Will a threat to London’s life lead her to love?

London Scott’s routine, boring life gets a jolt when her niece discovers a woman’s body while out hiking with her boyfriend. It’s just her luck, though, that it’s Sebastian Archer who investigates the murder. Having known the man since childhood, she’s always been the annoying tagalong. Even though she finds him drop-dead sexy, that’s a ship that can never sail now that she’s guardian to her niece and his goddaughter.

Two years ago, Seb moved home to take the position as local sheriff, ready for a slower pace and to be closer to his family. That included his best friend’s sister, London. The beautiful innkeeper had held his heart since they were young, but the timing never felt right to start something. When a serial killer murders a woman in his jurisdiction who bears a striking resemblance to London, Seb realizes he could lose her before they ever get a chance.

Will London’s reluctance to date the handsome sheriff deliver her into the hands of a psychopath?

This is the first book I've read by Ashley Quinn, and it was just ok in my opinion. It starts out with a bang with two teenagers finding a dead body and we slowly find out it's linked to other murders. The book moves at a slower pace, but then ends abruptly. I wanted more closure.

The chemistry between London and Sebastian is well-written. The couple of steamy scenes were mild. Overall, I liked the suspense and figuring out the murderer, which was pretty easy with the red flags thrown in here and there. The ending could've been better since the rest of the book was well-written and then you get to the final chapter, and it was short and leaving lots of questions. Maybe they're answered in the next book.

I highly recommend this book, you are going to love Sebastian and London.

If you like suspenseful romances then you are going to want to read this one. Ashley is a very talented author, her ability to make you feel as if you are right there witnessing the events playing out before your eyes, is what will keep you glued to your seat. And don't even try to figure out where she is going with the story, she does an excellent job of throwing you off and getting you to yell at the characters for not following standard protocol.

I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us in this series.

One chapter in and I did not want to put the book down. I was hooked! This is one of those stories you read way into the night, only to realize you're not going to be getting much sleep before work.

This epic read has a strong female character, yet you still have the elements of her man being able to help her. There's definitely sexual tension between the two main characters, with insights as to what each of them are thinking and feeling. Great character developments before that tension is resolved.

I REALLY didn't want this book to end and I will really miss London and Sebastian. Their story left me wanting, no, NEEDING more. This would be great movie material, it's not just about romance, but also tracking down a serial killer.

Only downside to this book is now I am craving homemade crepes and scones...

Friends to lovers

London owns a B&B and is raising her teenage niece, Abigail. While out hiking, Abigail and her boyfriend found an old homestead. They go in and find a dead woman, laying in a bed, holding a boutique of flowers. Sebastian is the sheriff and Abigail’s godfather. Seb was raised with London and was best friends with her older brother. He starts investigating the murder and finds more similar to his. When London receives a package left on her steps, Seb moves in with her and Abs. The chemistry between them is smoking and just has to convince London that they are more than friends. When a local woman disappears, the trail leads to a friend. But when London is taken, they have to find her before he disappears with her.

Excellent story. Suspense and sex. There are parts that made me slightly ill the author describes them so well. It will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Interesting read and the characters were fine. I did guess who the killer was early on, but the story was good enough that I finished the book. I didn't realize the book would include two sex scenes, which I skipped. I'm not a fan of reading that stuff and wish it wasn't in there, but to each their own. I'm curious about the mystery still unsolved but not enough to read the series because of the included sex. There is also some language, which I feel it is not necessary to include, but again, to each their own.

Abigail and her boyfriend Trent were hiking when they found the ruins of an old homestead and decided to take a closer look. As soon as they entered the cabin they were overcome by the rancid smell and when they entered the single bedroom they found the source.

There was a woman laying on the bed wearing a wedding dress and holding a bouquet of flowers on her chest. They couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Sheriff Sebastian Archer had left the FBI so he didn't have to deal with this type of situation any longer. He had returned to his small hometown nestled in the Rockie Mountains after the death of his best friend and became co-guardian to Abigail. He hated that she had to be the one to find the dead woman's body. She had been through enough having been the sole survivor of the car accident that took the lives of both her parents.

