently that doesn’t work that way and there are more complications thrown at him.
The book doesn’t leave me wanting to run out to read the series of books, though it was entertaining as a quick read. The art work, while not my favorite, wasn’t bad for the type of sci-fi kids book it was. One of the aliens that is quickly dispatched was perhaps the cutest, most adorable alien ever, and it was a good alien, but there was very little grief over the loss of him, which annoyed me a bit as we lingered on the bad guys more than anything else.
Daniel X is an alien hunter from another planet. He has powers that most people would consider pretty cool. Daniel can create anything using his mind. The most impressive thing he creates are his best friends. During times when he is the most lonely, he has his best friends appear and join him for talks, meals, and games.
Daniel is on a mission. He is after Number 7 on the list of the worst aliens on Earth. Daniel found the list after his parents were killed by the most dangerous alien on earth and took over their alien hunting duties.
Number 7 is the Chairman of a corporation called the Game Consortium. The Game Consortium makes its money by organizing brutal urban safaris. It breeds and releases creatures into cities and some of the worst scum in the galaxy pay for the opportunity to hunt and kill the target. Daniel gets more than he bargains for when he takes on the Chairman. He’ll have to rely on wisdom his father passes down, his friends, and a new and unlikely ally in order to survive.
Daniel learns a lot about himself and friendship during his adventure to put a stop to Number 7. James Patterson does a good job of giving a short recap of Daniel’s background without making it redundant. The illustrations are great and the full-color panels really make the scenes come alive. Reading the first book in the series, THE DANGEROUS DAYS OF DANIEL X, might be helpful to understand the entire background of the Daniel’s world, but it isn’t necessary in order to enjoy this graphic novel.
I’ve been wanting to read the Daniel X books for some time now but haven’t been able to fit the novels into my current reading schedule. Enter Daniel X the graphic novel and it’s perfect. I get to sample the books in a quick way to determine if I really want to read them. Sadly, the answer is yes, I really want to read them. Daniel X was fast paced and so full of those various parts that makes a story great. Now I need to find time for the novels. Daniel is a young man on his own. His parents died when he was young, leaving him to learn and follow his destiny alone. Well, sort of alone. Daniel can create things from his imagination – that’s because Daniel is the son of a legendary Alien Hunter sent to Earth to capture alien fugitives. Daniel has recreated his family and given himself friends but they are only around for periods of time. The story weaves current day with Daniel’s past but still manages to leave just enough questions to make the reader want more. This is a sad tale and a hopeful one. Daniel is after Number 7 but he lacks information about that particular alien except that he likes to import other weaker aliens to Earth so that they can be hunted. Number 7’s only weakness comes in the form of his teenage son, Kildare. Kildare and Daniel become friends. The story shifts from the hunt to learning independence. Kildare and Daniel have so much in common. Number 7 has no love for his son but that won’t save any of them when the battle lines are drawn. Pick this one up. I love James Patterson to begin with. Daniel X promises to remain a great tale.
This book is about a boy named Daniel who is 15 years old. Daniel is no ordinary boy because when he was five years old his parents were killed by a monster right in front of his face. Ever since this tragic accident occurred Daniel has been living alone for years by his self in his own apartment. Daniel has spent most of his life tracking down the monster that killed his family and everyday he gets one step closer or so he thinks. Daniel is not only a monster hunter but he has the gift of creativity and I know right now your probably think he's good at art , but that's not the type of creativity i'm talking about. Daniel has the ability to create things that aren't really there but to ant ordinary person they are there. For example whenever he is feeling alone he can create his family or even his friends. Daniel is 15 so he has to go to high school right ,but what happens when he transfers to a into a new high school and meets the "girl" of his dreams. He meets this girl named Emma who is perfect for him , the he perfect distraction from his goal. What happens when one day Emma in trouble and he saves her by telling her everything about his powers. Emma which is really the monster who kills his parents in disguise uses it against him to capture him. Will Daniel over come this, read this book to find out what happens. I recommend this book to all grades.
