This is a simple touch and feel book for babies, a text like this is great for tactile skills. The animals and vibrant colors give babies plenty to look at and interact with. The prompt I chose [What sub-format or category is the picturebook (e.g., ABC, Counting, Concept/Informational, Participation, Wordless, Predictable, Beginning Reader, Storybook, Graphic Novel, Engineered, or Baby/Board)? How do you know?] is shown to be a Baby/Board book through these qualities.
A serviceable, I suppose, if perhaps too short, touch and feel book. I dunno. It's mostly fine. The phrasing is a bit awkward sometimes. But otherwise, there's really nothing to say. Just generic.
Cute book with fluffy and smooth animals to touch. The rhymes rhyme and have a good rhythm too. I like it that the cow page says the cow is "looking out at you"--way to draw a little kiddo into the book.
My son loves touch and feel books, but 3 of the 5 animals in this book have very similar textures, so he doesn't find this one as exciting as some of the other touch and feel books. He does, however, love the pink pig texture, whatever that is, as we don't have that in any of our other books!
This book series is wonderful for exploring little fingers who are learning new textures but also learning their animals. My oldest made me read these books every day for about three months because he loved learning about the animals and their sounds.
I wish this book were longer. there are only 5 animals so it is very short. sometimes in this kind of book, instead of cloth spots some just have shiny areas that don't feel different, but this book had different textures in all five animals. there were also a lot of words for mom to read.
1/9/17 read this again tonight. I like the soft spots in the pictures a lot. there is even a soft place on the cover!
