Paige Tyler features new supernatural villains in the fifteenth book in the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team paranormal romantic suspense series:
Wild As a Wolf
. Set in contemporary times and mainly in Dallas, Texas, it features alpha SWAT werewolf, Hale Delaney and Karissa Bonifay, a sword-wielding warrior who does personal protection and works for her family’s security business.
Hale and his packmates are facing a gang of supernaturals who are wreaking havoc in the city. Meanwhile, his high school girlfriend who broke his heart shows up to protect the Chief Executive Officer of a company opening a new auto assembly plant. Neither Hale nor Karissa are the same people as when they last saw each other. They end up hunting dangerous adversaries together and learn the truth about what really happened when they were teenagers.
Hale often feels at a disadvantage since his nose was broken when he was 17. He can’t smell anything so he relies on his other senses and his martial arts training as well as claws and fangs. He’s strong, fast, and cares about others. He and his teammates eat a lot and talking through issues occurs during meals and snacks. Karissa tends to talk to herself to work thru difficult problems, has an overwhelming need to protect others, is good at reading people, and has instincts that alert her when something bad is about to happen. Even after 10 years apart, they are strongly attracted to each other, but can they get over their past hurts? Characters from previous books in the series make appearances, but the focus is on Hale and Karissa.
The plot is twisty and the first sentence had me rapidly reading the story. Exciting scenes, great protagonists, and epic antagonists are combined with romance, a friend having trouble, and family issues. The narrative was descriptive without slowing the pace. Additionally, there are a couple of surprises along on the way. I hope readers get packmate Carter’s story soon. It would also be great to see Karissa’s brother Deven again at some point in the future. There is a steamy scene in chapter 17.
Overall, this book is emotionally-charged, full of danger, and intense; with a terrific romance and nonstop action. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series. If you enjoy thrilling paranormal romantic suspense novels, then I recommend you check out this series. There is enough background that this novel can be read as a standalone, but the series is best read in order.

Hale and Karissa were childhood sweethearts until her brothers beat and threatened him. Once Karissa got her Paladin gifts from Athena, she has been put to work exclusively for her parent’s security company. She follows her instincts that tell her where her skills are needed. Karissa finds Hale fighting for his life in an alley where she is able to intercede and save his life. Hale is shocked that he’s not only been saved by a woman but that she is the first and only woman he’d ever loved. They soon team up with the SWAT group to fight the newest supernatural’s threatening Dallas.
Karissa is amusing constantly talking out loud to herself. I fully expected one or more of the werewolves to hear her at some point. And it was great that Hale was finally able to smell something since his nose was broken so many years ago.
Fast moving action and sexy romance. An escape adventure with clear police / good vs fighting against evil.

This was my first book from this author. Even though I’m reading from a very established series, I was able to keep up and understand what was going on quite easily. There was a good plot and there weren’t unnecessary characters thrown in within the storyline, which I always appreciate. Action happened all throughout and kept me engaged the entire time. The love story was great and the past was realistic with how everyone acted and reacted. Overall, I definitely enjoyed this book and interested to see what happens next!

Wild As a Wolf is the 15th book in Paige Tyler’s SWAT series. Considering the amount of books in this series, you really need to have read them all in order to fully understand all of the references and truly enjoy the book. That’s just my opinion, but a lot has happened.
In this installment, SWAT member Hale Delaney is inexplicably reunited with his former girlfriend, Karissa Bonifay. As with all of the books, Karissa is clearly “The One” for Hale but things are slightly complicated because she can magically summon a sword and he is a werewolf. In addition, there are some other supernatural creatures that the SWAT team has never encountered. Give it to Paige Tyler to continue to introduce new supernaturals to what is starting to become a crowded scene.
I really enjoyed Wild As a Wolf. There was a lot of action and some twists that I actually didn’t see coming. Considering the fact that there are 15 books, Paige continues to up the ante. I really would have thought she would have ran out of ideas by now. Of course, she ramps up the passion as well. Hale and Karissa are good together and Paige doesn’t make the mistake of following the format as all of the previous books. Just when you think you have it all figured out, she throws a change-up. I continue to love how the SWAT Team operates as a cohesive family unit and always have each others’ backs. There is a lot of action and fun fight scenes. Karissa is an excellent fighter and her mythology is something that was totally unexpected. This is one of those books that I could clearly see as a movie. I can’t wait to see how this all ends.

