He can’t live without her. She can’t live without his help… or his love.

The son and stepdaughter of rival drug dealers, Chase Halloway and Allie Boden know the odds are stacked against them, but love doesn't care about odds.

Love only wants to find a way.

Chase Halloway knows he'll take over his father's empire when old Galt Halloway's done, but he has dreams. Plans that have nothing to do with the drug ring his father's so carefully built since Chase's mom died years ago.

Untamed and unmoored, when he sees Allie for the first time, love at first sight means maybe the future doesn't have to be so lonely...

Protected by Chase during a blow-out brawl in her stepfather's bar, Allie can't believe the tattooed, muscled man who has eyes only for her really wants her...forever.

With a past marred by her mother's death and a stepfather who won't let her leave for sinister reasons she doesn't understand, she wants to choose Chase and her own fate.

Drawn together by an attraction so strong they can't find words for it, and unable to resist a physical temptation so strong they can't deny it, can Chase and Allie's love survive kidnapping, murder, false accusations and more?

The Breaking Away Series Boxed Set contains the entire romantic suspense trilogy: Finding Allie, Chasing Allie, Keeping Allie. Each is a full-length novel, and by the end of book three Chase and Allie get the happily ever after they so richly deserve.

Finding Allie (Breaking Away, #1)
This is the first book of Meli and my god what a story, I couldn't stop reading. I can't wait to start the next book but first this review.

Allie a young innocent girl who has not an easy live being alone with her stepfather after her mother was killed two years ago. The only thing now is working in her stepfathers bar to raise money so she can go to her sister in LA. I even suspect that he killed my mother.
After a drug dealing motercycle gang comes in the bar all hell brakes lose and then she finds out that her stepfathers turns out to be a rival drugdealer.

Chase can't believe his eyes when the cross with Allie, who is she and why can't I forget her? The only thing I want is too hold and to love her. But is this going to work out with my father who's the president of Atlas.

Can they start their adventure together or are they doomed before their love begins?

Chasing Allie (Breaking Away, #2)
OMG what a second story I want the last part now!!!! What a cliffhanger !!!!

Not only is my stepfather a drug dealer he has some plans for me, selling my virginity to a Mexican drug lord. Chase wants to bring me to LA to see my sister maybe then I'm safe and we can start living our dreams at the ocean.

After a great night of hope and dreams, I wake up alone where's Chase? And then I receive a call from the Police someone has killed my stepfather and I'm the prime suspect. They only thing I think about is where is Chase.

After getting hit on the head I wake up naked and bound. Who did this and why? I hear some footsteps but nothing had me prepaired for who is standing before me. Chase what's going on??

Keeping Allie (Breaking Away, #3)
I was glad this morning when I found the third book of the series in my mailbox. Because I couldn't wait to read after the cliffhanger from yesterday, I can tell you it didn't disappointed me.

Not all is what it seems is Chase one of the bad guys? And is Allie going crazy because is that really her mother standing over here? Lots of new people come in this story like Chases brother Mark can he save Allie in time?

Okay you know already that they will survive their love but it's going to get ugly first. I recommend this series to everyone who loves a good love story with some dangerous streaks in it.

I couldn’t get past the third chapter...who actually thinks like that? And this is only the first 30 pages. Sorry! I really wish I’d like it

“I look away even as I wish he would watch me forever.
Chase. I want to say his name aloud simply to hear it on my tongue. To feel it roll over my lips. If I say his name then he’s really here, he really shook my hand, and he really is looking at me like he wants to.
Like he needs to.”

This is a modern day Romeo and Juliet. Allie and Chase appear to be from different worlds but appearances can be deceptive. The first time these two meet in Allie's stepfather's bar the atmostphere is electric. The two of them cannot stay away from each other and a good friend helps them see each other. Everyone is telling Chase he can't have Allie but no one is giving a reason why. Trying to escape from her stepfather, Allie falls of her bike and is rescued by Chase. He takes her to his secret place, and the two become closer. When Chase's father comes to find Chase and Allie, he tells them that they cannot be together because Allie is already taken.

