Features female writers Maya Angelou, Beatrix Potter, Astrid Lindgren, and others. This collection highlights the unique challenges that each woman has faced in her life and the connection to her writing. The format of the book is engaging with timelines, facts, and photos of each writer.

Only a few women writers are profiled in this book, with other writers being listed at the end of the book with a paragraph of information each. I would have liked if there were more authors with full-length features, as there is a selection to choose from. One thing to note: This book is easily readable by younger grades, but there are sexual topics in the first two writers' profiles that may need guidance.
