It's almost time for bed, but Luis is staring out the window at the starry sky. Any minute now, he's expecting a spaceship to pick him up and whisk him to outer space. While he waits, he imagines the strange creatures he'll encounter. Will he find a robot friend? Will he get to fly through space with a rocket-pack? Will he meet . . . aliens? Get lost in outer space as you pore over pages filled with dozens and dozens of robots and aliens (some new and some that might be familiar). Join Luis to find out all the incredible things he expects to see and do on his daring journey to a distant planet.
Timothy Young always wondered as a child who made the toys he played with, who wrote and illustrated the books he read and who made the cartoons he watched. He grew up to be one of the people who got to do all of them.
Aside from being an author/illustrator he has also designed toys, worked in animation and built puppets. He has also illustrated books for other authors.
His career highlights include being the Head Model-Maker for the Penny cartoons on the first season of Pee-Wee’s Playhouse, designing and building Muppets for Jim Henson Productions and sculpting the very first Simpsons character toys. He has been the design director for two toy companies and worked under contract with dozens of others.
Tim has visited hundreds of schools and libraries and finds that doing presentations with students is one of the most fun and rewarding things he get to do. He loves passing on what he’s learned to kids like himself.

This book is actually pretty cool. It's great for kids who dream of being an astronaut one day or enjoy outer space in general. It's also great for adults because throughout the pages are 70's, 80's, and 90's sci-fi robots and aliens. I found myself checking the pages to see how many I could name and even though I knew a lot of them, I was surprised at how many I couldn't. Printed on glossy pages, the art was rich, and pleasing. The vocabulary and sentence structure is simple enough for young readers, so I would recommend it to kids ages 4 to 8.
I'm about 20 years outside the intended age range for this book. I'm sure kids will like it. Although I was impressed by the sheer number of pop culture references to SciFi in this book.
A very simple story about Luis who dreams about going to outer space. The illustrations are bright and fun, and the text stands out well against the imagery. Although this is a fantastical story (involving meeting aliens), it becomes apparent at the end that Luis has been using his imagination, and now has to go to bed. My only concern is the last image of Luis in bed, with aliens standing at the window - that may not be problematic for some, but for others this might exacerbate the childhood fear or monsters under the bed, and equivalents! On the whole though, it's a fun story and a nice quick read before bed. Plenty to see and point out in the pictures for young eyes.
This was an enjoyable read overall. Vibrant illustrations complement a simple story about a boy named Luis who longs to go to Outer Space. He tells us about all the places he want to go and things he wants to see as he waits by the window for a space ship to come and pick him up. Unfortunately his ride doesn't arrive before bedtime but I get the impression that Luis will be waiting again tomorrow. My only qualm with the book is that a few of the images of the aliens may be a bit too scary for more sensitive young readers.
This was an awesome book! I loved it from front to back and so did my three year old. My favorite part was turning the pages and seeing all the spaceships that I knew from my child hood. Battle Star Galactica, Star Trek, Star Wars. Then you turn the page again and see so many different kinds of robots. My husband and I were looking through them trying to name as many as we could. We loved this book and so will you.

This is a great title that should spark the imagination of young readers. It's full of bright, detailed, fun illustrations showing Luis's desire to travel to outer space to meet aliens, eat different food and play new games. When it's bedtime, Luis settles down hoping that the spaceship doesn't forget to come.

Book recommended to children passionate about astronomy and space travel in general. Be aware that a meeting with aliens and other outer-space creatures, as well as some robots is predictable. A coherent story with good quality illustrations, a perfect good night read for your child's dreams of walking in space. Disclaimer: Book offered by the publisher in exchange for an honest review
Bold illustrations jump off the pages in this book about a boys big imagination. Luis loves outer space and particularly aliens. This story will open up the question every young aspiring space explorer is wondering. What do aliens look like? Young readers will certainly want to add their suggestions and ideas.
This was a really fun book to me. I particularly enjoyed the robots and aliens from pop culture. It was fun, for me as an adult, to see how many I recognized. But, even apart from that, it was still a fun story.
Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book.
I think littles who enjoy outer space and dreaming of going there will enjoy this little book. Lots of fun pop culture robots for parents to point out and tell their little about! Lots of fun! I received a Kindle arc from Edelweiss in exchange for a fair review.
I liked this story, it was short and sweet. I liked that some of the images used in the story of the spaceships and aliens seemed familiar too! Good read overall - 3 stars
Simple, perfect. A little boy wants to go to space. He wants to meet new aliens, try new food, and even build a robot. A simple story for any age bedtime.

Cute and colorful!
I am sure any child who likes space and/or robots will love this book. The pictures and very vibrant and attention-grabbing. And there are many surprising cameos of well-loved characters who make an appearance (some from "Star Wars", some from the movie "Robots", and many more!) It is definitely worth the money and it would make a great addition to any child's personal library.
I thought this book was so colorful and interesting. The illustrations really captured my attention. I especially liked all the aliens and the pop culture references throughout. (Did you catch them all?) I find that kids always seem to enjoy books about space especially if there are aliens and space rockets involved. Overall, I think most kids will enjoy this book and get them interested in space and using their imagination.
