A really great kids' book. When I was 11 I read the entire thing in one night. I then re-read it again and again. I actually met Kaye Umansky 13 years ago when I was 10 and she will forever be a really wonderful childhood memory.

La famiglia Stramb è davvero stramb(a). Il bimbo più piccolo, Alquanto Stramb, ad esempio, prende le cose altrui senza ritegno si sporca di erba e fango senza farci caso. Poi c'è la sorella, Molto Stramb, che veste quasi sempre con un abito ricavato da una tenda arancione e porta in testa, questo in ogni occasione, un cappello con dell'uva finta. E che dire dell'altro fratello, Oliver Stramb, l'amante dei compiti extra? Gli adulti della famiglia Stramb non sono certo meno stramb(i) dei figli: il padre è un inventore che rischia ad ogni invenzione di far saltar per aria la casa e la madre fa la controfigura di professione, si lancia nei burroni, ingaggia corpo a corpo con gli squali e altre simili amenità. Conclude la famiglia la nonna, una nana che cucina per tutti ma non mangia mai nulla. Vi sono anche degli animali di casa: un gatto nero di nome Rosa ed una Creatura Misteriosa che Ringhia e vibra colpi mostruosi.
Quando la famiglia Stramb arriva ad occupare la casa vicina a quella della famiglia Perfetti immediatamente nasce un certo qual scompiglio. Poi però, prima il figlio dei coniugi Perfetti, Pierfilippo, e quindi i genitori, per la verità la prima visita l'aveva fatta la signora Perfetti ma questa visita non aveva sortito esiti soddisfacenti, entrano in confidenza con i nuovi vicini e così ogni cosa va a posto. Le lamentele di varia natura si placano e le due famiglie socializzano. Solo un mistero resta ancora da svelare per il giovane Pierfilippo: "Cosa sarà a produrre quegli inquietanti e sinistri rumori in casa Stramb?"
La risposta, lo spero proprio, in una delle prossime avventure della famiglia Stramb!

I found the book interesting and more-ish but it was a big disappointment, because the book ended suddenly and abruptly like the author had no idea where the story was going to go. Basically the whole book in my opinion seemed like the first chapter of a longer novel, where people are introduced and that's all that really happens in this book - there is a non-existent plot.
The idea behind the story I can get, but there is no actual story here and it leaves the reader unsatisfied and baffled.

what a strange -go- nowhere read ? my daughter thought it was interesting and wants to know what the sound in the celler was all about, so we will see in the next book.
personally I didn't like it. all I kept thinking is how can you let your kids live like that !!! but I keep reminding myself that it's not real. that's way its call fiction lol

We've all really enjoyed reading this book together, a great childrens book. had to buy it on audio now for the boys!
