Chloe Simon has a problem. The semen she received did not belong to her selected donor, a sensitive patron of the arts. It belonged to a special operations soldier who only banked his sperm in case he and his mission blew up. Now Dev Gallagher is back, staking a claim on their unborn child. He wants to marry her, enjoy some buried to the hilt sex, and then divorce her after the baby's birth. Her head says no, but her heart and hormones scream an orgasmic yes! The hormones win.
Chloe opts out of the marriage proposal, but opts in for a trip to his mountain cabin for the promised mind-blowing sex.
The worst job Sabine ever had was at a special place located in retail hell. Every shift was life in slow motion.
It was better to work in restaurants and bars and hospitals. Military service was an improvement, including the unpaid job as a military spouse. Eventually, she began to write. She wrote about hospitals and research and veterans. Finally, in 2008, she published her first novel. And then another.
Now she's back with the new Obosian Warriors series. Her work celebrates a simple fact. There's nothing like the friction and attraction between men and women to spice up life. Or fiction.
When not reading or writing, Sabine enjoys her family, live music, abstract needlepoint, and the rare DIY home project.
Chloe Simon wants a baby, but not by the usual methods. Due to an overbearing father and a couple of boyfriends who weren't in it for the long haul, she's through with relying on men. So this kindergarten teacher decides to get artificially inseminated by an anonymous donor of her choosing--someone with her family's "artistic gene" that passed her (but not her brother) by. But due to a foul up at the lab, what she gets is not a sperm sample from a kind, gentle, artistic sort, but rather a sample from a brown haired, green-eyed alpha military hunk, who was only banking his sample in case something happened to him while on the battlefield. But now Chloe's five months along, and Special Ops soldier Sgt. Dev Gallagher doesn't want his child to be born a bastard, and suggests he and Chloe go away together to his mountain cabin for a couple of weeks so they can iron out their differences regarding the whole situation. Will the fact that Chloe and Dev are wildly attracted to each other make things easier...or harder?
Hot, hot hot little fast paced read here, with some decent writing and a situation that's not all black and white--the author throws in a couple of curveballs that I didn't see coming. Some very steamy sex scenes too that made me think "hmm, we may have something here, I can see that this may evolve into love" since the characters seemed to get along outside of the bedroom too and definitely had a connection. This was heading towards a five star read until a couple of things sort of threw me off the track. *****SPOILER COMING******** The first was sort of an "icky" thing for me--most of the times when Dev made love to Chloe he referred to himself as "Daddy", which sort of icked me out. I'm hoping it was because he was all caught up in actually becoming a "Daddy" but I'm not so sure, because in a later scene he referred to Chloe as his "little girl"--yuk. That sort of doused the flames a bit for me in what were some really hot scenes.***** Another problem was something that Dev set up with one of his Army buddies to sort of test Chloe's loyalty to him (he was burned in the past by a cheating wife and a cheating fiancee). I didn't agree with it, and didn't like Chloe's response to "the test". So, because of these two blips on an otherwise hot little ebook, I had to adjust my rating. But not a bad effort by an author who I never read before--if I come across any other books by Sabine Ferruci I'll definitely give them a look. Just please, no more icky references during the love scenes please.:) 4 stars
Auntee already wrote a very nice review so here are my thoughts:
Good parts: - Funny, engaging story and characters - Sexy, hot love scenes
Not-So-Good parts: - I was creeped out by the hero calling himself "Daddy" during love scenes - The whole scenario of how and why they met was very out there (especially the real reason the hero was the daddy - creepy) - The hero's "test" of the heroine was just wrong but the heroine's response made me wonder about her supposed love just for the hero, it seemed like she would have been just as happy with his friend.
The good still outweighed the bad and I liked the writing style of the author enough to check out more of her books and hope for less creepy elements next time.
I enjoyed this hot quickie read and it seemed headed for a 5-star rating, but like my GR friends Auntee, MelissaB, and Rossy all mentioned in their great reviews, there were a few annoying things that made me lower my rating a bit.
I love dirty talk, but the H/H calling each other "Daddy" and "little girl" during the love scenes was more disturbing than sexy and slightly Chester Molester creepy. And it definitely wasn't Brad Pitt "Who's your daddy?" hot like in Mr. & Mrs. Smith!
I didn't like Dev's deception and manipulation regarding his sperm donation or the "test" he arranged because of his insecurity and mistrust of Chloe. But what really annoyed me and solidified dropping my rating was Chloe's response because in my opinion, what she did still constituted cheating, even if Dev was wrong to set it in motion.
But even though Dev and Chloe irked me at times, it's still a funny, sexy story with smokin' hot love scenes, and I liked the author's writing. 4 stars.

Pretty good story, though it could have been better if the H & H weren't so weird about relationships. The hero's test alone made me take a star off, but overall the book was worth the time.
