Sugarplum Falls #4

Blame It on the Blizzard

Rate this book
Two authors walk into a bar…

Only it wasn’t a bar. It was a hotel in the small town of Sugarplum Falls, and it was completely booked.

Of course fate couldn’t be satisfied with leaving us stranded during the worst blizzard on record. No, it had to toss in a tiny cabin with only one bed as the cherry on top.

I hadn’t planned to take a last-minute trip, but when the deadline for my book was breathing down my neck, I had no choice. I packed my bags and went in search of the inspiration I needed to get rid of the writer’s block that was keeping me from finishing.

The only problem was that I found so much more than that. Like an attractive stranger with a knack for pushing me out of my comfort zone. A friendly barista who makes the BEST lattes. And learning enough about my past that it makes me question everything I thought I knew.

I loved reading about living happily ever after, but that didn’t mean I had any clue how to do it.

By far my favorite of these holiday novellas by Samantha Baca. I mean she’s a genius putting a romance author and a thriller author in a forced proximity due to weather and they have to share a bed!!! He’s hot and can cook, she’s not sure about him and don’t trust anyone but the fact he watches porn for research has her thinking of wanting more. I mean it is such a perfect meet cute and how these two help each other is magic. There so much I’m not sharing and for good reason. You need to read this book! Highly recommend!!!

What happens when a romance author and a thriller author walk into a hotel lobby at the same time looking for rooms because of the bad weather outside, and they are both turned away because they're are no more rooms available in town? The strangers find themselves sharing a small, crowded cabin with only one bed for the Christmas holiday.
All the worst-case scenarios are running through Brynlee’s head as she is a true crime addict, while Sebastian is trying to convince her he isn't going to kill her. Which is exactly what someone trying to kill you would do, right?

Sugarplum Falls is quickly becoming a favorite small town of mine and I'd love to find the real-life version of it somewhere. I'm starting to believe this town is magical with all the cute and meaningful stories that are coming out of this series. Brynlee and Sebastian are adorable together once Sebastian finally convinces Brynlee that he isn't going to kill her. Both authors are up against deadlines and they help each other through not only their writing issues, but their life issues. Memories come up from Brynlee's past as a child in the foster care system, and Sebastian helps her through them, even while turning him away. Sebastian is a sweet cinnamon roll who doesn't give up on Brynlee. I loved all the holiday movie references in this book. Especially my favorite holiday movie - Love Actually. If you're a movie person, this book is for you.

THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU IF: You love holiday reads that include being snowed in, strangers helping each other out, and heartwarming surprises.

Such a cute adorable Christmas novella set in the most magical town Sugarplum Falls. The main male character, Sebastian was adorable and the way he supports Brynlee was perfect. There are plenty of swoon worthy moments and the right amount of spice. I adored the reoccurring characters from previous stories as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this and this being my second read from the series I cannot wait to read more.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A Hallmark movie of a Christmas novella, it's a good read. Two strangers stuck together on a small cottage with only one bed. Both are authors and Christmas magic happens.

When a rapidly approaching blizzard forces her off the road in the small town of Sugarplum Falls, thriller author Brynlee Adams is dismayed to learn that neither of the local hotels has any rooms available. A local man offers her the use of his tiny cabin instead; the only problem is that she'll have to share it with handsome stranger Sebastian, who's also stranded because of the storm. Brynlee's addiction to true crime documentaries and horror movies immediately makes her suspicious of Sebastian, no matter how much he tries to put her at ease. The situation becomes even more awkward when he reveals that he's also an author; in fact, he's Brynlee's favorite romance author, whom she previously thought was a woman. Now that she knows the truth, she can't help wondering about the inspiration for his books' steamy scenes...and imagining herself acting them out, with Sebastian in the starring role.

