I used this book with a small group of students in my English Language Learners class. I liked it because while the language is accessible, its subject matter and content are serious, complex, and suited to young adults. The book led to good discussions about landmines, grief, political corruption, and other important topics. In the international school where I teach, this a valuable book.

It is worth noting that there are a couple of quite graphic descriptions of landmine violence early in the book. Students with histories of conflict or trauma would benefit from a warning beforehand, or the choice to read a different book.

3. Africa, mine, killed, voice, woman, survey, mayor
4(a) 'King Lion let him go, but he kept a foot on the Boy's a handful of stones. He pulled with all his strength on the catapult and shot a stone high into the black sky. After a second or two, a tiny light appeared in the blackness. The Boy shot another stone and another light appeared.
(b)This passage is not important in the story. But this is the origin of stars in the sky in Africa. I was so attracted by the way making stars. How romantic the origin of stars were.
5. This story is mainly about land mine in Africa. A boy lost his right leg and left hand. And the main character's girlfriend was killed by land mine. I thought land mine is very scary for our life. But there are many land mine left in the world. But it take a lot of money to clean land mines. Unfortunately, a mayor who was in charge of to clear land mines stole the money to clear land mine for himself. As long as these problem left, we can't have a peace life.

This book was very great as an adventure story. I liked the way how this book contains conflicts within the adventures and can show throughout how this character deals with other conflicts that he faces with. This story becomes very interesting as this character will take his journey to save his place full of landmines. This story was very amazing and can show the character's bravery within this story.
