New Year s resolutions have never looked so good.

New Year's Eve. The party is rockin, and Claire is in her usual spot holding up the wall. It's all right. She's much happier scribbling in her trusty little notebook than mingling. Especially since those notes turn into the sexy erotic romances she pens in secret. Those two gorgeous gods across the room are perfect hero material and oh dear, are they headed her way?

Mason and Hunter know she won't remember them as the scrawny geeks they were in high school. She also doesn't know they've been lusting after her for ten long years, waiting for her to meet a man and have a normal relationship. They're through waiting. The time has come to make their move and show her exactly how much they've changed.

One night in the middle of a Mason/Hunter manwich, and Claire has enough research material to fill a hundred notebooks. Good thing she's got OfficeMax on speed dial to order more. Except suddenly her two hunks have this crazy idea that keeping her is selfish. Selfish? She may be mousy, but this mouse is about to roar "

It was cute. But wow...lets suspend some reality here. Two georgeous dudes...who used to be nerds (because that makes them sensitive and crap) find their long lost High School love interest at a New Years Eve party and decide to rock her world ten years after they graduate.

They get it on. And our heroine is so well-fucked that she thinks it was a dream until she sees these two hulking men taking up all the airspace in her kitchen.

Then we get a whole lot of drama that seemed way over the top. Basically the guys decide they have to leave their "relationship" (it was one night folks) because they can't put the love of their life through the tortures of this polyamorous lifestyle. {gag}

I really got drowned in the characters telling me how they could tell the traits that they recognized in each other were the same as they were when the group was in school together. Um...*raises hand*...why would you want someone who hasn't changed much (except physically) since high school? I'd personally run screaming.

But if you forgo the reality aspect, and ignore some of the repetitive prose about why they can feel this way after one night (which doesn't do much to convince me BTW), you get a really steamy story.

The characters are hot. Some of the situations are really sweet. And we get a quick trip to HEA land.

Nice candy sweet holiday read. 3 stars.

Hmmm...not bad, but nothing really special about this 43 page read. Pretty hard to develop much of a story with only that amount of pages to work with, but Ms. McKenna gives it her best shot. The synopsis pretty much says it all--wallflower in high school Claire now writes erotic romances for a living. It's New Year's Eve, she's at a party at her gay friend Paul's apartment doing what she normally does--sitting out of the way "observing" and she comes up with some resolutions for the New Year to spice up her life. One of them is to "sleep with the first non-squicky, non-stalkerish, non-ew-type man to offer". It just so happens that's there's two men at the party who are very interested in seeing that resolution--and more--come true.

Former high school geeks Mason and Hunter have always desired Claire, but were too shy to do anything about it in high school. But now 10 years later, these best friends have grown out of their shyness, have buff bods, share their women, and ever since hearing from coworker Paul about his cute neighbor Claire (and putting two and two together) they don't want to waste another minute in making Claire theirs--forever. But will they change their minds about 'forever' if it means leaving Claire open to ridicule?

What you get here is a couple of pretty hot sex scenes with Claire (who gets to practice what she so far has only written about) and a couple of sweet, gorgeous guys, but not a whole lot of plot or character development. Hard to make magic with not many pages to work with, but at least you get a taste of the author's writing style. 3 1/2 stars.

Another freebie, another disappointment. I know I should stop venturing into free reads like there's no tomorrow, as the chance of finding a gem among lumps of coal is almost non-existent, but hope springs eternal. Oh, and I'm also a glutton for punishment, LOL.

If you loved Annamire’s Blackmailed you’ll like this one. This was a very enjoyable erotic novella with some hot male characters and some hot sex that includes anal intercourse scene.

Madison and Hunter have always loved Claire and wanted to keep her for themselves, but they have never acted on it until New Years 2009. Yep, this erotic ménage author named Claire get some much needed sparks flying in her love life at the end of the 2009.