Both Brynlee and Sebastian were likeable protagonists, and I enjoyed the aspects of the plot related to Brynlee's mysterious past and reconnecting with her family. Unfortunately, I wasn't so much a fan of their romance. I just didn't feel the chemistry between them, possibly because of Brynlee's early fixation on Sebastian as a potential serial killer. She genuinely seemed scared of him, which was understandable given the situation, but doesn't exactly lend itself to a burgeoning romance. Sebastian's behavior was concerning to me as well. In a lot of ways, it felt like he was putting on a show because both of his big emotional confessions happened in front of Brynlee's aunt and cousin. It's like he had written his and Brynlee's story in his head and was trying to force it to become real.

Bottom line, while not everything about this story worked for me, I'd still recommend it for fans of steamy contemporary romance. I look forward to the author's next release.

What happens when two authors find themselves stranded in a small Christmas obsessed town two weeks before the holiday with the only place to stay is a small cabin in the woods? A real life Christmas romance!

Both on deadlines to finish manuscripts and needing a place to focus, thriller author, Brynlee and erotic romance writer, Sebastian, find themselves in Sugarplum Falls with a major blizzard on the way. While they may be strangers, a bit of forced proximity, some Christmas cheer and a whole lot of tension filled chemistry soon have them both finding something neither was looking for. And, that isn't the only surprise Sugar Plum Falls has in store for them as Brynlee also makes some shocking discoveries about herself.

Will it be too much too quick or will this holiday romance make it through the New Year?

Blame it on the Blizzard was just too cute, too sweet and definitely spicy enough to keep you warm enough on a cold and snowy night!

I loved the meet cute for this couple and absolutely adored Brynlee's overactive true crime imagination. Sebastian was an ooey gooey cinnamon roll of a man and was as sexy as he was sweet. I loved watching him and Brynlee together as their relationship quickly evolved.

The drama in this book was completely unexpected and takes a very heartwarming twist. And, Sebastian is definitely the romantic hero Brynlee didn't even know she needed. 4.5 stars!

Yet another brilliant book in this brilliant series. In this book we meet Brynlee and Sebastian. Brynlee has always felt alone, abandoned by her parents brought up in the care system. Until she was old enough to go out on her own, but still she couldn't find where she truly belonged. Having to finish her book before Christmas she decided to go find a quiet spot to hopefully find an end to her writers block. Sebastian is an acclaimed writer of steamy romance novels and is struggling to finish or rather start his next book so he takes off to see if something jumps out and helps with his writing. Both caught in a snow storm in Sugarplum Falls no hotel rooms and no rooms at the Inn they are lucky enough to be given a cabin to share. But things aren't always what they seem and sometimes fate has a way of putting you in the right place at the right time. Being back in Sugarplum Falls with alot of the characters from previous books it feels like going back to a familiar place. I would love for Sam to feature more in his own book. If you love Christmas and love a sweet charming story ok with a few steamy bits this is definitely for you. I was lucky enough to receive this as an ARC copy and this is my own personal and honest opinion and review of the book. I truly hope you'll enjoy and love it as much as I have

Blame It On The Blizzard

❤️This is my ARC review, release day 17.11.23❤️

❤️This is the 4th book in the Sugarplum Falls series❤️

This was my first book by Samantha Baca and I have to say it was a good choice.
Take this book, sit by your Christmas tree with hot chocolate and let´s start.
I expected only a cute short story about finding the right one during the storm in one cabin, but Samantha Baca achieved so much more.
Brynlee and Sebastian are forced to spend few days in small cabin during snow storm together. I laught so much as Brynlee tried to make Sebastian a serial killer. But after short time they find their way to co-exist in small room together and help each other by writting their own book-stories. Chramed by the Christmas mood of Sugarplum Fall they develop feelings, but Sebastian has to fight to make Brynlee believe, she is worth of love despite her past. But maybe by some Christmas miracle she will find not only her forever with Sebastian but something more too.

I enyojed this story very much, it was funny, I loved the banter between Seb and Brynlee, and I think this is the book I am going to re-read by my Christmas tree.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksirens and I am voluntarily leaving my review ❤️.

