The city of Serenstad has never been stronger, and superstitions are waning in the light of reason and civilization. For the Guild of Dream Finders this has proved disastrous, until Duke Ibris, troubled by mystifying and unsettling dreams, orders Antyr, leader of the Guild, to become the Dream Nexus. Dream Finder is an independent novel set in the world of "The Chronicles of Hawklan".---------------"This is good grown-up stuff; more please." -- Interzone"Big meaty fantasy." -- Darlington Northern Echo"This is wonderful stuff." -- Brum Group News
Roger Taylor was born in Heywood, Lancashire, and now lives in the Wirral. He is a chartered civil and structural engineer, a pistol, rifle and shotgun shooter, instructor/student in aikido, and an enthusiastic and loud but bone-jarringly inaccurate piano player.
He wrote four books between 1983 and 1986 and built up a handsome rejection file before the third was accepted by Headline to become the first two books of the Chronicles of Hawklan.
I first read this book 20-ish years ago and loved it. And I had the same problem this time around as I did the first time. So many storyline’s for people I don’t care about. Just trying to get through to the next bit with people I do. 5 main characters have their POV followed… 5! While this gives us a fulsome story, I just wanna know what Antyr is doing, and Arwain. But Ivaroth can suck eggs.
But it’s a great story. It looks like 3 separate things are happening but they tie together well. And Antyr’s ending is perfect.
I read this several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it and have since re-read it and given it to my brother who normaly stays well clear of the fantasy genre but liked this book a lot.
Taylor always writes beautifuly with well developed characters but this book is my favourite of his for the intricate backdrops, characters and the beautiful flowing writing.
Not going to part with this book and will never forgive my brother for breaking the spine and creasing the cover!!