After Allie is brought back to her stepfather, Chase discovers the real reason she is not allowed to date is that she has been promised to a drug lord and in return her stepfather's debt will be paid. The condition is that Allie must be a virgin but the drug lord is known to be rough and abusive. So Chase comes and rescues her and drives her to her sister in LA. They spend a wonderful night together, still not consumating the relationship, but when Allie awakens, Chase has gone. The phone rings with the news of her stepfather's death so Allie and her sister head home. Allie gets kidnapped and removed from her home. When she comes to, she finds she is naked, bound, gagged and looking into the eyes of Chase.

The pain is intense, not only is Allie tortured physically, but emotionally as well when she sees that Chase is one of her captors. But all is not as it seems as Chase tries to help her escape. With the help of her mother (who she thought was dead) and Chase's half brother, they come up with a plan and Allie escapes, but Chase is left behind. After a long and difficult recovery, Allie goes to LA to be back with her sister and starts work as a waitress. While working, Allie sees an article on the tv about a stunt rider who dies in a crash, and just like that her work collapses as she discovers it's Chase. Chase had to fake his death to get away from his father and comes to find Allie and win her back. This book is wonderfully written and makes you want to keep reading from the first page.

Finding Allie
I'm really liking this twist on the Romeo and Juliet tale. It's pretty obvious that the children of rival drug dealers aren't going to be allowed to fall in love with each other, but in spite of that the chemistry between Chase and Allie is unstoppable. I'm not sure if Allie's really naive or if she's been unconsciously hiding from the truth. And Chase is a little rough around the edges but so amazingly gentle with Allie. They'll be perfect together once they can get past both fathers.

Coming back to this now that I know some of what's to come has made me love this book even more. I know what I've read, now I'm anxious to discover what I've missed.
Chasing Allie
I’m actually kind of glad I’ve read ahead, and that I’m familiar with the other works of the author behind this alter ego. I would have missed so many inside jokes otherwise. And for as heavy as this book gets by the end, I was grateful for that additional levity. I’m a bit perplexed by the need for this book in the series. I understand that there’s some important stuff that happens in this book to set the stage for what’s to come. But there’s also a lot of this book that didn’t feel necessary. I loved the opportunity to watch Allie and Chase get closer. And to see what the relationship with her sister was really like. But for what’s contained in this particular book, I don’t know if we needed all of it. I’m hoping this background information will make more sense in context with one of the next books.
Keeping Allie
Even though I’ve read books from further forward in this world and thought I knew what was coming, I wasn’t at all prepared to deal with what truly happens in this book. This story takes us spinning through dark places to happy reunions and everything in between. Allie and Chase go through a lot in this book. I can’t completely reconcile some of Chase’s words and actions in the situation, but I can understand just how outside of normal the situation is and why those actions may not altogether ring true. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books I’ve missed from this author.

Lies, murder and mistrust all combine to make this a compelling series.  This boxset comprises of : Finding Allie, Chasing Allie & Keeping Allie.

This is the first romantic suspense series by Meli Raine - (aka Julia Kent) and is as well written and engaging as her other books.

Allie is a sweet girl who has had a tough life.  Being left in the care of her controlling stepfather, she saves every penny she can to escape his clutches, and although he has never cared for her he is oddly protective of keeping her innocence.  Chase is the tough bad-boy biker, but is he as bad as he appears?  There are definitely times throughout this book that I wanted to slap him, in fact Allie does at one point. I didn't want to believe what I was reading and the emotions I felt on behalf of Allie shows the signs of a good author who can get under your skin with their characters.

There are some very romantic moments, and by this I mean hot, steamy intimate scenes.  There are also elements of  physical and emotional abuse. Although these are limited in their graphic descriptions, there are enough details after the events to imagine the pain and suffering caused to Allie.

With lies, secrets and surprises this series kept me gripped in the lives of the characters.  A must read for anyone who enjoys romantic suspense.

