While investigating a string of bizarre murders, Detective Delilah Swift becomes the prey of a twisted serial killer who, acting as judge and executioner, knows her darkest secret. Original.
Hunter Morgan writes chilling suspense with romantic elements in small town settings. She appeals to fans of Melinda Leigh, Loreth Anne White, Skye Jordan and Mary Burton.
This is a very suspenseful book which really draws you in. Maria's Place, a home for pregnant teenagers, run by nuns is central to the plot with almost all of the characters volunteering or working there. I really liked detective Delilah Swift. She was a real person with real problems and concerns. I particularly liked her niece Callie. Though I wanted to smack Callie's mother upside the head when she put her on a plane to Delilah's without a word to Delilah. Her mother's husband didn't like Callie so she dumped her on Delilah and refused to let her come back home. I liked the way Delilah handled the situation and Callie. I also liked that Delilah wasn't perfect - she made mistakes in the past, she couldn't solve the current murder spree and she couldn't make her relationship with her boss work (granted fraternization was frowned upon). All in all, a very good story that kept you guessing until the end though I did narrow it down to two people and one of them was the culprit.
"My, my, my Delilah" and if you recognise the lines to that golden oldie song, you'll realise that it was also a murder story. What a great read! Detective Delilah is really up against it as bodies start floating in the pond, where the previous year another serial killer drowned. But the latest crop of bodies didn't drown, instead they all had really mysterious deaths and were simply dumped there by the latest serial killer to haunt the small town of Stephen Kill. The story is sharp, with suitably fleshed out characters, most of whom (as usual) have a lot to hide in order to have their "standing" in Stephen Kill "unblemished". The mystery is intense throughout the story with plenty of apparent sub-plots eventually adding to the whole. For me this was an exciting read - done over three evenings, and I had to force myself to go to bed and go sleep on the second night, as I was extremely impatient to find out just exactly what was going on. So in synopsis - well written, intense, mysterious, frustrating (from Delilah and my point of view) as she had so little to go on to find the mysterious killer. I do hope that there are similar tales by Hunter Morgan as I shall certainly go looking for them. An absolutely grand story and well worth the read!

Delilah Swift is the only detective on the Stephen Kills police department. Delilah knows that the murders are tied together some way. Trying to balance her work with a visiting niece and a forbidden lover, Delilah is struggling. I received a copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I became a fan last summer when I read her Albany Beach murder series. One of the things that I like about her writing is that the story is told from many points of view. Delilah's personal struggles also enhanced the mystery. Even though I guessed who the murderer was, this book kept me engrossed. I like this book very much and will be picking up more of her books in the future.
Hunter Morgan in an author who is new to me. I found her writing to be quite enjoyable. The storyline held my interest and the characters were relatable. I particularly liked the main character Delilah who is the detective trying to hunt down a killer. Her life is not perfect, her character is a bit flawed, but she is completely likable.
The story has numerous twists which only enhance the suspense. It is very entertaining and worth the read. I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys police/serial killer thrillers with romantic elements.

A very well written book, with believable characters and a nice flow. It may seem a little long, but there is actually very little waste of words. Not the most thrills or suspense, but a good mystery and story. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily post this review. This is my honest review.
Interesting book with good characters and a plot that kept you entertained. This was the first book I read on my Kindle and at first I was afraid the killer would turn out to be someone introduced in the first few chapters and didn't pop up again till the end [I knew I would have trouble going back and forth since I wasn't used to the Kindle yet]. But lucky for me it all came together nicely and I had suspected the killer early on.
This is an author I know nothing about. I picked up 3 books at the used book store, and I'm finding them to be good at keeping my interest, but nothing that stays with me once I put them down. They are FBI-tracking-killers stories with some romance thrown in.
My rating would be 2 1/2 stars if I could do it that way...
An utterly new author for me, I chose her because of a challenge requirement, and though I didn't go in with high expectations, I was quite disappointed with the result.
A complete déjà-vu of a book, too similar to many of the suspense/thriller plots out there for me to actually enjoy it.
A good read -- very suspenseful -- lots of characters -- you never knew who was going to get killed or who the killer was until the author wanted you to.
