The Herbal Body Book” is informative on a basic level. It is focused more toward the amateur herbalists and not particularly beneficial for seasoned users. Some things discussed in this book’s beginning are quite common sense tips everyone is aware of, such as, benefits of exercise and daily water intake.

If you are just starting out this is worth the quick read in order to become acquainted with various herbs, their various uses, how to dry them and store them. If you are a mature hand at drying, preserving your herbs and making your own beauty aids, you might still wish to check out the recipe section. Simply keep in mind you may know a lot of them already or have your own twist on the basic version you like better.

The Herbal Body Book” does contain simple recipes that are easily made; generally with household stock or things acquired from your grocer with the exception naturally of the herbs themselves. Some recipes include, but are not limited to:

• Facial and body scrubs
• Facial Steams
• Body baths
• Lip balm

Easy, affordable, no fuss recipes you can make at home. With natural, healthy ingredients good for your body and simple to find online or at your local health store, what's not to love? These recipes are also good for the earth, so there's an added bonus and the book is printed on recycled paper, which I always like. The recipes are easily adaptable to a variety of skin types or if you're vegan and the scents are also customizable, so you're not stuck with something too sweet that you might not like. The directions are easy to follow. Anyone could whip up a bath oil or mouthwash in no time. I'd like to read a few other books in this series for more ideas.

This book is excellent if you are trying your hand at experimenting with herbs and want to make your own soap. I won't exactly say that making your own soap is the cheaper way to go but, it can be a satisfying hobby and this book can get you started - successfully.
