Share in inspirational stories of generosity written by children of all ages that reveal their surprisingly insightful feelings about kindness and compassion. Look back at why the Random Acts of Kindness series was such a sensation. When the adult version of Random Acts of Kindness was first published, hundreds of teachers across the country gave assignments to their students to write about unsolicited acts that they had experienced or initiated. Teachers sent the results to Conari Press which then put out a call for similar stories in a teacher’s magazine. Stories poured in and the result was Kid’s Random Acts of Kindness . Whimsical and funny to moving and thoughtful, Kid’s Random Acts of Kindness helps restore your belief in the potential for goodness in man. In Kid’s Random Acts of Kindness , you will see how children are the truest examples of open-hearted Readers of other books in the Random Acts of Kindness series and motivational books and stories like Chicken Soup for the Random Acts of Kindness , A Pebble for Your Thoughts , I've Been Thinking… , and You Can Do All Things will love the encouraging, inspirational stories in Kid's Random Acts of Kindness .
This is a sweet book that shares Random Acts of Kindness either received or performed by children. Much of the book is handwritten by children submitting their experiences or efforts to give random acts of kindness. Spoiler Alert....I thought it would be good to share this with children, but not if you don't want them to learn about Santa early. So, ....too bad you can share it with kids.
This book uses handwritten notes from the children as the main text. Virtually all of them had distracting errors in spelling, grammar, or punctuation. The acts of kindness were rarely impressive either. I usually couldn't get a strong sense of whether the acts were actually motivated by altruism or not.
My daughter and I were loving this book. She was even inspired to write about her own random-act-of-kindness experience to send to the publisher. Fortuitously, while she composed her submission, I skipped ahead and saw the piece written by the kid who pretended he still believed in Santa Claus for the sake of his little cousin. So now the book is "lost."
I was searching for any kind of random acts of kindness ideas...I hope to implement a lot more in 2009. I came across this book. It was really cute and it gave me an idea or two.
