This one took a minute to really get into. Honestly, I don’t do well when everything is from scratch; people, world, magic system. But I am so glad I pushed through, by 1/4 way I was intrigued and by halfway I was hooked.
What happens when everything you have ever known is called into question? The tech you have may be manipulating your thoughts, even your body, and the history of your world may not be at all what you thought. That is what Daj is dealing with along with some radicals (or are they revolutionaries once the truth comes out?) he meets. They all feel a sense of wrongness I. The world and go to sort it out.
I was a bit nervous near the end when I still had so much to learn, but all the loose ends were tied up and it didn’t feel rushed.
Overall this was pretty solid and I think the author did an amazing job creating BRAND new worlds and creatures for us to meet and see.

If you are looking for a fast paced, fun to read, easily accessible science fiction story, Skywatch meets, dare I say, exceeds those requirements. The story is easy to get into, maybe partially because the main character comes off in the beginning as rather full of himself. But it is not too long before the reader gets a chance to get to know Daj a bit better and we can then see that Daj has more going for him than just obnoxious, youthful pride. Some of the things I really enjoyed in the story was the author's crafting of the world itself. I enjoyed the idea of the moving seat transportation from the lower levels of the planet's development to the upper levels. I really enjoyed the idea of being able to see the auroras so frequently as well. The character's bodies was also kind of interesting - 4 arms instead of just the human 2. But it really isn't those oddities that are most memorable or remarkable even, it is just the way the story is put together emotionally that works. Even though it is not necessarily written as a good overpowers evil story, or a boy searching for himself story, it is actually just those kinds of story. But the best part is the adventures Daj and his Skywatch friends have reaching the point where they save the world and find what he and the other younger Maglans had not realized they had lost.

At first i was sure that the story is about humans on a different planet then earth because their English slang was American with words like “ Over and out “ while talking from ship to ship and a few more American slangs or street words which the chance for aliens to get exactly the same are impossible.
Also the first half hour was a little confusing especially the four Arms which i was sure that two where built into the air glider till it didn’t make sense no more so i checked the truly beautiful picture on the front of the book to find out that Moglans are a race of aliens with four arms.
That when the magic of the author Steve Davala beautiful creation started working and i really got into the story which was truly written excellently.
Thirteen hours with only a couple of breaks means a lot here !!!
Beautiful story,
Easy to understand without solving complication headache science which many writers love to do ( complicate a story for no reason whats so ever ).
Truly nicely done !

Narration by: Daniel Susco was a perfect match for this creation, perfect voice with great effects when needed.

"Breath."
Daniel Susco narrates this somewhat strange science fiction story set some fifty years after the alien attack had been defeated. Now, loaded with nannos, the population believes itself healthy, protected, and the old Skywatch has been disbanded, no longer deemed necessary and all but forgotten. One kid had only ever wanted to fly, look for his parents who were pilots before him; but wben his victorious demonstration is ruined by an apparently suiciding girl he finds that nothing is as it seemed.
With evolving character development and unexpected twists, this full on, constant action thriller is a great read once the confusion clears. Well performed throughout, each chapter is separated by a brief segment of music , the Skywatcher theme, by Haydon Saxton

This has been a very enjoyable ride. The fusion of tech, a potential glimpse into the future, beautiful planets, magic and robots, this book gave me chills and brought about an array of emotions. It is wonderfully written, with characters that I came to grow and love dearly as the book progresses. Definitely will revisit this book in the future.

Narration by Daniel Susco was done wonderfully. With little musical tracks at the start of every chapters, it sets a kind of mood that matches that of the book very well. the slight alteration of voice to sound robotic is a wonderful touch, I love it so much, and the way the different characters were read was enjoyable too, both male and female, especially without forcing of the female voice.

Wow! This book is amazing. It is true Science Fiction. This amazing world is built page after page with such an attention to detail that you can see it as you read. The characters are all well developed and rounded out. It was a pleasure to read. Action packed and full of wonder, you won't be able to put this down. This is an author to follow whether he's writing fantasy (Soulkind series) or science fiction! I highly recommend!

Steve Davala does it again!! I read his Soulkind series and was so thrilled to get this copy. He did not disappoint! A wonderful sci-fi dystopian. As I was listening to it I forgot how long the book actually is. Just when I thought the book was going to end soon I looked at my phone and saw I was only 1/4 of the way through the book! I was astonished as to how much Steve got into this amazing book! Highly recommend for those who love sci-fi and those who love dystopian.

Probably closer to a 3.5, but I enjoyed it. Very fast-paced with a protag that reads believably as a teenager.
I liked the bots - they were endearing like the best Star Wars droids.
Favorite quote: "I'd say she's looking good, except she's an evil, corporate bitch." Funny stuff.