This was a cute short story. There is no realism to it - at all. As much as I would love two extremely sexy men to want to share me, I would have to question their sanity when they started to discuss moving in together, and getting married, and having babies after 2 days . . it's not all that likely to happen. But that's okay, because this was just a quick fantasy read containing some hot sex scenes. Don't expect much more than that and you'll be just fine. I was a little surprised that Claire, who is shy and doesn't really ever date, didn't have any hang-ups about becoming a part of a permanent "manwich", as she likes to call it. I know that they were two mouth-watering men who wanted to worship her body, but still, that seems like an extreme jump for anyone. Also, the phrase "Holy Chimoly" appeared more than once and I cringed every time that I read it. Claire should erase that from her vocabulary - forever.
I got this for free at Amazon's kindle store, and I'm not going to say that I hated it. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone either. Sorry :(

Short and sweet.

At a New Years' Eve party, Claire reacquaints herself with two former high school classmates, Mason and Hunter, who have grown from nerdy boys to very hot men. Seeing them across the room, they are vaguely familiar, but closer to the heroes she writes about in her erotic romances, than anyone she's ever dated.

Mason and Hunter are, and have always been, best friends. They also picked up a habit of sharing their sexual partners in college, and they both want to finally fulfill their previously unfulfilled high school crush on Claire.

m/f/m - The boys share (at the same time), but don't play with each other.

I always say there's nothing wrong with a nice threesome. True story. I'm not making it up. I do say that. Often. Sure, most of the time it's while I'm reading sexy menage books, but that's not really the point. There's nothing wrong with a nice threesome. There's nothing wrong with a naughty threesome either. I'm just sayin'.

Guys, this is a short story. There's not a ton of character development, but there's some fairly steamy sex. I figure it's a fair trade-off. Being a short story, things move very quickly. Claire daydreams about the sexy guy at a party, sexy guy approaches her, sexy guy and best friend reveal they're former geeks who have loved her since high school, Clair throws caution to the wind and has wicked sex with them. Boom. Done. Oh, there's some stuff about trying to save Claire the embarrassment of having to deal with a menage relationship in real life but this story is more about the sex.

So, if you're looking for something short and steamy, here you go. If you want something epic and long winded, you might want to look somewhere else.

I'm just sayin'.

Why read: Free download for B&N Nook

What impressed me: The premise was kinky, but in the realm of possibility and the characters felt genuine in their professed emotions. I liked the story dealt with the possible consequences of a permanent threesome lifestyle choice and that the men would have rather walked away from love than subject Claire to possible society scorn.

What disappointed me: The book was sexy, no doubt, but it was also crazy over-the-top cheesy. The voice felt off, so instead of coming across as radiating sexual desire it often felt awkwardly uncormfortable. Sort of the difference between listening to your crush's fantasy about you verses some random dude from high school that you regret friending on Facebook.

Recommended: Not really. Make Mine Midnight a quick and sometimes hot, but their is better erotics featuring threesomes out there.

Super short, super quick, super hot read that may not be for everyone but if you like ménage fantasies this will totally fit the bill.

While true it really only touches on developing Claire, Hunter and Mason as characters there are enough details roughly sketched out to get a sense for the three and once they connect on New Years night you will not care about a more in depth look anyway.

Nice that it touched on the more important issue of public perception of the three out enjoying themselves.

Claire has a mantra she follows, she observes those around her, takes copious notes for her erotic novels, and blends into the woodwork like any wallflower would do. This New Years Eve though is an exception because Claire is not aware that she is bieng sought out by Mason and Hunter who she went to school with and doesn't recognize. Mason and Hunter have waited a long time to find Claire again and this time it is meant to be for keeps.

This is a fun quickie. I liked that although Claire is inhibited in social settings, in her own environment she is full of life and spontaneous.

Well I should have known by the cover what I was getting myself into!
To sum this book up it is about a girl at a party and there are these two gorgeous men who make their move on her...Well as the night goes the three of them hit it off!
I'll say the smut...is hot, but other than that the story its self is weird. I got it for free on Amazon, which is great because I don't think I would have been happy if I bought it, but i did enjoy some of the story =)

The sex scenes weren't bad but the story is lacking character development. The angst felt forced and the HEA was rushed. The characters were likable.

