Despite the fact that this was published in 2008, and despite the fact that it is part of the "Country Living" designated books (as in the magazine/publishing company), this was actually a much more balanced selection of kitchens than I expected it to be. While there might be some elements of a country type design in some of these, some more than others, some are fairly close to looking like "one of those kitchens that no one actually cooks in" that nevertheless have all the best $$ appliances. This is a happy medium, well, in most cases you can draw an idea from a page, but admittedly there are some I was quick to turn the page.
I picked this up when reading Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney's bio-blurb, after reading that "The Nest" was her first novel, but not her first book.
While this is more of a "picture book" than a story, or meant to be read cover to cover, the information is what I was looking for, and this at least gave me some ideas of what would work if I ever get to the point of "transforming" my kitchen! It may be the best 39 cents I have ever spent!
I selected this book because I want to read another book by the same author. This is a book all about different types of kitchens. I like the "Steal this Idea" sections interspersed throughout the book. The kitchen is the heart of the home. It's interesting how many different variations there are for a fridge, oven, stove, and sink!
