Traumatized by big boobs at an early age, Noboru is now eighteen and looking for love... but finds more than he bargained for when he ventures into a mysterious brothel where the girls are not exactly what they seem!
An early erotic masterwork from the prurient mind of Shuzo Oshimi (Blood on the Tracks and The Flowers of Evil), Devil Ecstasy is stacked with sexy demons, kinky scenarios, and abundant nudity, yet retains the emotional core that sets Oshimi's work apart. If you're looking for an oddly touching tale of demonic invasion and sexual trauma, you need look no further...
Welcome to nightmare massage parlor DEVIL ECSTASY!!
Shuzo Oshimi (押見修造, Oshimi Shūzō) is a Japanese manga creator. Drawn in a realistic art style, his comics tend to be psychological dramas exploring the difficulties in human relationships and often touching on disturbing situations and perversions. Oshimi debuted in 2001 with the manga series Avant-Garde Yumeko, appeared in Kodansha's 'Monthly Shōnen Magazine.' Most of his works since then have been published by Kodansha and Futabasha. Among his first successes the single volume manga Sweet Poolside (2004), later adapted into a live-action film, and the series Drifting Net Café (2008–2011), also adapted for TV. Oshimi reached international acclaims with The Flowers of Evil (2009–2014) and Inside Mari (2012–2016), both adapted into successful anime. Other notable works are Blood on the Tracks (2017–2023) and Welcome Back, Alice (2020-2023) .
Stupid fun. Very very stupid, mind you, but still fun.
As a child Noboru was traumatized by a cousin who sexually molested him with her chest, and now he is barely able to talk to women and absolutely panic-stricken at the sight of large breasts. So of course he accidentally discovers a message parlor filled with large-breasted succubi with a secret plan to take over the world and finds himself on the run from the usually naked demons.
One of the few people Noboru can trust is the flat-chested masseuse upon whom he has a crush because her little breasts are the only ones that are not terrifying to him. True love?
So much nudity! A ridiculous amount! A hilarious amount! A stupid amount!
I think we can safely classify this as a guilty pleasure.
FOR REFERENCE:
Omnibus collecting volumes 1 and 2 of the original four-book series.
Ah yes, a story that fully demonizes sexually active women, just what we needed. Props for a great translation, though - I did get a chuckle out of "Beelzeboobs."
Always fun to go back in time and see some early works from a great creator...and this wasn't great LOL.
So a guy who was sexually abused as a kid by his cousin is afraid of woman with big breast. He has a lot of trouble dating because of it. So he and a friend visit a place where succubus seduce men. And he meets a girl with small breast and he falls in love. Then the war on humanity begins as the succubus decide they want to run the world.
This was pretty stupid. The over the top reactions over everything gets annoying. And it's silly. However, it's almost train wreck like where I couldn't stop reading. Watching a big titty succubus chase a guy around a school with her boobs flapping up and down did get a laugh out of me, because it was so insane.
I will say there's some interesting ideas. Like the succubus not having a way to reproduce normally (missing vagina) but they do take the soul energy out of a guy cumming to create a baby. They haven't said how those babies are then born though. So guess we'll see in volume 2 which I believe will be the last for the series.
Anyway, this is silly and dumb but also I can't stop reading? A 2.5 out of 5 at most, but I'll bump it to a 3 for the insanity of it.
There are two things I liked about this: impotence saved the day! and BEELZEBOOBS! The ending makes me want to check out the next installment but safe to say the the mangaka has gone on to do better things.
I was a bit scared going into this but it was actually kind of good…. I’ve never read anything like it before but I was intrigued. Like it was so wild and (lowkey) dumb, but I couldn’t stop reading! The art style is amazing, and the plot and the succubi was such an interesting concept. The ending had me fucked though because like wtfffff. I’m rooting for Melulu and Noburo.
A horror-erotica series by Oshimi for Kodansha's Young Magazine from '05-'06. Super silly, but still entertaining. The Go Nagai inspired art is pretty good.
i'm a regular reader of shuzo oshimi's work. compared to his later, more refined manga titles (like 'blood on the tracks' or 'welcome back, alice') this succubus brothel, small titties vs big titties smut romance may feel like a lesser feat, but it already captures the horror and deep-ingrained traumas of sexuality very well. lewd lady in one panel and a sweating, screaming, crying, frightened to death, eyes rolling back into his skull guy in the next. it complicates the smut in very interesting ways.
The chapter titles scared me when I first read this manga... Scared as in "what the fuck did I get myself into and how long will I need to read until I should return this" But Shuzo Oshimi's work always has a grip that makes me keep reading. Despite the outward lewd content (which is something I usually avoid 9/10 tomes because I hate it in manga) I do like this story and I'm rooting for Melulu and Noboru!
I didn’t like this very much, with good reason. I expected this to be inappropriate but it was perverted in atrocious ways. There are some funny parts and I liked the musician dude and his girlfriend, as well as the self inserts Oshimi added at the end. I don’t think I even want to read the second volume though. Definitely my least favorite work from this mangaka so far.
I’m sorry, but not sorry. This is pretty bad… I had higher hopes for this. From what little plot I get sure this is some what a tiny bit interesting. The rest of it is just plain dumb. Not even in a fun way. Just dumb. The story telling & jokes to this just feel cheap.
This series is short, so I guess I will continue with it to see how the story ends. We’ll see how it goes.
So we have a legion of Succubi that are out to drain all the men's life force in the world. But not all Succubi are bad. Enter our MC. He wants to spend a happy life with one. What could possibly go wrong? This book had some really good moments and it is an engaging and quick read. It is definitely not his best work but it does have some of the same heart and darkness that he is known for.
It's stupid as hell and if you're not totally brainrotted by sleazy horror-hentai to the degree that I am, then this is probably just gonna be unpleasant. But I still found most of it pretty fun, if a bit long winded in the exposition department. You see some glimmers of the artist that Oshimi would become, especially as it progresses. Fun enough that I want to get the next omnibus.
Poor lad Noboru doesn't like big tiddies. Good thing the lovely Melulu at the Devil Ecstasy brothel is lacking in that department. Shame about the demon ladies sucking the life out of everyone.
What in the world did I read... This was just all sorts of weird and not in the cute and quirky way. Just odd... Curiosity got me and I was fooled. I wont be picking up the second volume. Not any time soon at least, and this is going to the far back of my shelf to never see the light of day again.
This manga is dark and graphic. The story line is simple, but the art style is unique and a bit grotesque at times. If you like dark fantasy that involves seduction and soul sucking this is for you.
Eu amei esse primeiro. Fiquei super curiosa pra saber como eles iam desenvolver a história. Saber como o cara consegue viver com a súcubo e como extermina-las.