This is a modern day Romeo and Juliet and I am a sucker for Shakespeare so I was definitely intrigued. Chase’s dad and Allie’s stepdad are rival drug dealers and they are thrown together during a bar fight. Chase’s protective instincts kick in straight away and Allie is captivated by the biker with a soft heart.

I am telling you literally nothing about the plot on this one as this is in true Meli fashion, a book chocked full of actions and wait….what moments. There are secrets by the truckload and a couple of side swiping plot twists. Seriously, I did not see them coming at all. I love a good plot twist and these were mammoth!

This is not a book full of steam, there are touches of it sprinkled here and there but it is the action and plot that will keep you hooked. Tanya narrates all three books as the whole series is from Allie’s POV and I appreciated her variety of voices and change in pace. A great introduction to Meli’s work.

This series wasn't as strong or suspenseful as some of Meli Raine's other series. I enjoyed the intertwined characters from the other series (Mark Paulson, Galt, El Bruho) with more explanation int their dynamic story. I've listened to the other series out of order so knowing that Allie and Chase appear living on the beach is a nice knowing conclusion.

The insta-attraction to one another seemed a bit rushed with a twist making you question everything for a while. I found myself looking at the book description several hours in to reassure myself that I wasn't routing for the wrong people. Allie wasn't the strongest female emotional character compared to others by Meli Raine.

I tend to veer towards dual POV's but this one from Allie's POV kept the suspense going and less "if you only knew" feelings that would have come from knowing what else was going on.

Tanya Eby is a strong narrator who does a good job. While I would have enjoyed a more masculine voice for Chase, it still worked.

I'd recommend this series but strongly suggest reading all the different series in order.

Awesome Read

Meli Rains, is a writing genius. I never dreamed I would read a suspense novel and it hold my interest. But the Breaking Away Series, Allies story did just that. From the beginning the grabbed hold, and didn't let go until the last word. Allies went through a shell of an ordeal. Losing her mother, two years ago, her sister moving to L.A., and having to live with her step father and work for pennies in his bar. She saved for those two years to move to L.A. to live with Marissa, her sister. One night while cleaning the bar, someone comes in, it's Chase, a biker from Atlas, a motorcycle gang that sells and transports drugs, to see, Jeff, Allies step dad. A fight breaks out, Chase rescues, Allies and from that Pont on, he continues to rescue her all the way up to the end. Allies and Chase fall in love and live happily ever after.

The Breaking Away Series Boxed Set by Meli Raine: 3.5 stars
Chase/Allie. Likable and interesting characters with an intense connection, lots of surprises and a fast pace. The storyline kept me reading but had holes that I couldn’t get past. For instance — (spoilers) why didn’t Chase take Allie and run, getting Mark’s help from the beginning?.. Why were both MC’s on site when Allie was a prisoner, why did Gault not seem to recognize the significance of mother/daughter?? Etc…

Ms. Raine writes intense dark romance books. This boxed set has intrigue, angst, deception and surprising twists and turns. Allie and Chase connect intensely but then circumstances pull them apart. Fate tearing their worlds inside out. This series is narrated by Tanya Eby. I highly recommend this series.

Chase and Allie

Bittersweet, tragic, destiny all are words that nearly describe this amazing story of two star crossed lovers. I couldn't help think of Romeo and Juliet - only in this case - Chase and Allie survive and thrive and love.

Had I not get this in a box set, I don't think I would have finished the series, the first book was VERY slow and hard to get through. However, by the end of the third book, it picked up.

Action Romance

All Allie wants to do is move to California with her sister, but her stepfather has other plans. When she meets Chase, her feelings for him throws a kink in those plans. And when the unexpected happens, Allie needs Chase more than ever. Through twists and more turns, All of what Allie knows is flipped upside down.

I enjoyed this entire trilogy. It was funny and sexy, but loaded with suspense and action.

I have read these books as individual reads, now that the box set is available I thought I would post my review here as well.