This is yet another version of too perfect, too much too soon and too boring.

If you want a sex-God menage story this is probably just your thing, but I prefer my smut to be a lot more realistic. When everyone is stunning (except the heroine who thinks she's so ugly no one could possibly love her) and their sex acts are so perfect everyone's orgasming in unison, it's just so *YAWN*.

The one nod to something real, when the thruple showcased a PDA at the parade and the other lady said 'Disgusting' then whisked her small child away from the obvious "perverts", just smacked of an attempt to add in a real world issue but didn't want to give it any room to breathe. Paying lip-service to what folks who go through these issues in real life seems such an attention-grabbing tactic. If you're going to put it in, actually spend some time and explore it. Have the characters really talk about it, and disect the issues so that readers can come away with a little excitement and possibly a new perspective.

Another point, now this is getting to the nitty gritty, but first time having anal sex would not occur while you're also stuffed with a penis in your vagina no matter how much he might slide a finger and a bit of lube in there. This only serves to push reality and safe sexual practices further out of reach of readers. There are people who really believe that sex should be like the smut they read or the porn they watch. Can we normalise realistic expectations and appropriate sexual behaviour? PLEASE?!

The other thing I absolutely hated was how every other time Claire got excited she 'creamed' *vomits*.

Doubt I'll read anything else by this author, though they seem popular enough. Just not my thing.

Book ended at 73% (preview took up rest). No difference in men. No character development. Same high school class. They were computer nerds who waited 10 years. Supposedly looked for her and the miracle take job with her best friend. Yep, she’s that Claire! They approach at New Year’s Eve party. No talking. Story only show 24 hours. Conflict is one offhand comment by a complete stranger so kind of lame. No epilogue.

This book was unrealistic. I enjoy cheesy, but this was a little far fetched. The writing was great though, which is how it got three stars.

Warning: Threesomes! Light bondage, blindfolds, breakfast made by two hot men who used to be geeks. Parades, cotton candy, more sex, and convincing said men they are WRONG and threesomes are RIGHT.

I have had this sitting on my Kindle since January of this year when Jen D at Not Now…I’m Reading reviewed the book. You can find her review HERE. She had a great review and when I looked on Amazon the book was available for a free download so I jumped at the chance to download it.

We start the story off at a New Years Eve party by Paul, a very fun gay guy who we never get to really meet he’s just mentioned. He’s really good friends with Claire and has her come to get her out of the house. Claire is a very shy woman, who writes erotica romance. She’s sitting at the party watching everyone else have fun while she is making out her New Year’s resolutions, one of them is to jump at the chance to sleep with a man who propositions her. That’s when she notices a sexy guy across the room looking right at her. The next thing Claire knows the sexy guy is coming toward her…along with another very sexy guy.

Mason and Hunter have been best friends since highschool and they share everything…litterally. They have both lusted after the same girl since high school, Claire, and finally seeing her after 10 years they know they can’t pass up the opportunity to have her in their bed. So they approach her at the New Years Eve party and convince her to take them both home so they can have their way with her.

I really, really wanted to enjoy this story. I thought it was going to be a very fun read…the problem is it moved WAY TOO FAST!!!!! I mean, it’s been 10 years since they’ve seen each other yet when they are finally having sexy Hunter is already thinking about what it would be like to be with Claire forever and for her to have his children. I tried to let that pass and continue reading the story, but that thought process never stopped! 10 years is a long time, people change, you might have known them in high school but you don’t know them any more. Have a little fun, get to know each other and then move on in the process! The next morning they all go to a parade and when Claire kisses both men a woman says something about it being disgusting. With that one little remark both Mason and Hunter feel like they need to drop Claire to the curb, not for their own sake but for hers. Give me a break! Seriously, if you want to lead a life of a threesome then you have to understand the misunderstanding of the population. You can’t just assume that everyone will be ok with it so why even approach Claire with the prospect of a three-way if you don’t want her to get hurt by people’s misunderstanding??!!