He was heavily concerned with how much Abigail's aunt London favored his victim and if his hunch is correct...all of the victims. He thinks he is dealing with a serial killer who is using his town as his killing grounds. He has found three other deaths that have similar mo's to his victim and he is determined that London not be his next victim.

I absolutely loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. London has always had feelings for her older brother's best friend, but is determined to keep her distance scared that getting involved with Seb would harm his relationship with Abigail if they ended up not working out.

This is the first book I've read by Ashley A Quinn and I will definitely be reading more. The storyline kept me rooted to the spot and I couldn't put the book down. Not only is this a murder mystery, but it is also a smoking hot romance.

This book is full of action, suspense and smoking hot chemistry. Every time I thought I had a suspect within grasp, there would be a twist that put the light on someone else. I love all of the secondary characters and this author has woven a story with descriptions that make you feel at home in this small town and I look forward to seeing what is in store for this small town next.

Highly recommend!

I love stories set in small towns, especially in a series. So, A Beautiful End is right up my alley. It’s full of engaging characters who I definitely want to see more of in future books. Plus, this is romantic suspense, which is one of my favorite genres. It’s also a brother’s best friend/best friend’s sister story, which wouldn’t make much difference to me except that it does play a part in Seb and London’s relationship – or more like their resistance to start a relationship. This pair has a shared tragedy in their past, which is part of the reason they take so long to get together, but I’ll admit that I wanted to give London a good shake and tell her to grab that man up and don’t let go. Of course, if Seb and London had gotten together on page two it wouldn’t be much of a romance, would it?
The suspense part of this one surrounds the hunt for a serial killer who may be targeting London. We get several edge of your seat situations as well as a red herring or two, and Seb has his work cut out for him if he’s gonna find this creepy bad guy before someone else dies. I did figure it out, but that didn’t diminish my enjoyment of the story. Half the fun for me is trying to suss out the bad guy and then getting to the end to see if I’m right. One thing’s for sure, this is one creepy dude, and twisted is putting it mildly.
Jenn Lee does the narration for A Beautiful End, and I believe this is my first time listening to her. She’s easy to listen to, and while the story is interesting in its own right, I feel like her performance adds another layer to the book. You can hear the tension as it rises throughout the story, and when the big moment comes toward the end, she adds the perfect amount of emotion and intensity.
To sum it up, this is my first experience with both this author and this narrator, and I will definitely be watching for more of them. The book is well written and suspenseful, and it’s full of engaging characters as well as being a story I will come back to when I want to revisit this small town and its inhabitants.

A Real ‘Who Done It’ … with built-in romantic suspense

Sometimes it’s hard to see what’s in front of your eyes. That’s true in this story. Seb and London have know for a few years that they have feelings for each other … and I’m talking about more than friendship. Both allow ‘things’ to get in the way, be it insecurities or fear. This is a romantic suspense and it takes a while to get to the romance part but the suspense starts in the very first chapter.

Abigail, Seb’s god-child and London’s niece, runs upon a dead woman’s body in an abandoned shack out in the woods. What happened, who is the dead woman and ‘who ‘done it’ … and why? Seb, a retired FBI official and now the local sheriff, knows all the signs. He knows this isn’t a simple case of murder from jealousy or revenge. The dead body, lovingly dressed for her wedding, showed that.

As the mystery builds, clues are sparse and conflicts arise. Other bodies are found and all the women pretty much share the same features… the same features as London. Things now are getting personal. Seb with protect London with whatever it takes and won’t let anyone get in his way.

Oh, and remember when I said sometimes we fail to see what’s before our very eyes? Keep that in mind.

🤔 OBSERVATIONS:

✒︎ The ending is way to abrupt. At least it needed an epilogue and tell us what really happened to Coraline.

✒︎ This is a slow build storyline, which is why I was surprised at the abrupt ending.

✒︎ London can be frustrating at times. She either thinks things through way too much or doesn’t think things through at all.

✒︎ Liked that the story stayed on plot most of the time and didn’t use a lot of foul language.

✒︎ There were limited ‘steamy scenes’ and those were easy to skip without losing the book’s main plot.

