I wasn't supposed to take the shortcut. I was told never to step foot in the Winter Realm of the Unseelie Fae King.
But...
I didn't listen. I rarely do. But what I found in the bitter cold wasn't just the ice and snow. I found a Fae King who is so much more monster than royalty.
And now I'm running through the frigid woods chased by the frozen monarch in a twilight that never ends.
Stranger still, I'm not sure I want to escape.
A Solstice Sin is a dark, monster romance with adult themes and language. It may not be suitable for all readers.
Lover of dark, decadent, and deadly romances, RE Johnson has been a passionate storyteller and fantasy fan since they were in elementary school. In fact, they wrote their first novel in fifth grade.
Now, they use their Creative Writing degree to create stories that profess love, respect, and triumph over evil and contain strong female characters who are always ready to throw down – both in and out of the bedroom.
Currently, they reside in Las Vegas, Nevada, where they spend their free time playing Dungeons and Dragons, wrangling their two rambunctious children, and reading all the smut, fantasy, sci-fi, and mythology they can get their hands on.
This book was not what I had expected from the cover. It was better than I had imagined. The story these two go on is just so sweet and very spicy. It was a short read and I read it in like maybe an hour. But I loved it! There is slave/slavery topics, witches, elemental magic, realms, and monsters with a special 'eggplant'. You wont regret reading this book if you love monster romance! do it! I am so honored to have gotten an Arc copy of this book for an honest review.
This book was poetic and sinful. I love that Wren has a sassy side to her. The Winter Fae King Fierion was not nice or sweet one bit but he was the perfect kind for Man you would want. I felt that Fierion and Wren both hard a hard time not just Wren.
This was a great, short read for winter. The world building was excellent. I love a good fated-mate trope, especially when you feel the passion for one another coming off the page (which this had in abundance). RE Johnson does such a great job of hooking you in from the first page and keeping you interested until the very last page.
Loved reading this little juicy story! Highly recommend for a 'one-handed read' if you will! Johnson is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to read more from them! 😁
If you’re looking for a quick (maybe two hour) read that’s winter solstice centered, look no further. This novella has witches, fae, fated mates, and the MMC even has 2, you read that right TWO, eggplants!
This was a fun winter read! Very steamy, fated mates, insta-love vibe; but with that particular violent streak which the author brings out so well in her characters. (ARC review)
Thank you for arc read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. Oh I just loved the warning rhyme! When the barriers falls Fierion and his winter kin track and hunt those that trespass in to his domain. None are likely or lucky enough to make it out the same that they entered his forest. Getting to the mountains circle to be relieved from a cruel twist of fate, Wren treats through the forest. It's a tiny woman with a dismissive attitude that wrecks the most havoc on the mighty winter king, but will she make out out of the woods the same way as she entered? Whether never knowing or long forgotten in her haste the warning signs of old.
this a spicy short read that leaves you wanting more. I love how wren wasn't scared but determine to get to the circle. and was able to what she need to.
Trigger warning Master/slave Abuse Murder DP, degradation Group activities
Short story of a mistreated witch, Wren, who accidentally walked into the forbidden forest and changed her life. Fierion, the king, is trapped in the Winter Realm, only allowed to cross during the solstice. During those 2 days, he leads his warriors to hunt the humans stupid enough to travel through the woods. There is a literal rhyme about staying out of the woods, but humans aren't always smart. Some twist of fate has Wren cross the barrier where she meets Fierion. He decides instead of eating her, he's going to mate her and take her home with him. But then he sees her bruises. How much magic does this tiny witch have? What hold does she have over him?
Be prepared to start out mildly confused but it'll make sense if you finish the book. The descriptions given of the king... you don't need an imagination to figure out what he looks like. He's literally double blessed. Quick read, adult only content. Another good book by RE!
I received this as an ARC and I wasn't 100% sure what to expect going into it, but once again RE Johnson has absolutely crushed it!
This story had a great balance of violence, spice like nobody's business, and magic, along with a strong FMC. It went by too quickly and I wouldn't be upset if there was more to be told about the Winter Kings realm!
Amazing read with everything I love and more. 10/10 would recommend.
🔥Fated mates 🔥Badass characters 🔥Great worldbuilding and magic system 🔥Who did this to you? 🔥Revenge 🔥Spice and everything nice
This is a fun little monster romance novella that will lift your spirits. I was sweapt away from start to finish. Not wanting to put the book down for anything.
Wren is a witch forced to live a life of servitude and ready to get rid of her abusive 'master' Lord Trumain. On her way to enhance her powers on winter solstice she stumbled across the border of the Winter kingdom.
His kingdom.
What happens when a witch comes across the path of the hungry fae warrior, the Winter King? Read to find out!
This was such a short very spicy read and I absolutely demolished it!! I loved every second of this! You want a monster romance this is the book for you!! I would absolutely recommend this book!!
Very good novella!! It was very spicy and instantly just jumped right into things!! Lol. Really good short read, very enticing and fun! Loved the ending too. Go Wren!!!
My first read of 2023 and talk about starting the year off with a bang! 👀 R. E. Johnson is definitely one of my favorite authors found in 2022 and starting the new year with a short and incredibly spicy monster RH from her was the best! It was a quick read with magic, monsters, vengeance, and so much spice! 10/10 worth it!
RE Johnson's images and powerful storytelling are paramount. Her pacing is spot on. The characters are all drawing .the world building is beyond fantastic. And then there is the sex ! Wow. And it advances the plot and is integral to the plot.
I will be reading and following RE Johnson as long as she keeps writing!!!! Keep Writing
All the spicy, none of the plot, and it’s a fast read. It’s erotica with some sharing, some primal play, and it even gets a little gritty there for a second. It’s a good story to read as a storm hits the area I live in.
A Solstice Sin was a fast burn monster novella with dashes of magic. I would have loved to spend more time in this world because the little bits of information and scenery we got was interesting. The entire read felt a bit rushed which caused me to not be as invested in this couple as I would have liked but again it’s less than 60 pages. I think if the author had pushed this to be 150 pages and laid more ground work for how this kingdom is run, more time spent between the MCs where we get to know them better, and more information on the magic the FMC has then this could have been a 4-4.5 star read for me. But I’m giving it a 3. It’s worth a read if you want something hot and quick.