I loved the twist in this story it really warmed my heart
Blame it on the Blizzard by Samantha Baca is book 4 in the Sugarplum Falls series where all the town loves Christmas.
This is were Brynlee and Sebastian find themselves stranded during a Blizzard, they both need a place to stay to wait out the Blizzard....But there is no rooms at the hotel.
A kind local man takes pity on them and offers an alternative, they can stay in his cabin they both say yes because they have no choice.
Sebastian and Brynlee are strangers until that moment but have one thing in common they are both authors, who are on a deadline.
Staying in the cabin together they are forced to get to know one another and do get along even helping eachother write their books.
They are also completely attracted to eachother and it is only a matter of time before they cross the line.
This audiobook was a delight to listen to narrated wonderfully by Ava Townsend, she is amazing with her story telling. Her voice was clear smooth and easy to listen too,I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook.
Its a steamy little holiday romance with a twist like I said before.
I loved it.

I have to say this book was so cute!!! Samantha Baca put a thriller author and a romance author together and made a beautiful book! It was such a smart move to make two authors go through a real life forced proximity trope/ one bed trope! This was such a clever concept, I mean they really lived out the best romance book life. Their careers really played off of each other as they were both giving each other many ideas to help them get their manuscript done, Sebastian was essentially a cinnamon roll hero and Brynlee was really all about finding herself.

Reading this series has been so much as I really have fallen in love with Sugarplum Falls! I would love to live there (if only it was real). This book had the right amount of spice and so many romantic aspects and so much self discovery. I cannot wait to read more!

Thank you Samantha and BookSiren for the ARC!

5⭐️'s 2.5/3🌶's

"I wasn’t going to let him see an ounce of my fear or uncertainty. No, sir, no way. Fake it til you make it—or, in my case, fake it until you can make it out alive during an insane blizzard being trapped in a cabin with a sexy stranger who might have other plans to murder you two weeks before Christmas."
This made me giggle out loud. Reading this right in the beginning, I new it was going to be cute.

This story was absolutely ADORABLE!!! I loved it sooooo much!! I "banged" through this book in a matter of hours. My family almost went without dinner because I didn't want to put it down. I was head over heals for Sebastian almost immediately and knew he was going to be great for Brynlee. She needed a little loosening up. The family part was slightly rushed for my taste but I got past that and the overall story was such an uplifting, feel-good, sweet as pie holiday tale that wanted so much more of!!!!

If you have a couple hours free pick this one up and read it, it's so worth it!

Blame it on the Blizzard is book four of the Sugarplum Falls series. It is an adorable holiday novella. Through the course of reading these four books I have completely fallen in love with this small town and all the characters. “My friend Sam always says there’s nothing a little Christmas spirit can’t solve, and if that fails, then eat a candy cane or two”. Sam has become my favorite character in these books, and I love the candy cane references in them.
This is a forced proximity romance with a cinnamon roll hero. Sebastian is good looking, cooks, and is so supportive of Brynlee. Brynlee has a hard time trusting and Sebastian works hard to get her to. Throughout the course of this book they also solve a mystery.

Blame It On The Blizzard brings us back to the small, Christmas crazy town of Sugarplum Falls that brings you all the warm fuzzies and happy endings.

This time, we meet strangers Brynlee and ooey-gooey cinnamon roll, Sebastian, who are forced together when a blizzard hits and the hotels are out of vacancy. In typical Samantha Baca rom-com fashion, there is witty banter, laughs, romance and plenty of spice to warm you up during the cold weather… and in this case, of course Christmas!

What I loved most about this book though, is that I really found myself in the character of Brynlee. Her interests and thoughts all felt so familiar and real to me, really bringing this character and story to life.

Blame It On The Blizzard is book #4 in the Sugarplum Falls series and by FAR my favorite! I was hooked on this story from the get-go. Brynlee and Sebastian happen to find themselves in Sugarplum Falls with no place to stay in a snowstorm. When a cabin with one bed is their only option, things get cozy. I loved these characters! She was independent without being overly snarky. He was definitely manly without being too alpha-holeish. These two had more in common than their careers. Both were living secret lives, hers by chance and his by choice, and this magical holiday town with its Frosty Fest showed them both how to take a chance again. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this story! Nobody writes a steamy holiday story like Ms. Baca.