First time listening to this author and I have to say I totally enjoyed the detective mystery and had a good time working to solve it.
I started to figure it out at about chapter 15. I had suspicions but Ashley turned a corner and i lost my thoughts. Then little things were mentioned and I grabbed it again. There were some cool red herrings in this plotline.
Ashley did a great job of weaving lots of twists and turns and the pace was nicely clipped with some steam to give it some spice.
The finale became creepy and oh so eerie. The idea of this storyline was as angsty as it was clever. The emotional tension rolled on as the book drew to the end. I was feeling a little excited as i figured stuff out. It was Just brilliant .
The writing was done in a simplistic style making it easy listening, with the ability to understand and imagine the happenings of the characters.
I've never listened to Jenn Lee before but she was awesome. Her tone and inflection were brilliant breathing life into the story

Check on both the Suspense and the Romance!!

London runs the local Inn and raises her young niece Abigail. When Abigail encounters a victim of what turns out to be a serial killer, Abigail’s godfather and county sheriff, Seb moves in. Seb, as her brother’s best friend was put firmly in the friend zone to not mess up his godfather role with Abigail. Seb has other ideas, as does Abigail.

Attacks on the Inn, revelations of prior murders, growing feelings, and small town antics will keep the reader fully engrossed in this fabulous story. I listened to the audio, which was a stellar experience. I accidentally started with #2 in the series Wildfire (also on audio), so I was eager to get a proper start to the series. Both stories are well worth the read / listen and I intend to continue to pursue this series. A new author for me, so super excited at the opportunities that it brings!

Dissatisfied by the lack of progress on DuPont’s case acting mayor Jamison calls county sheriff Bev Hatch in to oversee Sam and Jo’s work; new officer Wyatt starts work while Kevin still hasn’t decided which side he’s on. Though favorite villain Thorne is considered a suspect, it’s only fleeting as FBI agent Holden Joyce comes in knowing as much as our dynamic duo does and more than the other, but Kevin steps up to protect them.

Joyce has declared Sam guilty and it’s up to the others to prove he isn’t. This is a huge problem because Joyce’s claim includes the kerfuffle that happened in Sam’s cousin’s trouble and officer Tyler Richardson’s murder. Lucy, of course, does a great job protecting her people, enough to make one wonder how crimes were solved before she joined the force!

I enjoyed this story with all the characters within. The main characters were London Scott and Sebastian Archer.

London Scott owns a B&B. Her life gets a change when her niece discovered a body while hiking with a friend. She finds out the woman that died looks a lot like her and the sheriff is concerned.

Sebastian Archer is now the sheriff of the town. Before that he work in the FBI and has came home to his family. When a call comes in about a body that was found. He is surprised by who find it. When he looks into the victim he finds out things that surprised him.

This was a fun story to read. It had action, adventure, suspense and mystery throughout. It had a few giggles to. It was fun trying to solve the mystery within.

I saw this story and decided to get it through my Kindle Unlimited. This is my honest unbiased opinions.

Seb and London

When Seb’s goddaughter runs across a dead body, it’s his job as sheriff to find out what happened.
It doesn’t help that the dead woman looks a lot like his goddaughter’s aunt London, the woman he has had feelings for for years.
Seb is determined to keep London safe from the killer...

This is the first book in a series, but it’s a complete story, where the mystery has a resolution and the main characters have a happily ever after.
At times suspenseful, it packed in a lot of action as well as a decently plotted out mystery (it was easy enough to guess, but not so easy you’re screaming at the characters to figure it out!).

Recommended for romantic suspense fans, and mystery lovers.

Interesting first book

First book in this series new to this author. With a slow burn romance and a murder in the small town.very original this is a small town the sheriff has a large family but this book is about him and London we meet all the town characters as they search for a missing person.we also see set ups for possible love interests with the other characters and a little of back ground story. Looks like Tara and out of towner jace will be book two. I liked the characters not sure how each book will go if there is a murder in every book or person in danger? (Hope not) there was some very dark and crazy in this book with the killer. (Warning rape trigger) the mystery about mr brown wants to keep me reading.

I really enjoyed this book. For whatever reason it always takes me a moment to adjust to reading jn the third person, I don't dislike it I just find first person (even if switching from character to character pov) a little easier for my old grey matter.