Oh it gets better…

After the parade the guys decide to have sex with Claire one more time and then they are going to leave. But when she finds out that they plan on going she gets so sad about it. Then Claire convinces them to stay with her…oh and they talk about her marrying one of the guys, moving in with them, and getting fat while having their babies….Um, OK. Did I mention that this whole thing happened in LESS THEN 24 HOURS?! Yep, that’s right. Claire has a threesome for the first time, is completely ok with it, decides that she’s going to move in with Mason and Hunter, marry one of them and have their babies in less then 24 hours. I know that this is a short story but really, you don’t have to fly through a relationship that fast. It could have ended where she wanted to make it work and they were going to see how their relationship would pan out without ever having to mention forever, marriage and kids.

This little freebie from Amazon could've been good. I purchased it for my kindle, and while the book itself was free, I was disappointed in the read. As my subject says, I've seen adult films that had more of a plot, and to be quite frank about it, didn't give me the creeps as much.

The premise of the book is pretty good. A self described wall flower decides for the new year she's going to live it up and accept the first offer for a bedroom partner because she's been too picky and essentially needs to get laid. She attends her best friends (who happens to be a gay male) New Years Eve party and spies an irresistible man across the room. The irresistible man, unbeknown by her, is a long lost high school acquaintance who was once the shy nerdy boy in class. Flash a few seconds later and she notices another irresistible man...who ironically seems 'connected' to the first man.

Even when she doesn't realize who they are at first, the premise sounds promising, albeit slightly out of place. I can't think of many women who would bed not just ONE man, but TWO on the first night she 'meets' them...then again, maybe it's just because I choose a safer circle of friends and this just wouldn't be possible. The two men seem familiar to her, but she can't place it. Eventually one of the guys reminds her who they are. Meanwhile they are all dancing on the dance floor at this party and there is a bunch of spit swapping going on.

Fast forward not so far and the bedroom scenes could've been written better. One reviewer says that it sounds as if it was written by a man. I wholeheartedly agree! Whereas I am a woman with a very vivid imagination the writing went from good to as if someone else literally wrote it. The erotic writing completely turned me off to the experience and I think this is where I started to disconnect from the book itself. Terms that were used and the mentality of the men in particular seemed very cave-man-ish to me and was not sexy at all. The woman in the story got annoying because she accepted these terms and behaviors.

I'm all for bdsm and exploration in the bedroom, if that is what you're into...this however did not deliver. Instead of making it seem like bdsm, it seemed like they didn't care who the woman was that they were having explorations with. Yet, when they would try to add some substance to the book and make it seem as if the men loved, cared for and wanted to protect their wall flower it just made me roll my eyes.

This book has been sitting on my TBR for quite a while. I bought it before I changed my personal rules about what I was willing to pay for, and actually helps cement my conviction to stick with those from now on. The rule in question? Don’t buy books with heroines as romance authors.

The plot is simple. Plain Jane Claire is at her best friend’s New Year’s Eve party when a hunky guy begins checking her out. Then his friend is checking her out, too. They ask her for a dance, at which point reveal they knew her in high school, when they were computer geeks and nobodies. They’ve filled out nicely since then and both men are determined to finally have Claire the way they always wanted. She takes them back to her place for a night of fantastic sex, then wakes up convinced it was all a dream. But of course, it wasn’t.

It’s pure fantasy and shouldn’t be read in any context of realism whatsoever. The characters are all types rather than individuals, slotted into the appropriate place in bed to try and make this as painless and hot as possible. Claire doesn’t buy her own attraction, the guys went from zero to hero and are now the perfect men, and so on and so on. It’s all been done before, and better. Not even the sex is enough to save this, especially with the attempt at drama right near the end that gets resolved almost as quickly.