Um nope, just no! If there is something I can't stand then that's cheating. The book was going fine, in the 3 stars kind of fine but then in the last few pages everything became fu**ed up. As in the hero sends his friend to try the heroine, as in to see if she sleeps with another man, then the stupid heroine is hot because she hasn't had s*x in the last couple of days and she lets the friend pleasure her while she is thinking about the hero. Oh and the friend is actually voicing her fantasy about the hero. We also need to have in mind that she is hugely pregnant with the hero. Umm yeah this is like so effing fu**ed up , I mean why would you ruin a book like that? Now I ended up hating the hero for sending his friend to try her loyalty, even though I could've forgave that, because he was insecure, maybe the book would've kept it's 3 stars if the heroine wasn't such a s..t. Don't get me wrong I am hands down in for having a good time like one night stands and relationships based solely on physical action, but man I hate cheating. If you know you can't help but cheat then don't engage yourself in serious relationships. And yes even if the hero left, she was still married so what she did was big no-no. * after I read how she let herself be pleasuref by his friend ( his effing friend, man, even worse) I knew that there was no way in inferno to actually finish this super wrong story.
His hand dusted up and down her arms. He took her hand and made one finger dusted across her lip. The word dusted is used way too much and I think the author means ghost. Ie-A light touch ghosting up and down the arms. Plus all of the Ms. Chloe, Dr. Rick and "Daddy". I can't think of another book I've read where the hero wanted the heroine to call him Daddy. Now, 2 in one week. I liked the premise but it fell short. Even for a Quickie.
Does anyone know of a book with a similar premise? A sperm bank mix up leading to love?
All in All Dev banked sperm at a sperm bank. Chole picked sperm that belong to an artist, but found out they had given her the WRONG sperm.... They gave her Dev sperm and now he wants to marry her and have crazy sex till the baby is born then get a divorce ?!?!?! WTF right.
Well to find out Dev hacked into the sperm banks computer and switched Chloes order to his sperm ( he hijacked her womb LOL) Well all in all they fall in love and live happily ever after having great sex :)
One MAJOR downfall for me in the book was that Dev kept saying things like "Does Daddy's girl want to come" and "Daddy has a big surprise in his pants for you" YUCK I just do not like the whole call me Daddy thing :(
Meh. It's a short story - i love shortys ... but it isn't outstanding or memorable in anyway. Read it if the plot interests you, but it might not be worth going out of your way to get and it probably won't end up on your favourites list.
The book could have been a lot better if some parts were not so exaggerated and accelerated. That situation with Rick was just too much for a short story, it has taken over the book, and it is the most memorable thing I remember from it, which is weird considering the book is about the pregnancy.
This was almost a 4 star. Here is why I rated it as I did What I liked
1) like able heroine, although not sure I think she uses the best judgement 2) sexy alpha hero but he is not as honorable as I want in a hero 3) kudos for writing sexy scenes with a 7 month pregnant woman. Did this in a very believable way 4) several very powerful sexy scenes.
What I did not like
1). Several actions by hero not honorable and given his line of work seemed off. If he really cared for her doing the last act with his friend seemed off. 2) protective gay brother seemed gimmicky 3) needed more conflict or drama to really pull you into the story.
Will probably read further stories in this series and really like her sci fi series as long as she stays away from jabbing at current politics
I like this writer a lot and love her sense of humour. I think she writes great laugh-out-loud dialogue. Therefore I'm sad to say that a couple of things in this story really turned me off.
Like a lot of other people I found the Daddy and little girl stuff a bit gross. I actually like a well placed 'Daddy' in other stories but this didn't work for me in this book at all.
My biggest gripe was the whole set-her-up-and-see-if-she-cheats thing. I can understand the honey trap scenario given his past, but what really baffled me was Chloe's actions with Rick. If that's not cheating then I'm obviously holding my husband to very high and unreasonable expectations. I must have missed the memo explaining that only actual penetration is cheating. Who knew..
Auntee and MelissaB perfectly summed up my analysis/review of this book. Despite some of the oddities(causing my review to go from 5 stars to 4), I truly enjoyed the book.
The 2nd half was weaker than the first. There was so much potential, but it was not realized. Someone could make a movie out of it, but would have to improve the 2nd half of the story.
STILL- it's short but sweet read, and I may even re-read it sometime!
Surprisingly enjoyable with a few unexpected surprises and a dunderhead male who finally sees the light. Very sexy and interesting story. That said, I have to say that for me at least, there is nothing like the pet names 'Daddy' and 'Little Girl' to illicit a sense of nausea that takes the sexiness of a love scene down a few notches. Maybe it does it for other people but not for me.
I absolutely loved this book! I know a lot of other people complained about it but I actually loved the fact that Dev called himself Daddy to Chloe during they're lovemaking...I guess I'm just kinky like that!
I read Chloe's Donor a while ago so my rating may not be as accurate as it could be. But, I do remembering being pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed reading this book. I think I would have to give this story 3.5 stars.
Chloe's sperm donor was supposed to be anonymous; but here he was laying claim to the child and insisting on marriage. For Dev it was lust at first sight and despite the extremely hot sex; they both must overcome trust and self-esteem issues in order to make a lifelong commitment together.
This book could have been soooo good. I loved the premise of the story!! Up until 80% I even thought it would make it to the regular reread section. But then the other guy came in. I still don’t know why! That just ruined the book for me.

I liked this story and would have given it more stars EXCEPT for the "daddy" reference and Dev's test of Chloe. That test was not cool and I wanted him to grovel more.
