Glasgow's Hard Men : True Crime from the Files of the Herald, Sunday Herald and Evening Times

by Robert Jeffrey

For more than 100 years the poverty of Glasgow's slums fuelled the violence of the gangs. But the criminals were not Glasgow's only hard men. The crimefighters - from cops to chief constables and high court judges - were also tough. This volume is the story of both sides, the good and the bad, and the battle between the two.

[Rog Harrison]

This is a readable book with information taken from the files of Glasgow newspapers. There are pieces on police officers, lawyers, criminals, trials and unsolved crimes. It's a decent read for the casual reader but probably disappointing for anyone who wants a more serious study.

Good synopsis of Glasgow Gangland- the good guys and the bad guys. Written in 2002 it's a little out of date now but informative about the past.
