Chasing The Violet Killer was a slow-burn second chance romance with a fast-paced serial killer plot. Naomi and Dylan have a past, but when her Uncle Roger is killed before her eyes, she can't let her past with Dylan stop her from returning to Peeble Creek to bury her uncle.

Dylan is a detective with The Peeble Rock PD, and he was frustrated with how slow their investigation was in locating and apprehending The Violet Killer. All of that changed when his ex returned to town, and the killer started targeting her. After her uncle was killed, he didn't want Naomi to stay at his house, so she moved in with him while she was in town.

The reasons for their break-up were different and misconstrued by both, without realizing the other didn't want the relationship to end. Even when it was upsetting, open discussion was needed, and, thankfully, Dylan and Naomi realized it sooner rather than later.

After about 50%, the book picks up speed with the investigation, and you start to wonder if Naomi really does know her uncle's killer and now he's hunting her. If you love a serial killer mystery and a second-chance romance, you'll enjoy Chasing The Violet Killer.

The romance was secondary to the suspense for me, and the suspense played along very well - not too upsetting, per the genre, but bloody enough to set the stakes. I was also intrigued that this is a male writer with a criminology background. The novel had a briskness and lack of sentimentality for a category romance, which suited my reading tastes.

This whole book was a slow start. I gelt like it was more of a back and forth love story between Dylan and Naomi. There wasnt enough from the killers point of view to give it a thrill. I wasnt drawn the characters.

I don’t care for romance much but this book was actually good. Crazy serial killer. Wish the ending wouldn’t have been so rushed.