Finding Allie
This was a good start to the Breaking Away Series By Meli Raine. Chase is the son of Galt The President of Atlas Motorcycle Club, he knows that his father and other club members do bad things and Chase really doesn't want to be a part of it but his father is training him to become the VP of the club. Allie lives with her stepfather Jeff and works in his bar, Allie doesn't get paid but she does make tips and she's hiding them so she can move to LA to be with her sister that moved there a few years earlier. Allie has no one, her mother died two years ago and she thinks her stepfather may have killed her, her best friend is leaving for college in a few weeks and then she will be totally alone. Until she meets Chase, it's instant chemistry between the two of them, Chase makes it his business to protect her when all hell breaks out in the bar, from that point on they desperately want to be together but both fathers (father/stepfather) are against it. Besides her stepfather has other plans for her so he needs to make sure Chase doesn't damage the goods......
Sounds very ominous doesn't it, well I'll tell you a secret, Poor Allie doesn't know any of this and although she doesn't like her stepfather much she NEVER thought he would do something like this.....

Chasing Allie
This picks up right where Finding Allie left off.
I can't say much about this book without giving away some big spoilers but I will say it was a roller coaster ride that I was glad I took even though we are left with one heck of a cliff hanger!
Some minor spoilers:
*Allie see the ocean
*Allie meets her sister's roommate and he is one interesting guy!
*A phone call from the police that Allie will never forget
*Allie and Chase make some memories in LA

Keeping Allie
Allie is kidnapped by the Atlas Motorcycle Club to hand over to El Brujo, she is the virgin that he thinks can cure him of a terrible disease.
So many strange things happened in this book which ties up all the loose ends, I can't tell you what happens without spoiling it so I will just say this book ended the series in a way that I was happy with.
I look forward to getting to know more of Mark (Chases's brother) in Return the first book of the coming home series

Loved this books. Kept me in a rollercoaster of emotions with the protagonists.
Finding Allie
In the first book of the series Allie had lost her mom in a strange accident and has been living with her stepfather since then. She was working at her stepfather bar and he treated her as if she belonged to him. Then, Chase came to the bar and they looked at each other. Both felt the spark. He wanted Allie and she felt safe with him. Chase was a member of a motorcycle club and a drug dealer’s son but also was Allie. Her stepfather was the biggest drug dealer of the southwest and he has plans for Allie. This first book was well paced, easy reading and interesting. Allie and Chase has a good chemistry and both of their characters are interesting with a clear narrative. Under the circumstances their attraction feels wright and the development of this first book makes you want to know more. Good start for the author. Left me eager for more. I like good young’s love stories.
In Chasing Allie (Breaking Away#2) Allie knew what was going to happen to her with the deal with the Mexican drug lord. It was two years ago when Allie’s mother died and that made Allie think. After confronting Jeff, her stepfather, she ran away to Los Angeles with Chase. In this second book we met Marissa, Allie’s sister and Allie was feeling safe with her but that did not last long. Things were weird and Allie and Marissa had to come back to the town. Too many emotions in here. I can’t believe the rollercoaster that was Allie’s life. And Chase, what I can say? It was a surprise. The cliffhanger let me screaming. This books are very compelling. Liked them a lot.
Keeping Allie
Allie was living her worst nightmare. The terror continued. How was possible that Chase did that? She was abused and tortured and Chase let them do it. But not everything was what it seemed and Allie knew she had to endure the situation if she wanted to survive or maybe she did not want to? And then, new surprises for Allie that made her change her mind. There was Jackie and Mark trying to help her. And Jackie was saying she will make her old man protect Allie against El Brujo? This third part was so intense and emotive that sometimes I found my eyes wet. Allie suffered so much that I get the shivers just thinking about it. Then, the plot development turned into a string of events that made me clap and I was cheering at the end. At last Allie and Chase had their HEA. This was a really good story complete with treachery, intrigue, kidnapping, murder, abuse, rescue, passion, healing, love, sex and hope. It lacks nothing. Suffered and enjoyed a lot with this story.

