Collecting the series Ain't It Cool News called, "a good, old fashioned horror story... delivering on all levels." When four friends decide to rent a schooner for the day, everything is smooth sailing until they encounter a derelict ship adrift in the ocean - a massive trawler that looks as if it had been dragged from the bottom of the sea. When they spot a frightened little girl waving at them from the bow, they have no choice but to investigate. As they get closer to the ship, they discover that the girl is not alone.
Fairly decent standard horror, as a "Creature from the Black Lagoon" type being decides to get revenge on the human race, one person at a time. The results are predictable and gory, but the artwork is pretty good, and there are a few clever twists. I did like the "origin" story, which, while done before the oil spill, resonated with the BP situation in the Gulf. The concept that the ecosystem can absorb our problems is an old one, but the news about radioactive truffles downwind from Chernobyl has pointed out that we don't always spot all of the consequences immediately.
