Andy Stanton lives in North London. He studied English at Oxford but they kicked him out. He has been a film script reader, a cartoonist, an NHS lackey and lots of other things. He has many interests, but best of all he likes cartoons, books and music (even jazz).

One day he’d like to live in New York or Berlin or one of those places because he’s got fantasies of bohemia. His favourite expression is ‘Good evening’ and his favourite word is ‘captain’. Andy has now written more than one book, but less than twenty.

A delightful story about a little boy (Matthew Buzzington) who wants to turn into a fly. Every time he tries, it doesn’t work and he ends up looking silly. He moves to a new city and to a new school where he becomes the school bully’s (Pineapple Johnson)new prey. His life becomes miserable until he ends up locked in the school with Pineapple and his little sister, while robbers are trying to break in. Together they end up getting the robbers arrested by Matthew finally being able to turn into a fly. This story will appeal to all children, who will love the idea that Matthew was able to turn into a fly and his sister an elephant when they wanted too. I absolutely loved the idea that the school bully was actually a” scaredie “cat who hated the dark and only wanted his mum and dad. Thoroughly Enjoyed!

Not quite as sophiscated as the Mr Gum series of books but I like the way the plotline culiminates bringing together all the threads together at the end. Imaginative and with an off beat sense of humour.
