This is the sort of book that makes you gnarl your toes at the thought that half-witted lumps of dead hamburger skin like Donald Trump are rich and famous while real artists toil in obscurity. If there were any justice in this world, the poets would be fabulously well off and Donald Trump would be selling hair plugs in Times Square.

These poems are so rich and lovely that even though they concern spiritual matters, they made an old, gas-encrusted atheist like myself sit up and take notice. Kim Garcia (not "Kim, Garcia," as Amazon has it) can really write. My copy is ruined by underlinings and marginal notes. I deserve to die.

I was going to quote some of my favorite lines, but they aren't as impressive in an online review like this.

One complaint, though: Either this book was printed upside-down, or I was holding it wrong.

Recommended.

I met Ms. Garcia at a reading in Charlotte-- her presence, her reading, not to mention her poems, blew me away. Afterwards, she gave me her "reading copy" of this book, saying that she could tell I was a really great listener. What a class act!
