Giacomo Alberione was born the fifth child of Michael Alberione and Teresa Allocco.

In October 1900, he entered the diocesan seminary of Alba and on June 29,1907 (the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul) was ordained a priest. He became a parish priest in Narzole and late

On August 20, 1914, in Alba, he initiated the Society of St. Paul.

He went on to found: The Association of Pauline Cooperators (1918), The Pious Disciples of the Divine Master (PDDM), with Servant of God Mother Maria Scolastica Rivata (1924), The Sisters of Jesus the Good Shepherd (also known as: "Pastorelle") (1938), The Sisters of Mary Queen of Apostles (1957),
The Institute of St. Gabriel the Archangel (lay consecrated men whose apostolate is also that of the Society of St. Paul) (1958), The Institute of Mary of the Annunciation (lay consecrated women whose apostolate is also that of the Society of St. Paul) (1958), The Institute of Jesus the Priest (for diocesan clergy who would like to adopt the Pauline Spirituality to their ministry) (1959), and The Institute of the Holy Family (for married couples) (1960).

In 1954, to celebrate the 40 anniversary of foundation of the Pauline Family, Fr. Alberione for the first time allowed something about himself to be written down (the material appears in the book Mi protendo in avanti - “I Strain Ahead”).

From 1962-1965, Fr. Alberione attended daily the sessions of Vatican Council II.

On June 25, 1996, Pope John Paul II signed the decree recognizing the heroic virtues of the future Blessed. He was beatified, again by Pope John Paul II, on April 27, 2003.

There is so much to learn from here, no matter your vocation or way of life. Alberione's laser focus on being of practical use to the Church is so fruitful for all of us!