Two authors snowed in, say no more!

This novella was so dang fun and I loved their relationship so much! Thriller writer meets romance writer was a great touch to this story. Brynlee was hilarious from the very beginning and I loved her immediately. Sebastian is such a cinnamon roll hero and I couldn’t get enough! I love these two together and I love that they found their HEA!

Between the banter, the romance, the spice, the small mystery, and the Christmas spirit, this story has the perfect mix of elements that I love in a Christmas romance! I absolutely loved seeing Sam again! He’s one of my favorite side characters.

Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.

A snowy winter cabin and forced proximity is one of my favorite settings and tropes. As an author, I enjoyed the MCs being authors and the reversal in the traditional roles where the woman is usually the romance author and the man is the thriller/mystery author. Yes, I know women and men can both write good thrillers or romance, but I still enjoyed playing the stereotypes off of each other. Plus, this made the woman more badass and the man more romantic. This allowed for some hilarious banter, too.

The writing was engaging and made for a cozy read. There were lots of heartwarming moments and smiles to be had in Sugarplum Falls and some pretty mild spice. This would be a cozy Christmas read if you're looking for some winter romance fun.

I absolutely loved this story. I adore the town of Sugarplum Falls and all the characters that reside there. It was refreshing to read a story about 2 newcomers who get stuck there during a snowstorm. The forced proximity, one bed, cinnamon roll hero was absolutely perfect. Brynlee is so complex and searching for herself when she is essentially forced to shake up with Sebastian. These two are both authors on deadline stranded together who write different genres. He is the romance writer while she writes suspense. They play off one another, and Sebastian helps Brynlee find herself to solve some mysterys about her past.

This was a fun read! I love a good story with holiday vibes, lots of building tension, and fun characters.
What happens when you are stranded in a small town in the middle of a blizzard and forced to share a cabin (and bed) with a total stranger who also happens to be a fellow author? Brynlee finds herself in this exact situation but makes the best of it and her quality time with Sebastian as they get to know each other. As the days go by and their connection grows... as well as the page count for their books Brynlee begins to think that maybe she could find her own happily ever after in the most unlikely and unexpected place.
I really liked Brynlee’s character. She made me laugh out loud with her serial killer scenarios and her thoughts on Sebastian.
There is so much to love about this adorable story: it will make you laugh, fan yourself a little bit, and want to go and cuddle up in a cozy spot to read!

Love, love, love this story! Just when you like you’ve read enough books by an author and you know how the story is going to unfold, Samantha Baca just pops in and says, “nah, fam! Watch this!”

Blame it on the Blizzard could be simply labeled as a forced proximity, insta-love kind of story, but those would be empty in comparison to what inside the pages.

Brynlee is no damsel in distress in this story, despite being forced to stay in a strangers cabin with a man she only met in a sold out hotel’s lobby. She threatens to throw hands if Sebastian is actually a serial killer, biding his time and searching out his next victim in Sugarplum Falls. Which is oddly specific, but it’s what is turning on the wheels inside Brynlee’s mind, but where else would a Thriller author/true crime binge watchers mind go in this situation?

Sebastian is a true, golden retriever kind of man, using impressive amounts of patience and coaxing to get Brynlee to open up. Doesn’t hurt that he’s an incredibly good loving romance author, either.

Fate plays a large part in Blame it on the Blizzard, but not in the cheesy kind of way. The kind of way that has you believing every moment and every heartache leads to bigger and better things. The fate that comes towards the end had me reaching for the tissue box with lightning speed.

Loved it

Samantha has brought us back to Sugarplum Falls with another wonderful Christmas novella. This was such a fun holiday read. Two authors out looking for inspiration end up getting that and so much more when they snowed in together in tiny cabin while they wait out the storm. I was laughing out loud at the constant talk of murder and swooning over the naughty and nice. I loved the characters in this one and the story had a little of everything, Holiday in a small town, strangers to lovers, forced proximity, found family, and HEA. If you’re looking for an enjoyable holiday read I would highly recommend this one.