Wild as a Wolf is the latest addition to Tyler’s SWAT series and the story of werewolf Hale Delaney. Supernaturals are attacking the city of Dallas and Delaney’s team of SWAT wolves is working to stop the murder and chaos that has become rampant. Defending himself against one supernatural he finds himself surprised to discover a female warrior’s actions protecting him from danger. That woman happens to be his high school sweetheart Karissa Bonifay now a Paladin, warrior of Athena. Immediate re-connection happens despite remaining hurt feelings from their separation unexplained back in high school. The story develops around that as they do their jobs and work as quite a team. Where is it going to lead? The reader will find suspense, new supernaturals, gods and goddesses, family controversy, romance, and more. It’s been a while since I’ve read a Paige Tyler novel and Wild as a Wolf reminds me that I should add more of her work to my to-read list. Highly recommended.

Second chance romance werewolf-style! I greatly anticipate each new sizzling and suspenseful installment that comes out in the S.W.A.T. paranormal romance series and Wild As a Wolf was no exception the way it dove in from the opening lines and kept up the pace to the end.
Wild as a Wolf is fifteenth in the series and I’ve enjoyed getting the books in order, but I think newbies would have little trouble diving into most books in the series.
Hale has already seen himself as subpar for a werewolf because his sense of smell is not as keen as others since his nose was broken as a teen, but he’s made up for that deficit by training hard in other disciplines and working with his alpha wolf team.
The Dallas area has been hit with some big baddies that give the powerful alpha wolves of the SWAT team a run for their money and I was delighted when Hale was rescued by a mysterious warrior woman when he was losing to one of these supervillains in an alley.
Only, she’s not unknown to him. Karissa is his teenage crush and the woman he’s never forgotten. Karissa was hurt when things broke off between her and Hale when they had a good thing going in their teens. They both carried some blame and hurt, but I really appreciated how the pair kept the angst from this to a minimum and acted like mature adults when they sorted it out. Attraction is as strong as ever and now they have to get to know their adult selves with the paranormal secrets they are both keeping.
Wild As a Wolf was just what I look for when I come to this series. Strong and suspenseful paranormal policing action and a mature adult romance, alpha team camaraderie, and villains to make it interesting. I can’t tout this series to PNR fans enough.

This novel is the latest addition in Paige Tyler’s SWAT series. Though I have not read any of her previous work, I was absolutely able to read this as a stand-alone with no problems! I would recommend reading it from the beginning though, as I am sure there’s plenty to know prior to this.
A gang of a supernaturals are causing havoc and harm on the streets of Dallas and Hale Delaney’s team of wolves is on the prowl to prevent it from becoming worse, and hopefully, stop it altogether. But after Hale gets his hide saved by a mysterious woman wielding a sword, stopping the supernaturals is no longer the only thing on his mind. That woman is no other than his high school sweetheart, Karissa Bonifay.
Their connection is immediate, and with a nose that hasn’t worked properly, all he could smell his her lilac scent. The hurt feelings and turmoil between the two are all too real as they talk and explain. Karissa’s abilities being a paladin being a reason for the distance that slowly grew between them all that time ago.
This twisty crime thriller is packed full of exciting surprises and action around every corner. Incredible protagonists and antagonists combined with all the emotionally charged romance leaves little to be wished for. The high tension and drama keeps the story pushing on as we watch Hale figure out that Karissa is The One, and just as heartbreaking to read the backstory and how he was born on ‘the wrong side of the tracks’.
The romance is not lost in the other genres involved or the plot in any fashion because the drama and steam is real, and heavy! I highly recommend this series if you have a great love for paranormal romance overall.

I really enjoy this series and have from the start. Hale and Karissa have a history dating back to high school, they dated until Hale suddenly disappeared and Karissa had no idea why until they meet again almost 13 years later. Hale finds himself in that just might end his life until a bright light and a sword appears and when the light dims he sees Karissa. Karissa never expects to see Hale again let alone save his life but fate has something special in store for the two of them.
Can't wait for the next story in this series.

I love this SWAT series and watching each teammate find their "one". SWAT alpha Hale Delaney and Karissa Bonifay (a sword-wielding warrior) get their second chance at love. There is angst, baggage, supernatural's, some humor, tears, danger, murder, suspense, secrets, wonderful friends and problem family, lots of action and steam all to get us to a HEA.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:

Karissa is the perfect match for him and I hope she and her adorable brother will resurface in Carter and Mike's stories. Another fantastic read by one of my favorite authors. Hale grew up as the child of criminals on the wrong side of the tracks. In high school, he and Karissa fell in love....until he's violently told that she was done with him. Add in a few threats from her police family, and Hale, and his family, got gone. They never spoke again until she shows up out of nowhere to help save his life. However, they've both changed since high school and become supernaturals and they're each keeping their secrets.
If you enjoy a sexy adventure filled novel, you will love this book. I was shocked by the final resolution - it was one I never saw coming. The author kept me hooked until the last page. This one is a must read for fans of the genre. While this is part of a series, this is a stand alone novel, however, it's so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all. The author is on my must read authors' list.

