Promises is written by Laverne Thompson it's a story about childhood love and how one character moves away from there best friend who they both have feeling for the other.
David and Mia grew up as best friend till one day when David family moved away. Before he left they made a promise to each other did believe either would keep to each other. Years later their family's are still friend and moved back but David is no where around and his family doesn't really tell Mia what he has been up to. Till one night at a fundraiser he showed up and locked eyes with Mia. The moment they saw each other it was like no one was around. Mia wanted to be upset with him and mad because after all these years.
I like this story alot and was rooting for these character from the beginning of the story and I enjoyed the out come.

This was a very cute but short romantic read. I loved the best friends to lovers concept. This is about knowing what you want and who you want in your life and deciding that is what you will have. The time apart kept the main characters going so it was very rewarding when after years of separation, their decisions held.

Blurb: Can the promise of love withstand the test of time?

What Stephanie Thought: Promises is short and sweet, a mere 50-page novella with an exceptionally hot cover :) Full of nostalgia of childhood innocence and loyal sentiment, it's one that you're likely not to forget.
David and Mia grew up together, did everything together, understood each other. Until David abruptly decided to join the army, that is. Mia was shattered, but she made a promise to him that she would wait for as long as it would take him to return, and she was determined to keep it.
When almost all hope is gone, David comes back. And though Mia feels inner anger, she takes one look into his familiar eyes and realizes she is still in love with him.
I didn't like how short this novella was; I wish it had been drawn out a little more! Besides that though, it was a warm, not quite erotic but more sensual read that I think has something to say about every relationship.

Stephanie Loves: "Watching her the entire time, he took his time lowering his head to hers. He didn't close his eyes until his lips were touching hers, devouring them. This was no kiss of innocence.
He was right. Nothing had changed between them.
Everything had changed.
David raised his mouth far enough away from hers to whisper, 'My Mia, I came back for you.'
'David, I waited because I knew you would.'"

Where Stephanie Got It: Directly from LaVerne as a gift.

Radical Rating: 8 hearts- Would recommend to lots of really good friends. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

it was good, not great

It was good, but not great.
I did like the plot. I also liked the characters. Just wasn’t too sure If I’d given up that easy. Forgiveness was a little too quick.
But as I hadn’t read the first copy I’ve got no comparison.

This book is by an author that is not new to me, but one that I haven't read yet. This is a short read, but through the pages you learn about the story of David and Mia. True love truly stands the test of time and if it's real, then you know it. I enjoyed this book and I would suggest it if you are looking for a great short read about truelove. So glad, I took a chance on this book.
