A book about a President many Filipino’s have forgotten, overshadowed by his successor - who to my surprise was his protege whom he betrayed.

There are many layers to Quirino’s story that’s buried under stories such as his “Golden Orinola” which was the little I knew about him before reading this book (do note: this was dispelled by a couple of professors I had in college as the lessons centered on dirty tactics in politics). Aside from him being born in a jail, historical tidbits that entice like gossip, not much is known about him which is a shame. And what keeps people from knowing is the scarcity of such a book in the general public.

I hope this gets republished for us to get a glimpse of how well meaning people get eaten by a system, for us to realize that there were and still are good people caught in a bad system, and how our history repeats itself to our continuing misery.
