Rate this book
Two friends, one woman, and one deranged fan.

Former supermodel and talk show host Hailey Barnes has a knack for catching her guests off guard with difficult and personal questions. Her tough interviews have earned her a Daytime Emmy, but while her professional life is at its peak, she's not satisfied with her personal life.

Hailey wants what she can't have, and that's her ex-college sweetheart's hand in marriage. Her on again/off again relationship with Trevon keeps her name in the tabloids, and that works for her, until she receives a wedding invitation in the mail--inviting her to Trevon's wedding to another woman. He's ready to settle down, just not with Hailey.

Besides dealing with a broken heart, the ex-supermodel is dealing with a deranged fan who has resorted to sending her disturbing mail at her Hollywood studio and her home. Hailey decides to use the opportunity as a quest to convince Trevon she should be his bride.

Trevon and childhood friend Garrett Morgan are co-owners of GT Securities, a security firm that caters to celebrities. Hailey's plan backfires when Garrett heads her case instead of Trevon. When ex-playboy Garrett starts developing feelings for Hailey, Hailey's life becomes even more complicated. As Garrett investigates, all evidence points to the person Hailey least suspects.

HOLLYWOOD DECEPTION by Shelia Goss played out like a movie in my head and there was never a dull moment. Goss displayed a mixture of mystery, drama, romance, suspense and unpredictable situations. There were times I was on the edge of my seat, anxiously waiting for the next incident to occur.

Hailey is a diva with an attitude. A former supermodel and now a well-known talk show host, she is used to getting what she wants when she wants it. She's been exposed to high profile people from all angles of the spectrum. Her professional life is exceptionally great and earns her the Daytime Emmy Award, yet her personal life is not to her satisfaction. When she starts receiving anonymous packages, she isn't sure if it's a friend "hating" or a stranger. She turns to her former boyfriend and his business partner for help; doing so, she creates a tangled web she may not be able to wiggle her way out of.

If you are looking for an excellent romance novel, then I would highly recommend HOLLYWOOD DECEPTION. I recently started reading romance novel and HOLLYWOOD DECEPTION is a great one to add to your collection. Author Shelia Goss has me hooked! Great job and thanks for the excitement and creativity.

Hollywood Deception is a THRILLING addition to Ms. Goss' Women In Hollywood series...a pleasant mixture of romance and mystery...although I find some aspects of the SUDDEN romance between Hailey and Garrett to be a BIT unrealistic...being the ROMANCE JUNKIE that I am...it doesn't take me long to move pass my disbelief...LOL...and become CAUGHT UP in the DRAMA of their whirlwind romance and the SUSPENSEFUL twists and turns surrounding Hailey's stalker troubles...I also ENJOY catching up with the characters from the previous novel, Double Platinum...so, despite the typos and/or editing issues...Ms. Goss once AGAIN keeps me turning the pages with another ENTERTAINING, yet fictional glimpse into the fast-paced lifestyle of a celebrity.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I thought the pacing, the characters, the plot were all in sync, which made for the kind of book that is a pleasure to have by your bedside to pick up, read and enjoy until that last sentence. To be honest, I didn't realize that the main character, Haley, had gotten under my skin and into my need-to-know-what-happens-next so much, until I decided to bypass a girl's night out so that I could instead stay home and finish Hollywood Deception.

Now in book two (spin-off or saga), we find out about Parris and Casper's friend, Hailey Barnes, and boy this book is so much better than "Double Platinum," where I didn't even connect the dots that this was a sequel from the first book and based on the friend's story vs. Parris.

I loved the love triangle among colleagues and business partner, then who really did the stalking and sending the message, even candy with flowers where they were planted as a deadly weapon.

This book started off pretty decent. As it went on, it started getting very annoying. Towards the end, I felt like I wanted to stab my eyes out. I had to force myself to finish it.

The research was well done and the setting and the unfolding of plot went on well. I couldn't really empathise with the characters though and there were quite a few grammatical errors.
