A Wild and Whacked-out Cult Novel of NYC

Aaron Franklin, a nineteen-year-old sprinting awkwardly through life finds himself tackled first by Helga Fern ""a clumsy Viking of a girl who lumbered through life and avoided mirrors."" Actually it was rather his fault, seducing her in the dormitory. But Helga, a veritable ""giant,"" turns up enormously pregnant and thunderously vocal, giving chase to her by now fleetly fleeing misguided lover. Aaron has, in the meantime, started an affair with Polly Gang, a far more fetching student. Polly, who reciprocates his passion, attempts to halt the hollering Helga and winds up being chased by Helga's chubby brother Toby. Meanwhile there's the relationship between Aaron and his father, a successful, if disgruntled Jewish businessman who plays piano on the sly and indulges in lecherous fantasies. Actually, he's the only appealing character in the book which is clever, cute and relentlessly pushing the momentum of the comic moments