After being separated for ten years, Hale and Karissa are reunited. Hale is a werewolf and on the SWAT team in Dallas. He and the team are after five men who seem to be invincible. While being cornered by two, Hale is fighting for his life, when Karissa shows up and saves him. Karissa works for her family's security company but also has gifts given to her by Athena. She's in town with her brother to protect a millionaire who has an assassin after him. Karissa's gift lets her know when danger is around and she must protect them.
Hale realizes Karissa is The One for him, and between them trying to figure out how to defeat these supernatural beings and trying to fix their broken relationship, they find out why they broke up to begin with and who was at fault.
Excellent story. Sex. Action. Suspense. Second chance at love. Family interference. Crazy bad guys. Hale and Karissa are perfect for each other. I loved how Karissa didn't freak out when she found out about Hale.

Hale and Karissa grew up on the opposite side of the tracks and despite that, they were beginning to fall in love as teens. We even get to hear about their first date and boy was it so cute I was squealing! But then her family got involved and broke them up because they didn't approve of him. Years later they bump into each other once again and surprise, they are both supernatural beings. So now they can be together.
This series really imprinted on me as a young adult and I have tried every book in this series since I discovered paranormal romances and here are my hot takes:
PT's books absolutely peaked and now they are over that hump. They aren't good anymore. I really really enjoyed the beginning of this series, and they have gone from paranormal romances to paranormal stories that feel very surface level. I hate when a book is labeled a romance and the love story portion is so rushed that the reader is surprised that the characters are together. This series gets more and more vague with each addition that I really don't care anymore.
I loved the concept of this book, and that this was a second chance romance and there was a semi-valid reason these two broke up as teenagers and I really liked the tension between them until they got back together. But I absolutely did not care about any of the action stuff or the lore that was brought up. This book had them get together way too quickly with too few obstacles between them. There was, however, a great scene where Hale showed up at her apartment just in the nick of time to save her and that timing was perfect. Everything else was not as perfect, though.
I'm bummed out. It just feels like these books are rushed to get a bunch published as opposed to being a good story.
This series really imprinted on me as a young adult and I have tried every book in this series since I discovered paranormal romances and here are my hot takes:

Glad that I returned back to this series. I can see why X-Ops puttered out when reading this series. The characters are more engaging. In addition, the new supernaturals popping up are intriguing. This series does seem to be building up to a big show down. So many alphas together and all finding their One? The One who also happens to make them stronger?
I liked how Greek mythos was introduced here with supernatural intent. Seeing two high school lovers finding each other and learning the truth about their past is vindicating.
The twists and turns of this story are a bit heartbreaking. Learning about one's family can change the dynamics in unexpected ways. Finding out that love is conditional is painful. I did feel the family situation was not resolved and could come to bite them in the future. For now, there is a happily ever after. Recommended for PNR readers who love fated mates with second chance themes.

Different. More supernatural factions are introduced which I’m not sure I like. Too many can be confusing and can take away from the main story. Fortunately Thomas Bailey and Dario Tamm were both interesting characters. The Balaur could have been better defined, but their time in the SWAT universe may be over.
To me, Hale and Karissa didn’t have any chemistry. What is going on with Carter drew my attention more than they did. The story was really uneventful as far as the series goes.

This is Hale Delaney's story, the wolf with the nose that won't smell. These SWAT stories are just so addicting. I love to see how each member of the Dallas SWAT team find their mate. This is Hale's second chance story and it's a good one. An added bonus is what new paranormal creatures Paige is going to dream up in each book. This has three new kinds and we meet some previously unknown fast shifting werewolves that I'm sure we will see in a future book. We also learn Hale's back story on why his nose was so badly damaged before his conversion.
Hale Delaney's nose doesn't pick up smells like the rest of his pack. He was badly beaten in his youth by a girlfriend's three older brothers that put him in the hospital for three days. Surprisingly that wasn't the near death experience that pushed his werewolf genes to activate. That came later while saving people trapped in a warehouse fire that was an illegal fight club. It was a job his criminal family sent him to. He and Karissa Bonifay, his high school sweetheart, had made plans. Her cop family wanted them separated given his background and her new skills. He meets her again in the middle of the worst fight of his life when she drops in to rescue him. She's definitely changed since he knew her at sixteen. He and his team are dealing with five supernaturals now referred to as the Gang of 5. These are the Balauri, the dragons of Rome that were bred to fight in the arena. They're strong, fast, aggressive and have nearly impervious skin. SWAT reaches out to Davina DeMirci, a witch in LA that works with STAT that knows supernaturals.
Karissa Bonifay is now a sword wielding supernatural known as a Paladin - a daughter of Athena. She was chosen as the next representative of Athena when the previous one was killed. She comes to the aid of those in need and innocents needing rescue. She works with her family's private security firm who finds her jobs that pay well. Somehow she doesn't seem to share in the wealth. This op is a private security job protecting Dominic Patterson, CEO and major owner of Patterson Automotive Group. Her partner is tech specialist Deven, her 18 year old younger brother. The assassin seems to appear out of shadows and is strong and deadly. We later learn he's Thomas Bagley, a 270 year old living embodiment of the Greek god Deimos. He was the god of dread and terror who enjoys the hunt and killing. He's already killed five previous Paladins. He's extremely hard to kill and way stronger that her. The story weaves all these baddies together with the SWAT team and how they bring them down. Hale and Karissa get their second chance finding that they are "The One" for each other.

