Gives a good challenge but in the end is disappointing. The book would be great if it argued against drinks exceeding the assumed maximum alcohol level of the Bible times (14%) etc. But the case for *total* abstinence from the mere fact of huge alcohol misuse by non-christians, if consistently applied, would have devastating effects for a number of other things that are greatly misused in our time (food, sex, weapons, medicine, sports, leisure, tv etc.).
Still, alcohol consumption in our world is way worse than it has ever been, and the book does well to point this out. Drunkenness must be rebuked more strongly and societies should limit the selling of alcohol A LOT.
To the pure all things are pure.
