A wonderful and informative book dealing with the mysterious appearance of Rudolf Hess on essentially enemy soil supposedly on a peace mission with what he was led to believe a group of heads of state and people he thought could help to change the course of the war.
But the burning question is what led him to leave Germany and the side of his beloved "fuhrer" at critical points of Hitler's campaign including his then rumoured Barbarossa scheme.
Did he have Hitler's backing on this mission or was he working on his own? Did he have help in Britain or was he lured here to be a political pawn and dupe?
These are some of the questions examined in what is described as the "most bizarre and inexplicable episode of the Second World War.
Told with a great wealth or well researched detail this is a must for history buffs and those who wish to know more about the behind the scenes details of a crucial part of our history.
Thoroughly enjoyable and informative this book is written in such a way that it is quite easily understood whatever your level of War history.
Definitely worth reading.