'Wild as a Wolf' goes deep into the territory of supernaturals, with Paige Tyler throwing in avatars of ancient gods and goddesses for good measure. The fundamental werewolf-finding-his-mate theme is still a constant throughout nonetheless, especially when SWAT team member Hale Delaney suddenly finds a vital part of his senses working again after an ex-girlfriend saves his hide from a near-indestructible enemy.
It's an easy to put down and take up again sort of read, and while it all sounds rather complicated, Tyler really does make each book a standalone. The werewolf mythos in this series isn't hard to follow either--it's explained in one way or another in every book--and the varying plots of alpha/beta werewolves is generally a straightforward, action-packed one with not too many surprises that would get you up and yelling in disbelief.
Hale and Karissa didn't exactly have a difficult way back to each other; both seemed easily accepting of their own gifts and abilities. In fact, I had expected more friction between them but the smooth run of their relationship (after they got past Karissa's family's harmful shenanigans) paved the way for their somewhat abrupt HEA as the ending wrapped up in a rather neat and convenient way.
I simply wasn't too sold on the weird (and random) insertion of 'celestial' avatars with the other supernatural creatures which just felt wonky and out of place somehow, in a universe still steeped more dirtside than the Greek heavenlies. I'd love to see Tyler explore the other facets of the supernaturals that she has already introduced (like the undead, or other types of shapeshifters, maybe?) so fingers crossed there's still a chance of that.

Wild as a Wolf is 2nd chance paranormal romance that balances plot, humor, emotion & action into an entertaining story with a satisfying HEA ending. While this is the 15 story in the series, it works fairly well as a standalone book. The author centers the story around a small portion of the overall (large) cast of the series but still references/providing needed tidbits of info regarding the rest and the world the author has created (and continues to expand). Hale & Karissa were high school sweethearts and were looking & planning a future together despite the being from opposite sides of the track/city and the (great) dismay of both their parents/family. They believed that love would help them overcome those any other obstacles until torn apart by deception that left them believing the other had left breaking their heart. 10 years later, events put them back in each other's path and the realization that those broken hearts haven't quite healed after all. Much has changed during that time, not the least of which is them learning about and taking their places amongst the hidden paranormal and powerful enemies of their own out to stop them. the author does a good job of handling the emotion and pace (and lots of action) as Hale & Karissa work to discover if young love can survive the ashes and time to be strong enough to save them from past & present obstacles after all.

The SWAT werewolves of Dallas are back in another exhilarating addition to this gripping series.
From the very first sentence to the last, this book will have you at the edge of your seat with your heart in your throat for so many reasons. There are the mysterious new supernatural villains that seem to be indestructible, Karissa’s abilities and her family’s business, the intense chemistry between Hale and Karissa, and Karissa’s mortal enemy, to name a few.
Hale and Karissa used to date in high school right at the time when she was bestowed with her powers and before he became a werewolf. A huge misunderstanding broke them apart. Now, the attraction between them is even stronger and they figured out what went wrong all those years ago fairly quickly and without unnecessary dramatics. From that point on they made a formidable team, along with Hale’s pack and Karissa’s brother.
The action is fast-moving and thrilling. Don’t miss this entire series if you like hunky werewolves, exciting action, and steamy second chances. This book can be read on its own, but I think it’s best to start at the beginning.