That said, I really liked this romantic thriller. Seb and London clearly always felt more for each other but ignored their feelings first when they were younger for London's brother (Seb's best friend) sake later after Eddie's death for Abbiegails sake. I am so glad that Seb, once his mind was set to show London, his feelings were do much more, stuck with it, and didn't let her concerns stop their budding romance.

The story was well paced and the drama unfolded naturally.

This one was an OK and easy read. Overall I kinda enjoyed it, I just didn’t like how no one suspected Ryan even once … Like Seb worked in FBI so he didn’t think London rejecting a guy and her apartment getting trashed the same night is not just simply a coincidence ? Or the paint or sawdust or whatnots could easily be found at Ryan’s shop and he wasn’t suspicious ? BFFR !

London and Seb were fine, their story was just too insta. Abigail was forgotten most of the time and she just popped here and there.

There’s not a single moment in this book that wowed me though… like something that would give me the feels or anything…

I will continue with the series … It’s nice to read something after a long time …

I read this book back in 2024, I skimmed it today. I want to keep Good Reads as accurate as possible. I rated this a 3 because of all the attitude from London in the beginning. She had an unnecessary stubborn streak, and I can’t help but feel the author wanted her to come across likable and independent that isn’t how she felt to me. Her logic would make sense if her niece was a child not 16. Seb had been amazing to her and she kept forcing the “brother’s best friend” and “tagalong” names when he clearly wasn’t. The reason I don’t rate it lower was because I do like his family and remember reading more in this series so now I need to read the others again.

Decent mystery amidst a steamy romance

Quinn did a good job building a credible mystery in this small town romantic suspense. Sure, you can probably guess the murderer like I did, but making sure you're right is half the fun. The rest of the fun was watching Seb and London dance around eachother while their God-Daughter egged them on. Okay, technically the whole town was in on it. I struggled with London's excuse for avoiding a relationship--it fell flat--but really enjoyed the chemistry.

Overall a pretty great read. Definitely full of other characters whose stories I can't wait to read!

This is an odd book to review because, it’s not that strong on the murder mystery front, but it’s not that great as a romance novel either. London and Seb have no chemistry and although I’m not sure how old London is meant to be she is very childish and this blushing at everything is infuriating. It’s very obvious who the serial killer very early on and it seems to miss a lot of depth to the plot. The romantic scenes are lame, so I really don’t know what genre this is trying to be as it is too weak and not good enough for romance/mystery or murder.

Excellent writing, storyline, character development and editing! Having lived in Colorado, the way the author incorporated the location into her stories was magical. The bad guy was a serious bad guy and one no one would want to encounter. The good guys were...hot, and loving, and honest, and dedicated, and did I mention...hot.

OMG I'm mad at myself that I just discovered this book. However I'm happy it's one in a series. This book was so good. I love London and Archer love story. This book was filled with danger, murder, mystery and romance. I'm guessing I'll find out what the mysterious man at London's B&B is up to in a future book in the series. I can't wait to read the others!

The book is about a serial killer in a small town. The story line was o.k. The language was not too bad. I can handle 4 letter words dropped occasionally. I was surprised at the very explicit sex scenes and so much sexual tension. I prefer to know about very open door sex scenes before I purchase a book.

Great storyline..

I can see where this author, Ashley A. Quinn could become an addiction as her novel keeps you on the edge of your seat in suspense. If you like a fast paced mystery with romance, intrigue and clever suspense, this book is for you. Well done!

Good story

It was a ok story, with interesting and believable characters. The mystery part was intriguing. But feel the explicit love scenes detracted from the mystery of the story, and it made it seem more of a romance novel than a mystery, which i found disappointing.

I devoured this book. It was so good. It reads like a thriller or criminal minds type book as well as a romance which happens to be my two favorite things. If you like suspenseful romances, you will love this book. I can't wait to read the rest of this series.

Romance, mystery, suspense. Settle in to read this in-depth story of London and Sebastian trying to figure out their relationship while Seb tries to protect London and figure out who the killer is. Well written and edited.

Felt the serial killer was a little obvious and they ignored all the signs for a while there. It was also a quick romance that happened within a page then and felt that we didn’t get to truly know the characters well enough before they were put together. Overall a decent story with some suspense.