FINDING ALLIE: PART 1
Man from the start it pulls you in and keeps you on the edge of you seat the whole time. Couldn't put it down it has so much happening so fast you couldn't stop reading. Unconventional love story but well worth reading. Young naivety of Allie who never knew what was going on around her to bad boy Chase walks in and her world changes. Not much on giving spoilers but this book is worth the read. Love it!!!!

CHASING ALLIE: PART 2
Well after reading first book couldn't wait to gt into this one, and it started out so great with Chase being the great knight in shining armour and really thought man this just can't get better. Then him leaving her, her not knowing where he was, the anticipation of what was going on. Then everything went left and it was like "HUH"? I was so confused by the end of the book I just cant wait to get the third one to see how it all ends. Very action packed and very worth the read.

KEEPING ALLIE: PART 3
So, just when Allie thinks everything is gonna be ok because she thinks Chase is with her, but when she wakes up he's gone, not answering his phone and she becomes worried that his father has sent some men to get him and maybe even worse. So her sister gets her room mate to drive them back home and they decide to go thru the house and start packing everything up. During the process they find money and more money they can't believe their step dad had hidden it away. Allie's sister decides to go to the store to buy cigarettes and leaves Allie to make them something to eat. Allie hears a noise thinking it's her sister and then everything goes black, and when she wakes up she is tied to a chair, naked and hurting really bad. She's know's she is in the gang's quarter she recognizes the voices and faces, but she thinks that everything will be ok cause she believe's Chase will save her, until she hears his voice and the bottom falls out, now she know's she doomed.
They reason that they have taken her, is her step dad basically agreed to give her over to the Mexican Cartel leader when she turned 18, because she was a virgin, and the Cartel leader is ill and thinks if he can find the right pure virgin that he will be healed, So the Atlas club to keep peace with the Cartel, want to give her over to erase a debt that is owed, thinking it will save all their lives. Little does everyone know, but the Cartel is not the one they need to worry about, thanks to Chase & some phone calls he made after he left Allie, they have a lot more trouble coming than they know. The series has a wonderful ending that is truly great and I hope you will grab a copy to see how it all ends.

Finding Allie is beautifully raw, achingly real, and stunningly heartfelt story of two broken people who are longing for a deeper connection that will allow them to spread their wings and fly. I was completely captivated by this incredible journey, and I found that my heart is no longer my own. What a wonderfully exciting start to a promisingly brilliant journey of hope, love, and determination!

Allie can't wait to escape the live that she has been forced to stay trapped in. While her sister was able to walk away and begin living her dreams, Allie is held captive into a life that she never wanted. She longs to leave her current existence in favor of running after her dreams. Just as those wishes make their way from her heart to her head, in walks a man who will turn her entire world upside down and right side up. He is everything she shouldn't want, but she knows that he is exactly what she needs and wants. Chase isn't looking for a love that breathes life into him and gives him a driving determination that he has been looking for when he walks into a bar for a refreshing drink, but that's exactly what he gets. Allie not only takes him my surprise, but shows him exactly what he has been wanting for a very long time - unconditional acceptance, untainted love, and refreshing challenge. He protects her from a fight that breaks out and in the process finds out that he wants to protect her forever. Will he lose the one ray of sunshine in his life, or will he fight for his heart and his future?

Allie and Chase stole my heart, and I don’t want it back. They are from similar yet different worlds, and they are drawn to each other in a way that neither can explain nor want to fight. The more they get to know the other, they discover that they complement the other and cannot stop the intense pull to be together. Allie finds the missing piece to her heart, and Chase understands that Allie completes him in a way that he can’t explain and will not live without. Two characters that develop so exquisitely and pull at my heart like these two have are such a wonderful pleasure to read about. I can’t wait to read more of their deeply passionate and deceptively dangerous journey.

Meli Raine’s debut series is simply outstanding! I love the danger, the intrigue, the passion, and the feeling of something that seems so very real. This feels more like someone’s honest life story instead of just a made up work of fiction. Within this story I have found a rare honesty and a breathless love that has gripped my heart and will not let go.