Addiction feed thyself. My mind is always blown with Paige Tylers world of supernatural. Different twists, never the same old same old and I love how each time a supernatural finds out about another supernatural they are shocked, lol. Each book can be read as a stand alone but I say treat yourself. There are several series. Our SWAT team, our STAT Team and her X-OPs. She has more, but these 3 are the supernatural or paranormal. Hale our Alpha werewolf grew up on the wrong side of the tracks with family involved in the mob. Karissa his girlfriend from high school comes from police and lets be honest, money loving people. She is a warrior herself, I have seen spoilers but I think you should read and learn right along with Hale :) There are twists and turns, fights that end with everyone hurting evil running around. Karissa's family, well she was a lot nicer to them then I would be, except for younger brother Delvin of course. I highly recommend this book and the 3 series they take you into a new world that entertains, steams and causes rampant heart beat. Thank you for the arc! Already book 15 in the hunky SWAT series. Page is almost out of wolves! Only Hale, Mike and Carter are single, the rest has found ‘the One’. As we already knew from the previous parts, Hale’s nose is working like crap. But in wild As a Wolf, we finally learn why his nose was busted in the first place.
Furthermore, Page introduces us to some more magical species, who appear to be almost impossible to kill. until Larissa enters the arena. Hale’s ex-girlfriend-now-turned-badass-superhero. Hale has no idea what happened to Karissa, since the ten years before when she broke it off with him. But apparently she is able to kick some serious ass! And even better, around her, Hale can suddenly smell again.
So, he is fairly certain that she is The One. But how to tell her about being a werewolf? Or even to get into her graces, because she definitely doesn’t seem to be happy to see him. STAT and SWAT series are somewhat blending, but as long as there are hunky werewolves involved, I’m not complaining. I do hope that Carter will get his HEA, because my heart goes out to the lonely omega. Surely Page will not leave him be?! In all, five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Wild as a Wolf is #15 in Paige Tyler's SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team Series. While it can be read as a stand alone, you get much more depth from the series if you have read the previous books. The main leads are Hale and Karissa, and this is a second chance at love story. Hale and Karissa were teenagers in love before they were separated by their families. When they meet again 10 years later, they realize the feelings they had for each other have never left.
Karissa is now working in private security and is trying to keep her client from being killed. Hale is working as a member of the Dallas PD SWAT team. Separate and together they are facing off 2 unknown supernatural hitmen. Throughout the story they find they are stronger together than apart.
Paige's worldbuilding is still fascinating and in-depth. We get to revisit with many characters from the previous books. Her characters are well defined and interesting. I am really enjoying this series and am hoping for more.

This one was interesting on a couple different levels, one being lots of new supernatural beings that the team needed info on and the other being that Hale and Karissa had a past.
It was interesting that both Hale and Karissa kept saying that the other was the one that got away, the one that broke their heart. But I found I was pissed when we learned what happened and how each one was manipulated. I'm glad that didn't let that stop things for them in the present and how towards the end, it gave Karissa the freedom to make some great changes in her life, so that she actually had a life, one with Hale. So great to see them happy together.
But before Hale and Karissa could be happy they had to battle these seemingly unkillable creatures. With the help of STAT, they figured out a way to hurt the 5 and make them stop terrorizing the community. What was a little harder was the assassin that Karissa was after, that turned out to be so much more. With the help of Hale and SWAT guys, the threat was neutralized.

Hale is battling some super tough, almost unbeatable, bad guy when a woman with a sword shows up to help him fight the bad guy off. Karissa is amazed to see that her old boyfriend is who she helped save. Then they find that another bad guy is coming after Karissa. The bad guys keep coming after both of them. Will they be able to defeat these two different but formidable foes, or will they be taken down? Read this to find out!
The pace is breakneck and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with an action and character oriented storyline that has some steamy scenes. The characters are vivid and kickass. Read these in order, but you also need to read the 3 STAT stories as well. Unfortunately, I can't remember where they fit into the SWAT series! All 3 are definitely to be read before this one. Enjoy this action packed paranormal romance.

Betrayal, Suspense and OMG no words
WOW I love this series but this book there are no words. Hale and Karissa were meant to be from the beginning. Ten years ago her older brothers were sent to discourage Hale from seeing Karissa and beat the teen landing him in the hospital. It wasn't until a chance encounter brought them together again and the truth was revealed. Talk about an intense story OMG not to mention Karissa's family were using her gifts to get rich. Their own child. They put her life at risk when they hired a hit man to make a name for themselves. But their plan backfired when he went rogue. I loved everything about Hale's story. Jammed packed with action and it kept you on the edge of your seat. Now I really want Carter's book next I'm needing to understand him and I want his story.

I really enjoyed this. Hale is a noble, sexy hero who came from humble origins to be a respected member of an elite squad. Karissa uses her amazing abilities to help people. They were great together.

All the books are excitement from the first to last page. The characters are fabulous, and the fighting intense. The are also a few steamy scenes.
