Craig Cravens is a lecturer in the Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies in The University of Texas at Austin. He has been teaching Czech language and culture there for over 10 years, where he holds the position of Senior Lecturer and Founder of the North American Cimrman Association.

In 2006 he published the widely ignored The Culture and Customs of the Czech Republic. The Austrian Cimrmanologist Dr. Erich Fiedler has described it as a “vade mecum for all those tourists swarming the Charles Bridge and Prague brothels.”

Craig has a PhD in Slavic languages and literature from Princeton University (1998) and a BA from Amherst College in Russian literature (1992).