I must admit, I don’t understand the appeal of authors as heroines. Every time I see a blurb like that – which is at least a couple times a week, it is so overdone – I automatically think it’s fantasy material for the author. And placing the author into the story is incredibly uncomfortable. I don’t want to do it. I don’t want it even hinted at. But this book in particular makes it hard not to, when the heroine’s voice is so casual and conversational (and really tries too hard as it strives for that) and she shares things in common with the author. Like I said, I’ve changed my policy about buying them. I’m not sure I’d even buy an autobuy author who did it. I probably should have filed this one away as unread and trusted that I’d made the right choice by skipping it. Lesson learned.

This is a New Year's holiday themed, erotic short story. I have to say that one of the things this author did well was write a very erotic short story. Ladies, get your fans and maybe a couple of glasses of iced beverages.

But I did have a few problems:

1) "Talk about a female wet dream."
This read exactly like a "female wet dream", and while it was very erotic, it was also eye-roll inducing.

2) Mason and Hunter sounded exactly the same. If their names did not precede whatever action or thought they had, I would not have been able to tell the difference. It got to the point that the sexy scenes started sounding weird because it was as if just one man doing everything - or having things done on him.

3) There was constant head-hopping, especially between Mason and Hunter. Given that they both sounded alike, it made for some confusion. I resolved that by not caring who was who.

4) I don't recommend this read for scrawny, geeky, dorky guys because they are surely to feel disheartened by their chances of a fulfilling sex life. On the other hand, maybe it'll spur them to work out, lift some weights, and become "godlike" in their appearances.

5) The "obstacle" in the latter half of the story felt tacked on. I'd assume that if Mason and Hunter had spent so much time planning this life with the girl of their dreams, they'd have taken into account that their unconventional lifestyle would occasion comments and hostility. Instead, when they do come across this, they act as if this was entirely unplanned for and are ready to give up. Oh, please.

Claire an erotic author attends one of her good friends new years eve party's to come across a green eyed heart throb. Whilst jotting down her news years resolutions, feeling a tad tipsy , she writes notes to be used later in a novel. Fantasies that mabye she wishes may come true, or to be written down later for more of her sexy reads.

Not one but two, sexy hunks approach Claire they seduce her and lure her home. Claire finds out these two hot and steamy men she use to know from school, Hunter an Mason. Who have now bulked up to be hotties have been waiting ten years to be hers and for the long haul.

The boys introduce Claire to a world that she only ever dreampt of in her books, nights of passion, romance, sensual and lusty sex, to knock her panties off. The boys show Claire love and passion she has never experienced, and a whole differnt world to be loved. Maybe three is not a crowd? To be loved by two hot men, lusting for her, Claire is in for the ride of her life and mabye she has found the love of hers ?

A fast paced sexy, erotic read, containing threesomes, fantasies, and filled with sensual love scenes, lots of good stuff to get your blood racing and your heart started. I was intrigued from beginning to end, storyline fast flowing and defiently keeping the reader interested from begnining to end. Short n sweet but a real treat !!! Must be opened minded to read this one, so if you not into erotic reads, threesomes with a mixture of this and that !! this is not for you !

Free read from Amazon and I must say I look forward to reading more of Annmarie's stories :P

Claire is an erotic writer and she's never experienced what she writes about. Until now.

She's at a New Year's Eve party - not talking or dancing like other guests, but writing her New Year's resolutions. Her number 5 resolution: "Sleep with first non-squicky, non-stalkerish, non-ew-type man to offer."

At the party, she sees 2 hunky men who would make perfect heroes in her books, but little does she know is that these two men have been waiting ten years since school for their chance to be with Claire and show her how much they have changed.
Mason and Hunter used to be total geeks, but not anymore. They've bulked up and become the men that most women fantasize about. Now is their chance to approach Claire and take her home and show her just what she's been missing out on all these years.
They leave the party and head back to her apartment where they can all prepare to have the night of their lives. What Claire doesn't know is that Mason and Hunter don't just want Claire for one night, but to be with her always - if she's willing.

