Retribution

Rate this book
Retribution is a story designed to point out how rape is mismanaged in the United States. It describes how rape cases are handled by the legal profession and judges. One victims father wins the New York State Lottery the day his daughter dies after she is raped and murdered. He uses the lottery winnings in a rather unusual way to attempt to get the attention of anyone who could affect change in how convicted rapists are handled. After Mr. Hepp handles several rapists, he realizes that innocent people were being hurt. He still thinks that more needs to be done to solve the problem. He finally ends his life in a very dramatic fashion. His wife continues to try to solve the problem. Retribution, although fiction, is an attempt to bring to the publics attention the problems rape brings to society.

I met this author at a book festival. She had a series of 4 books sitting at her table. I read the synopsis of Retribution and it looked like it would be interesting. But it was the 3rd book in a series. Do I have to read them all? I don't really like to read series books. I have a to read list a mile long. She told me the books were a series but also stand alone. I really wanted to try one of them. She was a nice lady and didn't push. My husband encouraged me to buy two so I bought this one and the 4th book. It took me a few weeks but I finally got around to reading Retribution. Was it going to hold my interest? Would I feel lost because I hadn't read the first two. The only thing I can say about not reading the whole series is, I'm sorry I didn't. This book was fabulous. A quick read that I couldn't set down. It was heart pounding and thrilling. Yes, I could predict some of it. But it was still thrilling. There were events I didn't see coming. Just excellent.
Don't be like me. Read all four so that you don't miss any of this authors stories. I feel like Lizzy lives next door to me. She could be my neighbor. My Friday night martini buddy. A new friend. WOW. Just WOW.
