This illustrated reference book introduces middle readers to the many types of shells found on the coasts of North America while discussing the various sea animals that once lived in them.
I took this book to Myrtle Beach for vacation with a large family group. We all (especially my mother, 15 y/o son and 7 y/o niece) enjoyed looking up and identifying the shells we discovered!
This book is full of extremely accessible information about gastropods, bivalves, and other little guys that populate the sea. Some of it is downright bizarre! Share these facts with friends and/or strangers.
I use the field guide as a pictorial resource for my preschool students when we have seashells available for their study. The photographs make the book accessible to pre-readers.
