Judy Russell Christenberry was born in Dallas, Texas, USA, where she raised in a family of four children with a stay-at-home mom who was a terrific cook and an excellent teacher, where family tradition was concerned. As a child, Judy was surrounded by animals. Her father raised a few head of cattle to keep meat on the table. At one time or another, there were sheep, Thanksgiving turkeys, ducks and dogs, and there were always chickens.

Judy learned the importance of family at an early age. But, Judith's marriage ended in divorce. Yet, with support from her mother and siblings, she and her two daughters discovered their own definition of family. The family comes in all shapes and flavors. What's important isn't the two parents and the 2.5 children, it's love and support. She raised her children, taught during the day, wrote at night, and pursued her dream.

Judy, hasn't always been a writer, but she's always been a dreamer. As a child, for entertainment while doing chores, she told herself stories-she was always the heroine. However, she didn't start writing until she turned thirty-eight, just one year after her father's unexpected death. After this, she realized life promised no guarantees about how much time you have. Why wait to pursue your dreams? She had begun reading Harlequin Romance novels about ten years earlier, so romance writing came naturally. She signs her novels as Judy Christenberry, Judith Christenberry and Judith Stafford.

Over time, Judy realized two central themes dominating her writing: family and small town/country life. Many of her books have cowboy heroes, partly because she read all Zane Grey's romantic versions of the Old West as a teenager, and partly because her parents grew up on farms. The last element that frequently appears in Judy's stories is a dash of humor, just enough to bring a smile to your face. She believes laughter is good medicine and it definitely makes a six-foot hunk even more attractive!

Now, with her daughters pursuing their own dreams, Judy writes full-time and is wrapped up in her storytelling. She lives each new adventure with the vigor of a young girl, still dreaming up tales while washing dishes. She hopes to entertain her readers as much as she entertains herself!

Liza Colton has a career as a singer. Her mother is her manager and is overbearing.

Liza goes to a local doctor in Saratoga Springs because her voice is going. He prescribes food and rest. Lots of rest. Nick becomes involved in Liza's life and helps her out by hiding her at his house after a man came into the hospital and threatened her. Slowly, she trusts Nick with the secret that she has been in contact with her cousin, Emily, who was the initial target of the murder and is believed to have been kidnapped but is hiding out from the family as Emily (and Liza) believe Meredith is behind the attempted murder.

Patsy as Meredith has no plans of being left as a pauper and wants her husband dead so as to inherit. She also plans on killing Emily, and Liza if need be. She wants to find her identical twin - so that she can get rid of her as a threat.

There was not much about Louise Meredith in this book (that I remember). But the police were filled in on Liza's suspicions, especially as the man kept hounding her - until he was killed when being chased by police.

Nick and Liza develop feelings towards each other, but Liza believes she is incapable of having children and Nick has dreams of a large family. Liza is found by reporters, and leaves for her apartment, then stays in hotels under assumed names.

Nick's ex-wife, Daphne, tells him that he has a child - but Nick is highly suspicious. His suspicions are confirmed - he is not the child's father. But it is too late to inform Liza of this fact, as she has read the papers and believes it...... so their reunion when Nick starts his vacation to look for her and she is in Saratoga Springs is not the stereotypical reunion. Instead, they profess their love for each other later, and THEN Liza tells him that she is pregnant and the complications her body has.

They plan to elope and inform people of their marriage afterwards.

Dr Hathaway
I really liked this book, It was a fun quick read. I liked all the characters. Liza Colton is a singer on tour when her voice gives out due to exhaustion. She has been worried about Emily who is on the run after someone tried to kill her and someone is looking for her too. Enter Dr Hathaway, he begins treating Liza and offers her a place to stay. His housekeeper Bonnie is over joyed. You have the Meredith imposter trying to kill off Emily and will kill Liza if she is in the way.