This is a short story full of explicit sex, hot men, and fantasies being fulfilled. It contains threesomes, which is something I've never read about before. I found the flow of the story smooth and the characters were so hot they were making me melt. I really enjoyed this and I think Annmarie should write a sequel to this so we can know what happens later. If you act quickly, this is a freebie for the Kindle on Amazon. Check it out- you have nothing to lose.

Original review posted at Not Now...I'm Reading!

4 stars

I’ve been trying to gain control of my physical and e-book TBR pile, so before I got out of bed this morning I decided to skim my Kindle for a short story to get my day started. I was pleasantly surprised with my selection. I’ve only recently started reading ménage stories so I’m not sure if the whole former geeky dudes coming back to claim the girl they’ve lusted after in high school set up has been used often but, I liked how Annmarie McKenna set this story up.

I loved the characters, especially Claire. I dug the whole shy, wallflower erotica writer thing and Mason and Hunter being former high school geeks. I also really enjoyed that I liked Mason and Hunter equally. Often times I find that I either really dislike the female protagonist or end up disliking one of the guys. Although this is a quick read you can definitely feel the chemistry between the three. The hibiddy dibiddy scenes are pretty hot yet surprisingly tender. There wasn’t anything that would be considered over the top raunchy and I very much appreciated that aspect.

As far as the pace of the story went, did things kind of play out a little on the fast side? Sure but, it’s a short story and it was nothing that bothered me to the point where I would lose interest in the story. So if you’re looking for something light, fun and sexy to read then you may want to give Make Mine Midnight a shot.

Thankfully I got the book on sale! I'm not sure what the point of the book was, but 10 years after high school, the two geeks seek out the wallflower because they have loved her from afar. She had no idea, and they gave no indication, other than to sweep her away at a party and she doesn't even question it from her sober mind but goes with them.
They have sex, apparently she isn't very experienced but magically develops skills, and doesn't even question them. Fade to black, wake up and assume it is a dream, again just do whatever they say, head out to a parade
Middle America frowns on her smooching two guys in public, she laughs it off and they decide she is better off without them, head back to her place for more sex
Pull away from her after sex and explain you are leaving because it is best for her, regardless of what she thinks or says, make her sad, finally understand it doesn't matter what others think - pledge eternal love to each other after 10 years apart and 24 hours together - huh?
The story is so flimsy, the attraction isn't felt and the smut is so-so, unless you get it on sale like me, leave it unbought!

An unconventional love story between two men and one woman. While I doubt that such a situation would really work very well in reality, as few people would be able to share so readily and completely as the men in this story can, still, the author tells her story well enough that it's quite believable of all three of them. My main complaints here are due to the length of the story - it is so short that it feels rushed in many places. A much longer word count that would have given the author more room to tell these characters' stories more would have been welcome. True, we do learn all the essential parts of their backstories, but more development would still have been nice, particularly since they are fairly interesting characters. Still, the author did a good job in the space she had, and the story is a very enjoyable quick read.

I liked the idea of two college geeks turned studs who corner and seduce the lady they've had a crush on since high school.  I liked that they both were nice, sexy and caring with Claire.  I liked that Claire was an inexperienced, shy erotic book author who was willing to step on the wild side with these guys.  The story was very, very short, though, and there wasn't time to explore much of anything aside from their initial reunion.  The "conflict" where the guys decide to leave her alone because they don't want her to be frowned upon in society was unnecessary.  IMO there wasn't enough time to flesh that out and it was thrown in there and then resolved way too quickly.

After a prejudice woman made a harsh comment about the three of them togheter, hunter didn't want to continue with the relationship they were developing with Clair. He doesn't want anyone hurting her, because of the lifestyle they have.

They havent see each other in ten years and in the same night they go to bed together. I did't mind that happened too fast.

The only thing I didn't like was that it was extremely short. I wouldn't had mind if it was a bit longer. In the end i wanted to read more about them. More character development.

Sexy guys, hot sex scenes. It was a sweet short menage story. I really liked it.
