while reading this story, I could feel my frustration simmering, hear my anger flaring up and sense my muscles tightening.. this was not it. I must say it was very predictable, at least that was the impression I got. I was actually hoping for a big twist and an entirely new storyline in the end, like a false sense of predictableness!!!! my bad too. with all the disappointment, I have to say it was the complete opposite, like literally the average crime motif/plot!!!! no jokes, I have seen this motif more times than I can count an reading it in french didn’t make it more interesting!!!!!!
not to even mention the awful details. like the stereotype about burly men, for example.
I also want to add what I found truly extravagant. I could live with the fact that it was mentioned that every serial killer makes their murders significant, but claiming that in this story it would be the address of the murder suspect is a bit too much. nót every serial killer leaves their address or hands over their location for the taking(/makes their murders significant) and if they do, they might as well walk to the police station themselves bruh.
now that I'm at it, I might as well throw in a positive point !! the book wasn't exactly my cup of tea (and I say this as an absolute true crime fan!!), but i thought it was well chosen (by my school) in terms of difficulty level. it read quickly, with short chapters, extra drawings and difficult words explained!!!, an ideal book for a non-native french speaker so!!
I would basically recommend this to anyone learning french but not to frequent readers or people looking for good literature.