Samantha Baca very quickly became one of my must read authors. Her Christmas novellas are such a treat to read.

A couple of weeks before Christmas before in a small town that takes their celebrating of the holiday very seriously, a thriller author and an erotic romance author find themselves stranded. Brynlee and Sebastián both with a pending deadline while their relationship blooms.

I loved watching the relationship unfold. This story was cute with a little spice, I mean Sebastián knows how to write spicy stories.

This story had it all - a very sweet cinnamon roll hero, a strong female lead with a mysterious past, laugh out lout moments, and several steamy parts. Both characters are authors, so they tend to poke fun at author stereotypes and romance tropes. The town of Sugarplum Falls is charming, and the cabin in which our characters stay for the duration of the book is cramped but comfy. If you want a light-hearted holiday read, you can't go wrong with Blame It On the Blizzard.

Tropes - cinnamon roll hero, forced proximity, one bed
Triggers - foster care, blizzard/trapped

Brynlee and Sebastian find out there is no room at any inn when they get stuck in Sugerplum Falls during a snow storm. A friendly local offers them his mountain cabin and they have no choice but to accept his offer despite it having only one bed. Little did they know both are famous authors on a deadline - she writes thrillers, he writes romance. Brynlee had a rough childhood and is scared to risk her heart with anyone - will Sebastian change that? This book reads like a steamy Hallmark Christmas movie, especially when she finds out she has a connection to Sugarplum Falls. It is an easy to read, feel-good romance you will enjoy.

A short Christmas story set in the small town of Sugarplum Falls.

Tropes:
💜 Small town
💜 Snowed in
💜 Forced proximity
💜 Holiday themed
💜 Steamy

A fast-approaching blizzard forces two authors to bunker down and wait it out, in the same cabin, the same tiny cabin!

Brynlee Adams writes thriller novels and needed to get away to concentrate on finishing her book before she misses the deadline, so she decides to take a quick vacation to clear her head and finish.

Sebastian writes romance books and also needed to get away to finish his book before the timeline is up!

Maybe with Christmas around the corner, they both will meet their deadlines and find love at the same time!

This is book 4 in Baca's Sugarplumb Falls series and can be read as a standalone. I think this has been my favorite of her novellas thus far! These characters and this storyline were amazing! Two authors who write completely different genres get stuck in a hotel having to share one bed?!? I loved everything about this book and while short, it doesn't lack for anything. I love it and would highly recommend this one to anyone!

I really enjoyed this she is grumpy/he is sunshine Holiday Romance story!! Brynlee and Sebastian are both writers..she is a mystery thriller who loves horror movies, he writes erotica romance!! Thus is a different take on opposites attraction, forced proximity, throw in the holiday spirit town, charming characters and a Blizzard!! The plot was funny, entertaining and characters witty, and charming. A couple of surprises I won't reveal but you will love!! I know I did!!💖

Recieved this as a free arc and am leaving an honest review and I've gotta say this was such a cute and sweet novella, perfect for getting into the holiday spirit. Brynlee's true crime mindset reminded me so much of my own it was so easy to immerse myself in the story (and be jealous of her meet cute with the epitome of a cinnamon roll, Sebastian!). The banter was fun and I loved the meta aspect - characters in a book calling out their own tropes. The spice amount was perfect and while quick, the plot was good.

Now I just wish I could read their romantic suspense novel!

Blame it on the Blizzard is a perfect book to cozy up to the fire with this holiday season. I couldn't put the book down and was captivated from the start. Will Brynlee and Sebastian be able to write their books in the same room? Will they fall in love before the holiday season is over? Will they be sick of each other when forced to share a room and bed? Pick up the book, have your favorite beverage and sit by the fire and buckle up for an amazing holiday ride!

This was such a great setup for a holiday novella! It covered so many tropes! Strangers meet, thrown together, you knew where this was going, right? I love the predictability that made it feel even more like a Hallmark Christmas movie, but also love the surprising, heartwarming backstory of the characters that will leave you teary-eyed and smiling in the end! I just want to move to Sugarplum Falls! What a great read to get you in the Holiday Spirit!
