About the author

Dr Ian MacDougall, is the research worker of the Scottish Working People's History Trust (SWPHT). He is the author of numerous works on social history including All Men are Brethren and Voices of Work and Home. He has played a pivotal role in persuading many trade unions, co-operatives and activists to deposit or donate their papers to Scottish archives and libraries, including the National Library of Scotland. He has also compiled many oral histories of working men and women.
